ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 1

1 ೧ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ರಾಮಾತಯಿಮ್ ಚೋಫೀಮ್ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಕಾನನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿದ್ದನು. ಇವನು ಯೆರೋಹಾಮನ ಮಗನೂ ಎಲೀಹುವಿನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ ತೋಹುವಿನ ಮರಿಮಗನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದನು. ತೋಹು ಎಂಬವನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯನಾದ ಚೂಫನ ಮಗನು.

Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

2 ೨ ಎಲ್ಕಾನನಿಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಿದ್ದರು. ಮೊದಲನೆಯವಳು ಹನ್ನಳು, ಎರಡನೆಯವಳು ಪೆನಿನ್ನಳು. ಪೆನಿನ್ನಳಿಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿದ್ದರು; ಹನ್ನಳಿಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

3 ೩ ಅವನು ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷವೂ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿ ಆತನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ತನ್ನ ಊರಿನಿಂದ ಶೀಲೋವಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಏಲಿಯನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಹೊಫ್ನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಫೀನೆಹಾಸ್ ಎಂಬವರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಯಾಜಕರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

4 ೪ ಎಲ್ಕಾನನು ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸಿದಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಪೆನಿನ್ನಳಿಗೂ ಆಕೆಯ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗಂಡು ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಭಾಗಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

5 ೫ ಅವನು ಹನ್ನಳನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದರೂ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಕೆಯ ಗರ್ಭವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಆಕೆಗೆ ಎರಡು ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

6 ೬ ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆಕೆಯ ಸವತಿಯಾದ ಪೆನಿನ್ನಳು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಂಜೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೆಣಕಿ ನೋಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.

And her adversary also provoked her sore, in order to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

7 ೭ ಅವರು ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷವೂ ಕುಟುಂಬವಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪೆನಿನ್ನಳು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೆಣಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಹನ್ನಳು ಊಟ ಮಾಡದೆ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಳು.

And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

8 ೮ ಆಗ ಆಕೆಯ ಗಂಡನಾದ ಎಲ್ಕಾನನು ಆಕೆಗೆ “ಹನ್ನಾ, ಏಕೆ ಅಳುತ್ತೀ? ಊಟ ಮಾಡದಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವೇನು? ನೀನು ವ್ಯಸನಪಡುವುದೇಕೆ? ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಗಂಡು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದೇನಲ್ಲಾ” ಅಂದನು.

Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weep you? and why eat you not? and why is your heart grieved? am not I better to you than ten sons?

9 ೯ ಅವರು ಶೀಲೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಮೇಲೆ, ಹನ್ನಳು ಎದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಳು. ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಏಲಿಯು ಮಂದಿರದ್ವಾರದ ನಿಲುವುಗಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಪೀಠದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

10 ೧೦ ಹನ್ನಳು ಬಹುದುಃಖದಿಂದ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಸುರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ,

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

11 ೧೧ “ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಪರಾಂಬರಿಸು; ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯನ್ನು ಮರೆಯದೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ನನಗೊಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು; ಅವನು ಜೀವದಿಂದಿರುವ ತನಕ ನಿನ್ನವನಾಗಿಯೇ ಇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿಸುವೆನು; ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕ್ಷೌರ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಗೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿ ಹರಕೆಮಾಡಿದಳು.

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give unto your handmaid a male child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

12 ೧೨ ಆಕೆಯು ಬಹಳ ಹೊತ್ತಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಏಲಿಯು ಆಕೆಯ ಬಾಯನ್ನೇ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

13 ೧೩ ಆಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ತುಟಿಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಅಲ್ಲಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು; ಶಬ್ದ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆಕೆಯು ಮದ್ಯಪಾನಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾಳೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು

Now Hannah, she spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

14 ೧೪ ಏಲಿಯು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಕುಡಿತದ ಅಮಲು ಇನ್ನೂ ಇಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸದ ನಿಶೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಲಿ” ಅಂದನು.

And Eli said unto her, How long will you be drunken? put away your wine from you.

15 ೧೫ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಹನ್ನಳು “ಸ್ವಾಮೀ, ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ; ನಾನು ಬಹು ದುಃಖಪೀಡಿತಳು; ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನಾದರೂ ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಮದ್ಯವನ್ನಾದರೂ ಕುಡಿದವಳಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನ ಮನೋವೇದನೆಯನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ತೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

16 ೧೬ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯಾದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಯೋಗ್ಯಳೆಂದು ನೆನಸಬೇಡ; ಈವರೆಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದ ಚಿಂತೆಯನ್ನೂ, ವ್ಯಥೆಯನ್ನೂ ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.

Count not your handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken until now.

17 ೧೭ ಆಗ ಏಲಿಯು ಆಕೆಗೆ, “ಸಮಾಧಾನದಿಂದ ಹೋಗು; ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದನು.

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant you your petition that you have asked of him.

18 ೧೮ ಹನ್ನಳು ಏಲಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಟಾಕ್ಷವಿರಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಊಟಮಾಡಿದಳು. ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಕೆಯ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ದುಃಖವು ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲ.

And she said, Let your handmaid find grace in your sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

19 ೧೯ ಅವರು ಮರುದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿ ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಎಲ್ಕಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಹನ್ನಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಗಮಿಸಲು, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆಕೆಯು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾದಳು.

And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

20 ೨೦ ಹನ್ನಳು ದಿನತುಂಬಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡೆನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಆ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ಸಮುವೇಲನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು.

Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

21 ೨೧ ಎಲ್ಕಾನನು ಎಂದಿನಂತೆ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ ಹರಕೆಸಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಶೀಲೋವಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧನಾಗಲು ಹನ್ನಳು

And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

22 ೨೨ “ಮಗನು ಮೊಲೆಬಿಡುವ ವರೆಗೂ ನಾನು ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.

But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.

23 ೨೩ ಆಕೆಯ ಗಂಡನಾದ ಎಲ್ಕಾನನು ಆಕೆಗೆ “ನಿನಗೆ ಸರಿತೋರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಆಗಲಿ; ಮಗನು ಮೊಲೆಬಿಡುವವರೆಗೆ ಇರು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಲಿ” ಅಂದನು. ಮಗನು ಮೊಲೆಬಿಡುವ ತನಕ ಹನ್ನಳು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಾಕಿದಳು.

And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seems you good; tarry until you have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

24 ೨೪ ಅನಂತರ ಆಕೆಯು ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷದ ಒಂದು ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಒಂದು ಏಫಾ ಹಿಟ್ಟನ್ನೂ, ಒಂದು ತಿತ್ತಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಪುತ್ರನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶೀಲೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಳು. ಮಗನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.

25 ೨೫ ಅವರು ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನು ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಡಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಏಲಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು.

And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

26 ೨೬ ಹನ್ನಳು ಏಲಿಗೆ “ಸ್ವಾಮೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ; ಮೊದಲು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ನಾನೇ.

And she said, Oh my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman that stood by you here, praying unto the LORD.

27 ೨೭ ಆತನು ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ಫಲವಾಗಿ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ ಮಗನು ಇವನೇ;

For this child I prayed; and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him:

28 ೨೮ ನಾನು ಇವನನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೇ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಇವನು ಜೀವದಿಂದಿರುವ ತನಕ ಆತನಿಗೇ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತನಾಗಿರುವನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು. ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರು ಶಿಲೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿದರು.

Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
