ルカの福音書 7
1 イエスは、耳を傾けている民衆にこれらのことばをみな話し終えられると、カペナウムにはいられた。
After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 ところが、ある百人隊長に重んじられているひとりのしもべが、病気で死にかけていた。
A certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
3 百人隊長は、イエスのことを聞き、みもとにユダヤ人の長老たちを送って、しもべを助けに来てくださるようお願いした。
When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him Jewish elders, asking him to come and save his servant.
4 イエスのもとに来たその人たちは、熱心にお願いして言った。「この人は、あなたにそうしていただく資格のある人です。
When they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy for you to do this for him,
5 この人は、私たちの国民を愛し、私たちのために会堂を建ててくれた人です。」
for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us."
6 イエスは、彼らといっしょに行かれた。そして、百人隊長の家からあまり遠くない所に来られたとき、百人隊長は友人たちを使いに出して、イエスに伝えた。「主よ。わざわざおいでくださいませんように。あなたを私の屋根の下にお入れする資格は、私にはありません。
Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.
7 ですから、私のほうから伺うことさえ失礼と存じました。ただ、おことばをいただかせてください。そうすれば、私のしもべは必ずいやされます。
Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 と申しますのは、私も権威の下にある者ですが、私の下にも兵士たちがいまして、そのひとりに『行け。』と言えば行きますし、別の者に『来い。』と言えば来ます。また、しもべに『これをせよ。』と言えば、そのとおりにいたします。」
For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go.' and he goes; and to another, 'Come.' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
9 これを聞いて、イエスは驚かれ、ついて来ていた群衆のほうに向いて言われた。「あなたがたに言いますが、このようなりっぱな信仰は、イスラエルの中にも見たことがありません。」
When Jesus heard these things, he was amazed at him, and turned and said to the crowd who followed him, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel."
10 使いに来た人たちが家に帰ってみると、しもべはよくなっていた。
And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant in good health.
11 それから間もなく、イエスはナインという町に行かれた。弟子たちと大ぜいの人の群れがいっしょに行った。
It happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples, along with a large crowd, went with him.
12 イエスが町の門に近づかれると、やもめとなった母親のひとり息子が、死んでかつぎ出されたところであった。町の人たちが大ぜいその母親につき添っていた。
And when he drew near to the gate of the city, then look, a man who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large crowd from the city was with her.
13 主はその母親を見てかわいそうに思い、「泣かなくてもよい。」と言われた。
When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, "Do not cry."
14 そして近寄って棺に手をかけられると、かついでいた人たちが立ち止まったので、「青年よ。あなたに言う、起きなさい。」と言われた。
He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I tell you, arise."
15 すると、その死人が起き上がって、ものを言い始めたので、イエスは彼を母親に返された。
He who was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.
16 人々は恐れを抱き、「大預言者が私たちのうちに現われた。」とか、「神がその民を顧みてくださった。」などと言って、神をあがめた。
Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us." and, "God has visited his people."
17 イエスについてこの話がユダヤ全土と回りの地方一帯に広まった。
This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea, and in all the surrounding region.
18 さて、ヨハネの弟子たちは、これらのことをすべてヨハネに報告した。
The disciples of John told him about all these things.
19 すると、ヨハネは、弟子の中からふたりを呼び寄せて、主のもとに送り、「おいでになるはずの方は、あなたですか。それとも、私たちはほかの方を待つべきでしょうか。」と言わせた。
John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to the Lord, saying, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?"
20 ふたりはみもとに来て言った。「バプテスマのヨハネから遣わされてまいりました。『おいでになるはずの方は、あなたですか。それとも私たちはなおほかの方を待つべきでしょうか。』とヨハネが申しております。」
When the men had come to him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, 'Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?'"
21 ちょうどそのころ、イエスは、多くの人々を病気と苦しみと悪霊からいやし、また多くの盲人を見えるようにされた。
In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.
22 そして、答えてこう言われた。「あなたがたは行って、自分たちの見たり聞いたりしたことをヨハネに報告しなさい。盲人が見えるようになり、足なえが歩き、らい病人がきよめられ、つんぼの人が聞こえ、死人が生き返り、貧しい者に福音が宣べ伝えられています。
Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.
23 だれでも、わたしにつまずかない者は幸いです。」
Blessed is he who is not offended by me."
24 ヨハネの使いが帰ってから、イエスは群衆に、ヨハネについて話しだされた。「あなたがたは、何を見に荒野に出て行ったのですか。風に揺れる葦ですか。
When John's messengers had departed, he began to tell the crowds about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25 でなかったら、何を見に行ったのですか。柔らかい着物を着た人ですか。きらびやかな着物を着て、ぜいたくに暮らしている人たちなら宮殿にいます。
But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Look, those who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.
26 でなかったら、何を見に行ったのですか。預言者ですか。そのとおり。だが、わたしが言いましょう。預言者よりもすぐれた者をです。
But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
27 その人こそ、 『見よ、わたしは使いをあなたの前に遣わし、 あなたの道を、あなたの前に備えさせよう。』 と書かれているその人です。
This is he of whom it is written, 'Look, I send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.'
28 あなたがたに言いますが、女から生まれた者の中で、ヨハネよりもすぐれた人は、ひとりもいません。しかし、神の国で一番小さい者でも、彼よりすぐれています。
"I tell you, among those who are born of women there is none greater than John, yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."
29 ヨハネの教えを聞いたすべての民は、取税人たちさえ、ヨハネのバプテスマを受けて、神の正しいことを認めたのです。
When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been baptized with John's baptism.
30 これに反して、パリサイ人、律法の専門家たちは、彼からバプテスマを受けないで、神の自分たちに対するみこころを拒みました。
But the Pharisees and the Law scholars rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves.
31 では、この時代の人々は、何にたとえたらよいでしょう。何に似ているでしょう。
"To what then will I liken the people of this generation? What are they like?
32 市場にすわって、互いに呼びかけながら、こう言っている子どもたちに似ています。 『笛を吹いてやっても、君たちは踊らなかった。 弔いの歌を歌ってやっても、泣かなかった。』
They are like children who sit in the marketplace, and call one to another, saying, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance. We mourned, and you did not weep.'
33 というわけは、バプテスマのヨハネが来て、パンも食べず、ぶどう酒も飲まずにいると、『あれは悪霊につかれている。』とあなたがたは言うし、
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.'
34 人の子が来て、食べもし、飲みもすると、『あれ見よ。食いしんぼうの大酒飲み、取税人や罪人の仲間だ。』と言うのです。
The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look, a gluttonous man, and a drunkard; a friend of tax collectors and sinners.'
35 だが、知恵の正しいことは、そのすべての子どもたちが証明します。」
Wisdom is justified by all her children."
36 さて、あるパリサイ人が、いっしょに食事をしたい、とイエスを招いたので、そのパリサイ人の家にはいって食卓に着かれた。
One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat at the table.
37 すると、その町にひとりの罪深い女がいて、イエスがパリサイ人の家で食卓に着いておられることを知り、香油のはいった石膏のつぼを持って来て、
And look, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38 泣きながら、イエスのうしろで御足のそばに立ち、涙で御足をぬらし始め、髪の毛でぬぐい、御足に口づけして、香油を塗った。
Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 イエスを招いたパリサイ人は、これを見て、「この方がもし預言者なら、自分にさわっている女がだれで、どんな女であるか知っておられるはずだ。この女は罪深い者なのだから。」と心ひそかに思っていた。
Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner."
40 するとイエスは、彼に向かって、「シモン。あなたに言いたいことがあります。」と言われた。シモンは、「先生。お話しください。」と言った。
Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." He said, "Teacher, say on."
41 「ある金貸しから、ふたりの者が金を借りていた。ひとりは五百デナリ、ほかのひとりは五十デナリ借りていた。
"A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42 彼らは返すことができなかったので、金貸しはふたりとも赦してやった。 では、ふたりのうちどちらがよけいに金貸しを愛するようになるでしょうか。」
When they could not pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?"
43 シモンが、「よけいに赦してもらったほうだと思います。」と答えると、イエスは、「あなたの判断は当たっています。」と言われた。
Simon answered, "He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most." He said to him, "You have judged correctly."
44 そしてその女のほうを向いて、シモンに言われた。「この女を見ましたか。わたしがこの家にはいって来たとき、あなたは足を洗う水をくれなかったが、この女は、涙でわたしの足をぬらし、髪の毛でぬぐってくれました。
Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair.
45 あなたは、口づけしてくれなかったが、この女は、わたしがはいって来たときから足に口づけしてやめませんでした。
You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 あなたは、わたしの頭に油を塗ってくれなかったが、この女は、わたしの足に香油を塗ってくれました。
You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
47 だから、わたしは言うのです。『この女の多くの罪は赦されています。というのは、彼女はよけい愛したからです。しかし少ししか赦されない者は、少ししか愛しません。』」
Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."
48 そして女に、「あなたの罪は赦されています。」と言われた。
He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
49 すると、いっしょに食卓にいた人たちは、心の中でこう言い始めた。「罪を赦したりするこの人は、いったいだれだろう。」
And those who were reclining with him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"
50 しかし、イエスは女に言われた。「あなたの信仰が、あなたを救ったのです。安心して行きなさい。」
He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."
