ಲೂಕನು 14

1 ೧ ಆತನು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಫರಿಸಾಯರ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಅವರು ಆತನನ್ನು ಹೊಂಚಿನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

And it happened, when he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, that they were watching him.

2 ೨ ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ತನ್ನೆದುರಿಗೆ ಜಲೋದರವುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ,

And look, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.

3 ೩ “ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡುವುದು ಸರಿಯೋ ಅಥವಾ ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶಕರನ್ನೂ ಫರಿಸಾಯರನ್ನೂ ಕೇಳಿದನು.

Yeshua, answering, spoke to the Law scholars and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?"

4 ೪ ಅವರು ಸುಮ್ಮನೇ ಇರಲು ಆತನು ಅವನ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವನನ್ನು ವಾಸಿಮಾಡಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ,

But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.

5 ೫ “ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವನೊಬ್ಬನ ಮಗನಾಗಲಿ ಎತ್ತಾಗಲಿ ಬಾವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನು ತಡಮಾಡದೆ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.

He answered them, "Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, would not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?"

6 ೬ ಅವರು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಲಾರದೆ ಇದ್ದರು.

But they could make no reply to this.

7 ೭ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರು ಪಂಕ್ತಿಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಯೇಸು ಒಂದು ಸಾಮ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,

8 ೮ ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದರೆ ಪಂಕ್ತಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ, ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನಿನಗಿಂತ ಗೌರವವುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು ಅವನು ಕರೆದಿರಬಹುದು

"When you are invited by anyone to a marriage feast, do not sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,

9 ೯ ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಅವನನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದವನು ಬಂದು, ‘ಇವನಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳ ಬಿಡು’ ಎಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳುವಾಗ ನೀನು ನಾಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಡೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಿ.

and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, 'Make room for this person.' Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.

10 ೧೦ ಆದರೆ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆದಾಗ ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಕಡೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೋ. ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆದವನು ಬಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ‘ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೇ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ’ ಅನ್ನುವನು. ಆಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಗೌರವ ದೊರಕುವುದು.

But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, 'Friend, move up higher.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.

11 ೧೧ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವನು, ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವನು” ಅಂದನು.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

12 ೧೨ ಆತನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದವನಿಗೆ ಸಹ ಒಂದು ಮಾತು ಹೇಳಿದನು; ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ನೀನು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣತಮ್ಮಂದಿರನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಧುಬಾಂಧವರನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತರಾದ ನೆರೆಯವರನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಕರೆಯಬೇಡ. ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಅವರು ಸಹ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರೆದಾರು, ಮತ್ತು ನಿನಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆಮುಯ್ಯಾಗುವುದು.

He also said to the one who had invited him, "When you make a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.

13 ೧೩ ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಔತಣ ಮಾಡಿಸುವಾಗ ಬಡವರು, ಅಂಗಹೀನವಾದವರು, ಕುಂಟರು, ಕುರುಡರು ಇಂಥವರನ್ನು ಕರೆ,

But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;

14 ೧೪ ಆಗ ನೀನು ಧನ್ಯನಾಗುವಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಅವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಏನು ಮಾಡಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲದವರು. ನೀತಿವಂತರು ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ ಹೊಂದುವಾಗ ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲ ದೊರಕುವುದು.”

and you will be blessed, because they do not have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous."

15 ೧೫ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ, “ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟಮಾಡುವವನೇ ಧನ್ಯನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು,

Now when one of those who were reclining with him heard these things, he said to him, "Blessed is he who will eat bread in the Kingdom of God."

16 ೧೬ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, “ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಮಹಾ ಔತಣ ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ಅನೇಕರನ್ನು ಆಮಂತ್ರಿಸಿದನು.

But he said to him, "A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.

17 ೧೭ ಊಟವು ಸಿದ್ಧವಾದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ‘ಈಗ ಔತಣವು ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಆಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

And he sent his servant at the hour for supper to tell those who were invited, 'Come, for everything is ready now.'

18 ೧೮ ಆದರೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ನೆವ ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದರು. ಮೊದಲನೆಯವನು ಆ ಆಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ‘ನಾನು ಒಂದು ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡನು.

They all as one began to make excuses. "The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.'

19 ೧೯ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು, ‘ನಾನು ಐದು ಜೋಡಿ ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡನು.

"Another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.'

20 ೨೦ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನು, ‘ನಾನು ಮದುವೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಬರುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ’ ಅಂದನು.

"Another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'

21 ೨೧ ಆ ಆಳು ಬಂದು ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನಿಗೆ ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಮನೆಯ ಯಜಮಾನನು ಸಿಟ್ಟುಗೊಂಡು ಆಳಿಗೆ, ‘ನೀನು ತಟ್ಟನೆ ಈ ಊರಿನ ಬೀದಿಬೀದಿಗೂ ಸಂದುಸಂದಿಗೂ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಡವರು, ಅಂಗಹೀನರು, ಕುರುಡರು, ಕುಂಟರು, ಇಂಥವರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

"That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.'

22 ೨೨ ಬಳಿಕ ಆ ಆಳು, ‘ಅಯ್ಯಾ, ನೀನು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ಸ್ಥಳ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ’ ಅಂದನು.

"The servant said, 'Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.'

23 ೨೩ ಆಗ ಆ ಯಜಮಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಆಳಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ‘ನೀನು ಹಾದಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಬೀದಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದವರನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತಮಾಡಿ ಒಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ, ನನ್ನ ಮನೆ ತುಂಬಲಿ.

"The lord said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24 ೨೪ ಆದರೆ ಔತಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲು ಆಮಂತ್ರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ನಾನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿದ ಅಡಿಗೆಯ ರುಚಿಯನ್ನು ಸವಿಯಬಾರದು’ ಎಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಅಂದನು.

For I tell you that none of those individuals who were invited will taste of my supper.'"

25 ೨೫ ಬಹು ಜನರು ಗುಂಪುಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾ ಇರಲು ಆತನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ,

Now large crowds were going with him. He turned and said to them,

26 ೨೬ “ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿ, ಹೆಂಡತಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಅಣ್ಣತಮ್ಮಂದಿರು, ಅಕ್ಕತಂಗಿಯರು ಇವರನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಸಹ ಹಗೆಮಾಡದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯನಾಗಿರಲಾರನು.

"If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

27 ೨೭ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಲುಬೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರದ ಹೊರತು ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯನಾಗಿರಲಾರನು.

Whoever does not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

28 ೨೮ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಒಂದು ಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸಿದರೆ ಅವನು ಮೊದಲು ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಖರ್ಚು ಆದೀತು, ಅದನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕಾಗುವಷ್ಟು ಹಣ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆಯೋ ಎಂದು ಲೆಕ್ಕಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?

29 ೨೯ ಹೀಗೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕಮಾಡದೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರ ಹಾಕಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ನೋಡುವವರೆಲ್ಲರು,

Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,

30 ೩೦ ‘ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಂತೂ ತೊಡಗಿದನು, ಕೆಲಸಪೂರೈಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದನು’ ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡಾರು.

saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to finish.'

31 ೩೧ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಯಾವ ಅರಸನಾದರೂ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಅರಸನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ದಂಡು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವವನನ್ನು ತಾನು ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ದಂಡಿನಿಂದ ಎದುರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಶಕ್ತನಾಗುವೆನೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂದು ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಆಲೋಚಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?

Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

32 ೩೨ ತಾನು ಶಕ್ತನಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ಬರುವ ಅರಸನು ಇನ್ನೂ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ರಾಯಭಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಸಂಧಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for conditions of peace.

33 ೩೩ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವನೇ ಆಗಲಿ ತನಗಿರುವುದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯನಾಗಿರಲಾರನು.

So therefore whoever of you who does not renounce all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.

34 ೩೪ “ಉಪ್ಪಂತೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಪದಾರ್ಥವೇ. ಉಪ್ಪು ಸಪ್ಪಗಾದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನಾತರಿಂದ ರುಚಿಬರಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ?

Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?

35 ೩೫ ಅದು ಭೂಮಿಗಾದರೂ ತಿಪ್ಪೆಗಾದರೂ ಉಪಯೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅದನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಿಸಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಿವಿಯುಳ್ಳವನು ಕೇಳಲಿ” ಅಂದನು.

It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
