ಕೊರಿಂಥದವರಿಗೆ ಬರೆದ ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ 8

1 ೧ ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಆಹಾರಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತಾದರೋ. “ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವುಂಟೆಂದು” ನಾವು ಬಲ್ಲೆವು. ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯು ಉಬ್ಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯು ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Concerning now the idol-sacrifices, we know indeed all knowledge we have. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

2 ೨ ಒಬ್ಬನು ತಾನು ಏನಾದರೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸುವುದಾದರೆ ಅವನು ತಿಳಿಯಬೇಕಾದ ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಇನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

If (now *k) anyone thinks (to have known *N+kO) anything, (not yet *N+kO) (no [thing] *k) (he knew *N+kO) even as it is necessary to know;

3 ೩ ಆದರೆ ಯಾವನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುತ್ತಾನೋ ದೇವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

If however anyone loves God, he has known by Him.

4 ೪ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಆಹಾರಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವುದರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ, “ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಗ್ರಹವು ಏನೂ ಅಲ್ಲವೆಂದು” ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು “ಒಬ್ಬ ದೇವರಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದೂ” ಬಲ್ಲೆವು.

Concerning the eating therefore of the idol-sacrifices we know that no [thing] an idol [is] in [the] world and that [there is] no God (other *k) only except one.

5 ೫ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲಾಗಲಿ ದೇವರುಗಳೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂಥವುಗಳು ಅನೇಕವಿದ್ದರೂ, “ದೇವರುಗಳೆಂದೂ ಕರ್ತರೆಂದೂ ಪೂಜಿಸುವಂಥವುಗಳು” ಬಹಳವಿದ್ದರೂ,

Even truly if indeed if indeed there are [those] named gods whether in heaven or on earth, as there are gods many and lords many;

6 ೬ “ನಮಗಾದರೋ ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದೇವರು; ಆತನೇ ಸಮಸ್ತಕ್ಕೂ ಮೂಲಕಾರಣನು; ನಾವು ಜೀವಿಸುವುದು ಆತನಿಗಾಗಿಯೇ, ಮತ್ತು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೆಂಬ ಏಕ ಕರ್ತನು ನಮಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಆತನ ಮುಖಾಂತರವೇ ಸಮಸ್ತವೂ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ನಾವೂ ಆತನ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಉಂಟಾದೆವು.”

yet to us [there is] one God the Father of whom [are] the [things] all and we ourselves for Him, and one Lord Jesus Christ through whom [are] the [things] all and we ourselves through Him.

7 ೭ ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ, ಈ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯು ಎಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ, ಕೆಲವರು ಈ ವರೆಗೂ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ರೂಢಿಯಲ್ಲಿದರಿಂದ ತಾವು ತಿನ್ನುವ ಈ ಆಹಾರವು ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದೆಂದು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಅವರ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯು ಬಲಹೀನವಾದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಕಲುಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿದೆ.

But not in all [is] this knowledge; Some now (by custom *N+KO) until now of the idol as of an idol-sacrifice eat, and the conscience of them weak being it is defiled.

8 ೮ ಆದರೆ ನಾವು ತಿನ್ನುವ ಆಹಾರವು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ತಿನ್ನದಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಷ್ಟವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ತಿನ್ನುವುದರಿಂದ ಲಾಭವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.

Food however us not (will commend *N+kO) to God; neither (for *ko) if not we shall eat [still] do we come short [then] nor if we shall eat (have we an advantage. *NK+o)

9 ೯ ಆದರೆ ಈ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯವು ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಹೀನನಾದವನಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾಗದಂತೆ ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಿರಿ.

do be careful however lest perhaps the right of you this an occasion of stumbling may become to those (weak. *N+kO)

10 ೧೦ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾದ ನೀನೇ ವಿಗ್ರಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ದುರ್ಬಲವಾದ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಸಹೋದರನು ಕಂಡರೆ ಅವನೂ ಕೂಡ ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಆಹಾರಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಧೈರ್ಯಗೊಂಡನಲ್ಲವೇ.

If for anyone shall see you who is having knowledge in an idol’s temple eating, surely the conscience of him weak being he will be encouraged the idol-sacrifices to eat?

11 ೧೧ ಹೀಗೆ ಈ ನಿನ್ನ ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಆ ಬಲಹೀನ ಸಹೋದರನು ನಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವನಿಗಾಗಿಯೂ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಕೊಟ್ಟನಲ್ಲವೇ.

(Is destroyed *N+KO) (for *N+kO) the [one] who is being weak (through *N+kO) your knowledge, (the *no) brother for whom Christ died.

12 ೧೨ ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ನೀವು ಸಹೋದರರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ದುರ್ಬಲವಾದ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಯಿಸಿದರೆ ನೀವು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಪಾಪಮಾಡುವವರಾಗುತ್ತೀರಿ.

Thus then sinning against the brothers and wounding their conscience being weak, against Christ you sin.

13 ೧೩ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆಹಾರಪದಾರ್ಥವು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾಗುವುದಾದರೆ ನಾನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲಾ. (aiōn g165)

Therefore if food snares the brother of mine, certainly not shall I eat meat to the age so that not the brother of mine I may snare. (aiōn g165)
