ಅರಸುಗಳು - ಪ್ರಥಮ ಭಾಗ 19
1 ೧ ಎಲೀಯನು ಬಾಳನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅಹಾಬನು ಈಜೆಬೆಲಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
And Achaab told Jezabel his wife all that Eliu [had] done, and how he [had] slain the prophets with the sword.
2 ೨ ಈಜೆಬೆಲಳು ಎಲೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದಂತೆ ನಾಳೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯದೇ ಹೋದರೆ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ನನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಳು.
And Jezabel sent to Eliu, and said, If you are Eliu and I am Jezabel, God do so to me, and more also, if I do not make your life by this time to-morrow as the life of one of them.
3 ೩ ಅವನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೊಡನೆ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
And Eliu feared, and rose, and departed for his life: and he comes to Bersabee [to] the land of Juda, and he left his servant there.
4 ೪ ತರುವಾಯ ತಾನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಅರಣ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಒಂದು ದಿನದ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಹೋಗಿ ಒಂದು ಜಾಲೀ ಗಿಡದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಮರಣವನ್ನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ನನಗೆ ಸಾಕಾಯಿತು, ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡು. ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗಿಂತ ಉತ್ತಮನಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿ ಅದೇ ಗಿಡದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
And he himself went a day's journey in the wilderness, and came and sat under a juniper tree; and asked concerning his life that he might die, and said, Let it be enough now, O Lord, take, I pray you, my life from me; for I am no better than my fathers.
And he lay down and slept there under a tree; and behold, some one touched him, and said to him, Arise and eat.
6 ೬ ಎಲೀಯನು ಎದ್ದು ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ ಕೆಂಡದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುಟ್ಟ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯೂ ಒಂದು ತಂಬಿಗೆ ನೀರು ತನ್ನ ತಲೆಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತಿಂದು, ಕುಡಿದು ತಿರುಗಿ ಮಲಗಿದನು.
And Eliu looked, and, behold, at his head there was a cake of meal and a cruse of water; and he arose, and ate and drank, and returned and lay down.
7 ೭ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೂತನು ಎರಡನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ತಟ್ಟಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಎದ್ದು ಊಟ ಮಾಡು, ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮೀರುವಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದನು.
And the angel of the Lord returned again, and touched him, and said to him, Arise, and eat, for the journey [is] far from you.
And he arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights to mount Choreb.
9 ೯ ಹೋರೇಬಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಒಂದು ಗವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡನು. ಆಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದ, “ಎಲೀಯನೇ ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲೇನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀ?” ಎಂಬ ವಾಣಿಯು ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು.
And he entered there into a cave, and rested there; and, behold, the word of the Lord [came] to him, and he said, What [do] you here, Eliu?
10 ೧೦ ಅವನು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ, “ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ದೇವರೇ, ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ನಿನ್ನ ನಿಬಂಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಉಳಿದು ನಿನ್ನ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Eliu said, I have been very jealous for the Lord Almighty, because the children of Israel have forsaken you: they have digged down your altars, and have slain your prophets with the sword; and I only am left alone, and they seek my life to take it.
11 ೧೧ ಆಗ ಪುನಃ, “ನೀನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲು” ಎಂಬ ವಾಣಿಯಾಯಿತು. ಆಹಾ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾದು ಹೋದನು. ಆತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಪರ್ವತಗಳು ಭೇದಿಸಿ ಬಂಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪುಡಿ ಪುಡಿಮಾಡುವಂಥ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿಯು ಬೀಸಿತು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ತರುವಾಯ ಭೂಕಂಪವಾಯಿತು, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಆತನಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And he said, You shall go forth to-morrow, and shall stand before the Lord in the mount; behold, the Lord will pass by. And, behold, a great [and] strong wind rending the mountains, and crushing the rocks before the Lord; [but] the Lord [was] not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the Lord [was] not in the earthquake:
and after the earthquake a fire; [but] the Lord [was] not in the fire: and after the fire the voice of a gentle breeze.
13 ೧೩ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಎಲೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಕಂಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಮೋರೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಗವಿಯ ದ್ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತನು. ಆಗ, “ಎಲೀಯನೇ ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲೇನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀ?” ಎಂಬ ವಾಣಿಯು ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು.
And it came to pass when Eliu heard, that he wrapt his face in his mantle, and went forth and stood in the cave: and, behold, a voice [came] to him and said, What [do] you here, Eliu?
14 ೧೪ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ನಿನ್ನ ನಿಬಂಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಉಳಿದು ನಿನ್ನ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Eliu said, I have been very jealous for the Lord Almighty; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, and they have overthrown your altars, and have slain your prophets with the sword! and I am left entirely alone, and they seek my life to take it.
15 ೧೫ ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಬಂದ ದಾರಿಯಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ದಮಸ್ಕದ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗು, ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ಹಜಾಯೇಲನನ್ನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸು.
And the Lord said to him, Go, return, and you shall come into the way of the wilderness of Damascus: and you shall go and anoint Azael to be king over Syria.
16 ೧೬ ನಿಂಷಿಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೇಹುವನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ, ಆಬೇಲ್ ಮೆಹೋಲದವನೂ ಶಾಫಾಟನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಎಲೀಷನನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸು.
And Ju the son of Namessi shall you anoint to be king over Israel; and Elisaie the son of Saphat shall you anoint to be prophet in your room.
17 ೧೭ ಹಜಾಯೇಲನ ಕತ್ತಿಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರನ್ನು ಯೇಹುವು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವನು. ಅವನ ಕತ್ತಿಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರನ್ನು ಎಲೀಷನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವನು.
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapes from the sword of Azael, Ju shall kill; and him that escapes from the sword of Ju, Elisaie shall kill.
18 ೧೮ ಆದರೆ ಬಾಳನ ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬೀಳದೆಯೂ, ಅದನ್ನು ಮುದ್ದಿಡದೆಯೂ ಇರುವ ಏಳು ಸಾವಿರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And you shall leave in Israel seven thousand men, all the knees which had not bowed themselves to Baal, and every mouth which had not worshipped him.
19 ೧೯ ಎಲೀಯನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಶಾಫಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಲೀಷನನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು. ಅವನು ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಉಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಜೋಡಿ ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದು ಹನ್ನೆರಡನೆ ಜೋಡಿಯಿಂದ ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಉಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಎಲೀಯನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹಾದುಹೋಗುವಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಕಂಬಳಿಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿದನು.
And he departed thence, and finds Elisaie the son of Saphat, and he was ploughing with oxen; [there were] twelve yoke before him, and he with the twelve, and he passed by to him, and cast his mantle upon him.
20 ೨೦ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಅವನು ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದು ಎಲೀಯನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟು ಬರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಲಿ, ಅನಂತರ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವೆನು” ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲೀಯನು “ಹೋಗು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಮರೆಯಬೇಡ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Elisaie left the cattle, and ran after Eliu and said, I will kiss my father, and follow after you. And Eliu said, Return, for I have done [a work] for you.
21 ೨೧ ಎಲೀಷನು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ ತಾನು ಉಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜೋಡಿ ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ವಧಿಸಿ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ರಂಟೆಯ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಬೇಯಿಸಿ, ಜನರಿಗೆ ಔತಣಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಅವನು ಎದ್ದು ಎಲೀಯನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ ಅವನ ಸೇವಕನಾದನು.
And he returned from following him, and took a yoke of oxen, and killed them, and boiled them with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate: and he arose, and went after Eliu, and ministered to him.
