ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 13

1 ೧ ಸೌಲನು ಅರಸನಾದಾಗ ಮೂವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಆಳಿದನು.

Saul was ruling for less than a year, when he ruled during year two over Israel,

2 ೨ ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಂದ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು, ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಿಕ್ಮಾಷಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಬೇತೇಲಿನ ಗುಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದರು. ಒಂದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಗಿಬೆಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೋನಾತಾನನ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಉಳಿದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಅವರವರ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

that Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel, of which two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the hill country of Bethel, and one thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. And the rest of the people he sent away, each to his own home.

3 ೩ ಯೋನಾತಾನನು ಗೆಬದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕಾವಲುಪಡೆಯ ಪಾಳೆಯವನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದನು. ಈ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತು. ಸೌಲನು “ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಬ್ರಿಯರು ಕೇಳಲಿ” ಎಂದು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ತುತ್ತೂರಿ ಊದಿಸಿದನು.

Jonathan struck the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba: and the Philistines heard of it. Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, "Let the Hebrews hear."

4 ೪ ಸೌಲನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕಾವಲುಪಡೆಯ ಪಾಳೆಯವನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ತಾವು ಅವರ ದ್ವೇಷಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾದೆವೆಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಿಳಿದು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

All Israel heard that Saul had struck the garrison of the Philistines, and also that Israel has become repulsive to the Philistines. Then the people were summoned to Saul at Gilgal.

5 ೫ ಆಗ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ರಥಬಲವನ್ನೂ, ಆರು ಸಾವಿರ ಅಶ್ವಬಲವನ್ನೂ, ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮರಳಿನಷ್ಟು ಅಸಂಖ್ಯವಾದ ಕಾಲಾಳುಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಬೇತಾವೆನಿನ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಿಕ್ಮಾಷಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

The Philistines assembled themselves together to fight with Israel, and brought up against Israel three thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude: and they came up, and camped in Michmash, eastward of Beth Aven.

6 ೬ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಕೇಡು ಬಂದಿತು. ತಾವು ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೇವೆಂದು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿದು ಗವಿ, ಕಾಡು, ಬಂಡೆ, ನೆಲಮನೆ, ಗುಂಡಿ ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡರು.

When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait (for the people were distressed), then the people hid themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in coverts, and in pits.

7 ೭ ಕೆಲವರು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆದಾಟಿ ಗಾದ್ಯರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೂ, ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದರು. ಸೌಲನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದವರು ಭಯದಿಂದ ನಡುಗುತ್ತ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದರು.

Now some of the Hebrews had gone over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead; but as for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.

8 ೮ ಸೌಲನು ಸಮುವೇಲನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಂತೆ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಏಳು ದಿನ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು ಚದರಿಹೋದರು.

And he stayed seven days, according to the time that Samuel had said. But Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and the people began to abandon him.

9 ೯ ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ಜನರಿಂದ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮಕ್ಕೂ, ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಯಜ್ಞಕ್ಕೂ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ತರಿಸಿ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.

Saul said, "Bring here the burnt offering to me, and the peace offerings." He offered the burnt offering.

10 ೧೦ ಅದು ಮುಗಿಯುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲೇ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಬಂದನು. ಸೌಲನು ಅವನನ್ನು ವಂದಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲು

It came to pass that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, look, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might greet him.

11 ೧೧ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಅವನನ್ನು, “ಇದೇನು ನೀನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವನು, “ಜನರು ಚದರಿಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನೂ, ನೀನು ನಿಯಮಿತಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾರದಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಮಿಕ್ಮಾಷಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿದೆನು.

Samuel said, "What have you done?" Saul said, "Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Michmash;

12 ೧೨ ಆಗ ನಾನು ‘ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದಾರು, ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ದಯೆಯನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದು, ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾದೆನು” ಅಂದನು.

therefore I said, 'Now the Philistines will come down on me to Gilgal, and I haven't entreated the favor of the LORD.' I forced myself therefore, and offered the burnt offering."

13 ೧೩ ಆಗ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ನೀನು ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದೆ; ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೈಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ ಆತನು ನಿನ್ನ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಥಿರಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which he commanded you; for now the LORD would have established your kingdom on Israel forever.

14 ೧೪ ಈಗಲಾದರೋ ನಿನ್ನ ಅರಸುತನವು ನಿಲ್ಲುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನೀನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಹೋದುದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ತನಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪುವ ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬ ಪುರುಷನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಜೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಭುವಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and the LORD has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept that which the LORD commanded you."

15 ೧೫ ಅನಂತರ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಗಿಬೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು.

And Samuel arose and departed from Gilgal, and the rest of the people went up after Saul to meet him after the men of war, when they had come up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people who were present with him, about six hundred men.

16 ೧೬ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಿದಾಗ ಆರು ನೂರು ಪುರುಷರಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರೊಡನೆ ಅವನೂ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋನಾತಾನನೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಗೆಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಮಿಕ್ಮಾಷಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.

Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people who were present with them, stayed in Geba of Benjamin: but the Philistines camped in Michmash.

17 ೧೭ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಪಾಳೆಯದಿಂದ ಮೂರು ಗುಂಪುಗಳು ಹೊರಟು, ಒಂದು ಗುಂಪು ಒಫ್ರದ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಶುವಲ್‌ ನಾಡಿಗೂ,

The spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned to the way that leads to Ophrah, to the land of Shual;

18 ೧೮ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಗುಂಪು ಬೇತ್‌ಹೋರೋನಿನ ಕಡೆಗೂ, ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಜೆಬೋಯೀಮಿನ ಕಣಿವೆಯ ಕೆಳಗಿರುವ ಅರಣ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೂ ಹೋದವು.

and another company turned the way to Beth Horon; and another company turned the way of the border that looks down on the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness.

19 ೧೯ ಇಬ್ರಿಯರು ಈಟಿಕತ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದೆಂದು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಕಮ್ಮಾರರೇ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel; for the Philistines had said, "Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears."

20 ೨೦ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ನೇಗಿಲಿನ ಗುಳ, ಸಲಿಕೆ, ಕೊಡಲಿ, ಗುದ್ದಲಿ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿತ ಮಾಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಹತ್ತಿರವೇ ಹೋಗಬೇಕಿತ್ತು.

But all Israel would go down to the Philistines, each to sharpen his plowshare, mattock, axe, and sickle;

21 ೨೧ ಗುದ್ದಲಿ, ಸಲಿಕೆ, ತ್ರಿಶೂಲ, ಕೊಡಲಿ, ಮುಳ್ಳುಗೋಲು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹದಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿತ ಮಾಡುವ ಕಲ್ಲು ಮಾತ್ರ ಇತ್ತು.

and the charge was one payim for the plowshares and for the mattocks, and three shekels for picks and axes and to set the goads.

22 ೨೨ ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ ಸೌಲ ಮತ್ತು ಯೋನಾತಾನರ ಹೊರತು ಅವರ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಾದರೂ, ಕತ್ತಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಬರ್ಜಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan; but Saul and his son Jonathan had them.

23 ೨೩ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕಾವಲುದಂಡು ಮಿಕ್ಮಾಷಿನ ಕಣಿವೆಯ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟಿತು.

The garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.
