ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲರ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳ 23
1 ಪೌಲನು ನ್ಯಾಯಸಭೆಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರನ್ನು ದಿಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿ, “ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಿಂದ ನಾನು ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brothers, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
2 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕ ಅನನೀಯನು ಪೌಲನ ಬಳಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದವರಿಗೆ ಅವನ ಬಾಯಮೇಲೆ ಹೊಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.
3 ಆಗ ಪೌಲನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಸುಣ್ಣ ಬಳಿದ ಗೋಡೆಯೇ, ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವರು. ಮೋಶೆಯ ನಿಯಮದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನನ್ನ ನ್ಯಾಯವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡಲು ನೀನು ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು, ನಿಯಮಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತೀಯೋ?” ಎಂದನು.
Then said Paul to him, God shall smite you, you white washed wall: for sit you to judge me after the law, and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?
4 ಪೌಲನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದವರು, “ದೇವರು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀಯಾ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು,
And they that stood by said, Revile you God’s high priest?
5 “ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ‘ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯ ಕುರಿತಾಗಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾತನಾಡಬಾರದು’ ಎಂದು ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಪೌಲನು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Then said Paul, I knew not, brothers, that he was the high priest: for it is written, You shall not speak evil of the ruler of your people.
6 ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಸದ್ದುಕಾಯರು, ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರು ಫರಿಸಾಯರು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಪೌಲನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು ನ್ಯಾಯಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, “ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ನಾನು ಫರಿಸಾಯನು, ಫರಿಸಾಯನ ಮಗನು. ಸತ್ತವರ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನದ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ನ್ಯಾಯವಿಚಾರಣೆಗೆ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
7 ಪೌಲನು ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ ಫರಿಸಾಯರ ಮತ್ತು ಸದ್ದುಕಾಯರ ನಡುವೆ ಭೇದ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಸಮೂಹವು ವಿಭಾಗವಾಯಿತು.
And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.
8 ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಸದ್ದುಕಾಯರು ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ ದೇವದೂತರಾಗಲಿ, ಆತ್ಮಗಳಾಗಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಫರಿಸಾಯರು ಇವೆರಡನ್ನೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
9 ಆಗ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗಲಭೆಯೇ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಫರಿಸಾಯರ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಿಯಮ ಬೋಧಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಎದ್ದು, “ನಾವು ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ತಪ್ಪನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆತ್ಮವಾಗಲಿ, ದೇವದೂತನಾಗಲಿ ಇವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿರಬಹುದು,” ಎಂದು ವಾದಿಸಿದರು.
And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
10 ಜನಸಮೂಹವು ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಎಳೆದು ತುಂಡುತುಂಡಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವರೇನೋ ಎಂದು ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಭಯವಾಯಿತು. ಸೈನಿಕರ ಗುಂಪುಗಳು ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿದು ಹೋಗಿ ಬಲಪ್ರಯೋಗದಿಂದ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಸೈನಿಕ ಪಾಳ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಬರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅವನು ಸೈನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.
11 ಮರುದಿನ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕರ್ತ ಯೇಸು ಪೌಲನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು, “ಧೈರ್ಯದಿಂದಿರು! ನೀನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಂತೆಯೇ ರೋಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಕೊಡತಕ್ಕದ್ದು,” ಎಂದರು.
And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as you have testified of me in Jerusalem, so must you bear witness also at Rome.
12 ಮರುದಿನ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ರಹಸ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದು, ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ತಾವು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವವರೆಗೆ ಅನ್ನಪಾನ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಶಪಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
13 ಈ ಒಳಸಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನ ಪುರುಷರಿದ್ದರು.
And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.
14 ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರ ಹಾಗೂ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, “ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವವರೆಗೆ ನಾವು ಊಟಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಗಂಭೀರ ಶಪಥಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.
15 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ವಿಚಾರಣೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟವಾದ ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂಬ ನೆಪದಿಂದ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ತರುವಂತೆ ನೀವೂ ನ್ಯಾಯಸಭೆಯೂ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕೊಂದುಬಿಡುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
Now therefore you with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down to you to morrow, as though you would inquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
16 ಈ ಒಳಸಂಚು ಪೌಲನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಲು ಅವನು ಸೈನಿಕ ಪಾಳ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಪೌಲನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.
17 ಆಗ ಪೌಲನು ಶತಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ಈ ಯುವಕನನ್ನು ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಇವನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಏನೋ ವಿಷಯವಿದೆಯಂತೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
Then Paul called one of the centurions to him, and said, Bring this young man to the chief captain: for he has a certain thing to tell him.
18 ಅದರಂತೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ, “ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸತಕ್ಕ ವಿಷಯವಿದೆಯೆಂದು ಸೆರೆಯವನಾದ ಪೌಲನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಈ ಯುವಕನನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿ ತರುವಂತೆ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me to him, and prayed me to bring this young man to you, who has something to say to you.
19 ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ಯುವಕನ ಕೈಹಿಡಿದು ಏಕಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಪಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು, “ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದದ್ದು ಏನು?” ಎಂದನು.
Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that you have to tell me?
20 ಆ ಯುವಕನು, “ಪೌಲನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಯ ನೆಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ನ್ಯಾಯಸಭೆಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಕರೆತರುವಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire you that you would bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would inquire somewhat of him more perfectly.
21 ನೀವು ಅವರ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡಿ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನರು ಅವನಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವವರೆಗೆ ಊಟಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಪಾನ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಶಪಥ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆಯನ್ನೇ ಈಗ ಅವರು ಎದುರುನೋಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
But do not you yield to them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from you.
22 “ಈ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ವರದಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಹೇಳಬೇಡ,” ಎಂದು ಆ ಯುವಕನಿಗೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See you tell no man that you have showed these things to me.
23 ಆಮೇಲೆ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ತನ್ನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಶತಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಒಂಬತ್ತು ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಕೈಸರೈಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಇನ್ನೂರು ಜನ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನೂ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಕುದುರೆ ಸವಾರರನ್ನೂ ಇನ್ನೂರು ಜನ ಭರ್ಜಿಧರಿಸಿದವರನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸಿರಿ.
And he called to him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen three score and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
24 ಕುದುರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿಸಿ ಅವನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲ ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಲುಪುವಂತೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಮಾಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe to Felix the governor.
25 ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹೀಗೆ ಬರೆದುಕೊಟ್ಟನು:
And he wrote a letter after this manner:
26 ಮಹಾಪ್ರಭುಗಳಾದ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲ ಫೇಲಿಕ್ಸ್, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕ್ಲೌದ್ಯ ಲೂಸ್ಯನು, ಮಾಡುವ ವಂದನೆಗಳು.
Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor Felix sends greeting.
27 ಈ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಬಂಧಿಸಿ, ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಸೈನಿಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಇವನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿದೆನು. ಇವನು ರೋಮ್ ಪೌರ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತು.
This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
28 ಅವರು ಏಕೆ ಪೌಲನ ಮೇಲೆ ದೋಷಾರೋಪಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಇವನನ್ನು ಅವರ ನ್ಯಾಯಸಭೆಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದೆನು.
And when I would have known the cause why they accused him, I brought him forth into their council:
29 ಇವನ ಮೇಲಿನ ದೋಷಾರೋಪಣೆ ಅವರ ನಿಯಮದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟದ್ದು. ಇವನಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಗಾಗಲಿ, ಸೆರೆಮನೆಗಾಗಲಿ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಾದ ಯಾವ ಅಪರಾಧಗಳೂ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನಾನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.
30 ಆದರೂ ಪೌಲನ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಒಳಸಂಚು ನಡೆದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಕೂಡಲೇ ಇವನನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಇವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾದ ಆರೋಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಇವನ ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to you, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before you what they had against him. Farewell.
31 ಸೈನಿಕರು ಈ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಂತೆ, ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಂತಿಪತ್ರಿ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನವರೆಗೆ ಹೋದರು.
Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris.
32 ಮರುದಿನ ಪೌಲನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಕುದುರೆಸವಾರರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಸೈನಿಕರು ಅವರ ಪಾಳ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದರು.
On the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle:
33 ಅವರು ಕೈಸರೈಯವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲನಿಗೆ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.
Who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, presented Paul also before him.
34 ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲನು ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಓದಿ, ಪೌಲನು ಯಾವ ಪ್ರಾಂತದವನೆಂದು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿ, ಅವನು ಕಿಲಿಕ್ಯದವನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು,
And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;
35 “ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆರೋಪ ಹೊರಿಸಿದವರು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ತಲುಪಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಹೆರೋದನ ಅರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾವಲಲ್ಲಿಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
I will hear you, said he, when your accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall.
