マタイの福音書 25
1 そこで、天の御国は、たとえて言えば、それぞれがともしびを持って、花婿を出迎える十人の娘のようです。
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 そのうち五人は愚かで、五人は賢かった。
And five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish.
3 愚かな娘たちは、ともしびは持っていたが、油を用意しておかなかった。
They that [were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 賢い娘たちは、自分のともしびといっしょに、入れ物に油を入れて持っていた。
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 花婿が来るのが遅れたので、みな、うとうとして眠り始めた。
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 ところが、夜中になって、『そら、花婿だ。迎えに出よ。』と叫ぶ声がした。
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 娘たちは、みな起きて、自分のともしびを整えた。
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 ところが愚かな娘たちは、賢い娘たちに言った。『油を少し私たちに分けてください。私たちのともしびは消えそうです。』
And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 しかし、賢い娘たちは答えて言った。『いいえ、あなたがたに分けてあげるにはとうてい足りません。それよりも店に行って、自分のをお買いなさい。』
But the wise answered, saying, [Not so]; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 そこで、買いに行くと、その間に花婿が来た。用意のできていた娘たちは、彼といっしょに婚礼の祝宴に行き、戸がしめられた。
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 そのあとで、ほかの娘たちも来て、『ご主人さま、ご主人さま。あけてください。』と言った。
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 しかし、彼は答えて、『確かなところ、私はあなたがたを知りません。』と言った。
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 だから、目をさましていなさい。あなたがたは、その日、その時を知らないからです。
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14 天の御国は、しもべたちを呼んで、自分の財産を預け、旅に出て行く人のようです。
For [the kingdom of heaven is] as a man travelling into a far country, [who] called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 彼は、おのおのその能力に応じて、ひとりには五タラント、ひとりには二タラント、もうひとりには一タラントを渡し、それから旅に出かけた。
And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 五タラント預かった者は、すぐに行って、それで商売をして、さらに五タラントもうけた。
Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made [them] other five talents.
17 同様に、二タラント預かった者も、さらに二タラントもうけた。
And likewise he that [had received] two, he also gained other two.
18 ところが、一タラント預かった者は、出て行くと、地を掘って、その主人の金を隠した。
But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 さて、よほどたってから、しもべたちの主人が帰って来て、彼らと清算をした。
After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 すると、五タラント預かった者が来て、もう五タラント差し出して言った。『ご主人さま。私に五タラント預けてくださいましたが、ご覧ください。私はさらに五タラントもうけました。』
And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 その主人は彼に言った。『よくやった。良い忠実なしもべだ。あなたは、わずかな物に忠実だったから、私はあなたにたくさんの物を任せよう。主人の喜びをともに喜んでくれ。』
His lord said unto him, Well done, [thou] good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 二タラントの者も来て言った。『ご主人さま。私は二タラント預かりましたが、ご覧ください。さらに二タラントもうけました。』
He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 その主人は彼に言った。『よくやった。良い忠実なしもべだ。あなたは、わずかな物に忠実だったから、私はあなたにたくさんの物を任せよう。主人の喜びをともに喜んでくれ。』
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 ところが、一タラント預かっていた者も来て、言った。『ご主人さま。あなたは、蒔かない所から刈り取り、散らさない所から集めるひどい方だとわかっていました。
Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 私はこわくなり、出て行って、あなたの一タラントを地の中に隠しておきました。さあどうぞ、これがあなたの物です。』
And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, [there] thou hast [that is] thine.
26 ところが、主人は彼に答えて言った。『悪いなまけ者のしもべだ。私が蒔かない所から刈り取り、散らさない所から集めることを知っていたというのか。
His lord answered and said unto him, [Thou] wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 だったら、おまえはその私の金を、銀行に預けておくべきだった。そうすれば私は帰って来たときに、利息がついて返してもらえたのだ。
Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and [then] at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 だから、そのタラントを彼から取り上げて、それを十タラント持っている者にやりなさい。』
Take therefore the talent from him, and give [it] unto him which hath ten talents.
29 だれでも持っている者は、与えられて豊かになり、持たない者は、持っているものまでも取り上げられるのです。
For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 役に立たぬしもべは、外の暗やみに追い出しなさい。そこで泣いて歯ぎしりするのです。
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 人の子が、その栄光を帯びて、すべての御使いたちを伴って来るとき、人の子はその栄光の位に着きます。
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 そして、すべての国々の民が、その御前に集められます。彼は、羊飼いが羊と山羊とを分けるように、彼らをより分け、
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats:
33 羊を自分の右に、山羊を左に置きます。
And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 そうして、王は、その右にいる者たちに言います。『さあ、わたしの父に祝福された人たち。世の初めから、あなたがたのために備えられた御国を継ぎなさい。
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 あなたがたは、わたしが空腹であったとき、わたしに食べる物を与え、わたしが渇いていたとき、わたしに飲ませ、わたしが旅人であったとき、わたしに宿を貸し、
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 わたしが裸のとき、わたしに着る物を与え、わたしが病気をしたとき、わたしを見舞い、わたしが牢にいたとき、わたしをたずねてくれたからです。』
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 すると、その正しい人たちは、答えて言います。『主よ。いつ、私たちは、あなたが空腹なのを見て、食べる物を差し上げ、渇いておられるのを見て、飲ませてあげましたか。
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 いつ、あなたが旅をしておられるときに、泊まらせてあげ、裸なのを見て、着る物を差し上げましたか。
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed [thee]?
39 また、いつ、私たちは、あなたのご病気やあなたが牢におられるのを見て、おたずねしましたか。』
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 すると、王は彼らに答えて言います。『まことに、あなたがたに告げます。あなたがたが、これらのわたしの兄弟たち、しかも最も小さい者たちのひとりにしたのは、わたしにしたのです。』
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (aiōnios g166)
42 おまえたちは、わたしが空腹であったとき、食べる物をくれず、渇いていたときにも飲ませず、
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 わたしが旅人であったときにも泊まらせず、裸であったときにも着る物をくれず、病気のときや牢にいたときにもたずねてくれなかった。』
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 そのとき、彼らも答えて言います。『主よ。いつ、私たちは、あなたが空腹であり、渇き、旅をし、裸であり、病気をし、牢におられるのを見て、お世話をしなかったのでしょうか。』
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 すると、王は彼らに答えて言います。『まことに、おまえたちに告げます。おまえたちが、この最も小さい者たちのひとりにしなかったのは、わたしにしなかったのです。』
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me.
