ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು 1

1 ೧ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದ ದಾವೀದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಗಳು.

THE PROVERBS of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

2 ೨ ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ಜನರು ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.

To know wisdom and instruction; to comprehend the words of understanding;

3 ೩ ಅವರು ವಿವೇಕಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ನೀತಿ, ನ್ಯಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಿತರಾಗುವರು.

To receive the discipline of wisdom, justice, and right, and equity;

4 ೪ ಈ ನುಡಿಗಳು ಮೂಢರಿಗೆ ಜಾಣತನವನ್ನೂ, ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವವು.

To give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion;

5 ೫ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದ ಪಾಡಿಂತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು, ವಿವೇಕಿಯು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಉಚಿತಾಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು.

That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning, and the man of understanding may attain unto wise counsels;

6 ೬ ಇವು ಗಾದೆ, ಸಾಮ್ಯ, ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ನುಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಒಗಟುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯಲು ಸಾಧನವಾಗಿವೆ.

To understand a proverb, and a figure; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 ೭ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭಯವೇ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಮೂಲವು, ಮೂರ್ಖರಾದರೋ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವರು.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and discipline.

8 ೮ ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಉಪದೇಶವನ್ನು ಕೇಳು, ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಬೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ತೊರೆಯಬೇಡ.

Hear, my son, the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;

9 ೯ ಅವು ನಿನ್ನ ತಲೆಗೆ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಪುಷ್ಪಕಿರೀಟ, ಕೊರಳಿಗೆ ಹಾರದಂತಿರುವುದು.

For they shall be a chaplet of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10 ೧೦ ಮಗನೇ, ಪಾಪಿಗಳು ದುಷ್ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನೀನು ಒಪ್ಪಲೇ ಬೇಡ.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

11 ೧೧ ಅವರು, “ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಾ, ರಕ್ತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕೋಣ, ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಯನ್ನು ಕಾರಣವಿಲ್ಲದೆಯೇ ಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾದಿರೋಣ.

If they say: 'Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us lurk for the innocent without cause;

12 ೧೨ ಪಾತಾಳವು ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ಇಳಿಯುವವರನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನುಂಗುವಂತೆ, ನಾವೂ ಇವರನ್ನು ಜೀವದೊಡನೆ ನುಂಗಿಬಿಡೋಣ. (Sheol h7585)

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave, and whole, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol h7585)

13 ೧೩ ಸಕಲವಿಧವಾದ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿದು, ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಮಾಡಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಿಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ.

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil;

14 ೧೪ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಚೀಟು ಹಾಕು; ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಹಣದ ಚೀಲ ಒಂದೇ ಆಗಿರಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ,

Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse' —

15 ೧೫ ಮಗನೇ, ಅವರೊಡನೆ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಬಾರದು, ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಿಡಬೇಡ.

My son, walk not thou in the way with them, restrain thy foot from their path;

16 ೧೬ ಅವರ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ ಓಡುವವು, ಅವರು ರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಲು ಆತುರಪಡುವರು.

For their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.

17 ೧೭ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳ ಕಣ್ಣೆದುರಿಗೆ ಬಲೆಯನ್ನೊಡ್ಡುವುದು ವ್ಯರ್ಥ.

For in vain the net is spread in the eyes of any bird;

18 ೧೮ ಇವರಾದರೋ ಸ್ವರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಸ್ವಜೀವವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

And these lie in wait for their own blood, they lurk for their own lives.

19 ೧೯ ಸೂರೆಮಾಡುವವರೆಲ್ಲರ ದಾರಿಯು ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಸರಿ; ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಗಾರರ ಜೀವವನ್ನೇ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಮಾಡುವುದು.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; it taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

20 ೨೦ ಜ್ಞಾನವೆಂಬಾಕೆಯು ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಚೌಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ವನಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

Wisdom crieth aloud in the streets, she uttereth her voice in the broad places;

21 ೨೧ ಪೇಟೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಊರ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆಯು ನುಡಿಯುವುದೇನೆಂದರೆ,

She calleth at the head of the noisy streets, at the entrances of the gates, in the city, she uttereth her words:

22 ೨೨ “ಮೂಢರೇ, ಮೂಢತನವನ್ನು ಎಂದಿನ ತನಕ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವಿರಿ? ಧರ್ಮನಿಂದಕರು ನಿಂದಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟುಕಾಲ ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುವರು? ಜ್ಞಾನಹೀನರು ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟರವರೆಗೆ ಹಗೆಮಾಡುವರು?

'How long, ye thoughtless, will ye love thoughtlessness? And how long will scorners delight them in scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23 ೨೩ ನನ್ನ ಗದರಿಕೆಗೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕೊಡಿರಿ; ಇಗೋ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸುವೆನು.

Turn you at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 ೨೪ ನಾನು ಕರೆದಾಗ ನೀವು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದಿರಿ. ಕೈ ಚಾಚಿದರೂ ಯಾರೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ;

Because I have called, and ye refused, I have stretched out my hand, and no man attended,

25 ೨೫ ನನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದವನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಾರದೆ, ನನ್ನ ತಿದ್ದುಪಾಟನ್ನು ಬೇಡವೆಂದು ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀರಿ.

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof;

26 ೨೬ ಆದಕಾರಣ ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿಯಂತೆ ಅಪಾಯವೂ, ತುಫಾನಿನಂತೆ ಆಪತ್ತೂ ಬಂದು, ನಿಮಗೆ ಶ್ರಮಸಂಕಟಗಳು ಸಂಭವಿಸುವಾಗ

I also, in your calamity, will laugh, I will mock when your dread cometh;

27 ೨೭ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅಪಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನೂ ನಗುವೆನು; ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಪತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವೆನು.

When your dread cometh as a storm, and your calamity cometh on as a whirlwind; when trouble and distress come upon you.

28 ೨೮ ಆಗ ಅವರು ನನಗೆ ಮೊರೆಯಿಟ್ಟರೂ ನಾನು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡೆನು, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆತುರದಿಂದ ಹುಡುಕಿದರೂ ನಾನು ಕಾಣಿಸೆನು.

Then will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me earnestly, but they shall not find me.

29 ೨೯ ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಕೊಡದೆ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡಿದರು.

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD;

30 ೩೦ ನನ್ನ ಬೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ, ನನ್ನ ಗದರಿಕೆಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಾತ್ಸಾರಮಾಡಿದರು.

They would none of my counsel, they despised all my reproof.

31 ೩೧ ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ನಡತೆಯ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ, ಸ್ವಂತ ಕುಯುಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನೇ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆತುಂಬಾ ಉಣ್ಣಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 ೩೨ ಮೂಢರು ತಮ್ಮ ಉದಾಸೀನತೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಹತರಾಗುವರು, ಜ್ಞಾನಹೀನರು ತಮ್ಮ ನಿಶ್ಚಿಂತೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ನಾಶವಾಗುವರು.

For the waywardness of the thoughtless shall slay them, and the confidence of fools shall destroy them.

33 ೩೩ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡುವವನಾದರೋ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಯಾವ ಕೇಡಿಗೂ ಭಯಪಡದೆ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಾಳುವನು” ಎಂಬುದೇ.

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell securely, and shall be quiet without fear of evil.'
