ルカの福音書 4
1 さて、聖霊に満ちたイエスは、ヨルダンから帰られた。そして御霊に導かれて荒野におり、
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
2 四十日間、悪魔の試みに会われた。その間何も食べず、その時が終わると、空腹を覚えられた。
for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. When they were completed, he was hungry.
3 そこで、悪魔はイエスに言った。「あなたが神の子なら、この石に、パンになれと言いつけなさい。」
The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
4 イエスは答えられた。「『人はパンだけで生きるのではない。』と書いてある。」
Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Humankind cannot live by bread alone.'"
5 また、悪魔はイエスを連れて行き、またたくまに世界の国々を全部見せて、
And leading him up to a high mountain, the devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 こう言った。「この、国々のいっさいの権力と栄光とをあなたに差し上げましょう。それは私に任されているので、私がこれと思う人に差し上げるのです。
The devil said to him, "I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want.
7 ですから、もしあなたが私を拝むなら、すべてをあなたのものとしましょう。」
If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours."
8 イエスは答えて言われた。「『あなたの神である主を拝み、主にだけ仕えなさい。』と書いてある。」
Jesus answered and said to him, "It is written, 'You are to worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"
9 また、悪魔はイエスをエルサレムに連れて行き、神殿の頂に立たせて、こう言った。「あなたが神の子なら、ここから飛び降りなさい。
He led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,
10 『神は、御使いたちに命じてあなたを守らせる。』とも、
for it is written, 'He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you;'
11 『あなたの足が石に打ち当たることのないように、彼らの手で、あなたをささえさせる。』とも書いてあるからです。」
and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.'"
12 するとイエスは答えて言われた。「『あなたの神である主を試みてはならない。』と言われている。」
And Jesus, answering, said to him, "It is said, 'Do not test the Lord, your God.'"
13 誘惑の手を尽くしたあとで、悪魔はしばらくの間イエスから離れた。
When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until another time.
14 イエスは御霊の力を帯びてガリラヤに帰られた。すると、その評判が回り一帯に、くまなく広まった。
Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.
15 イエスは、彼らの会堂で教え、みなの人にあがめられた。
He taught in their synagogues, being praised by all.
16 それから、イエスはご自分の育ったナザレに行き、いつものとおり安息日に会堂にはいり、朗読しようとして立たれた。
He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 すると、預言者イザヤの書が手渡されたので、その書を開いて、こう書いてある所を見つけられた。
The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him, and unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,
18 「わたしの上に主の御霊がおられる。 主が、貧しい人々に福音を伝えるようにと、 わたしに油を注がれたのだから。 主はわたしを遣わされた。 捕われ人には赦免を、 盲人には目の開かれることを告げるために。 しいたげられている人々を自由にし、
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,
19 主の恵みの年を告げ知らせるために。」
and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
20 イエスは書を巻き、係りの者に渡してすわられた。会堂にいるみなの目がイエスに注がれた。
He closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 イエスは人々にこう言って話し始められた。「きょう、聖書のこのみことばが、あなたがたが聞いたとおり実現しました。」
He began to tell them, "Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
22 みなイエスをほめ、その口から出て来る恵みのことばに驚いた。そしてまた、「この人は、ヨセフの子ではないか。」と彼らは言った。
All testified about him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, "Is not this Joseph's son?"
23 イエスは言われた。「きっとあなたがたは、『医者よ。自分を直せ。』というたとえを引いて、カペナウムで行なわれたと聞いていることを、あなたの郷里のここでもしてくれ、と言うでしょう。」
He said to them, "Doubtless you will tell me this parable, 'Physician, heal yourself. Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.'"
24 また、こう言われた。「まことに、あなたがたに告げます。預言者はだれでも、自分の郷里では歓迎されません。
He said, "Truly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.
25 わたしが言うのは真実のことです。エリヤの時代に、三年六か月の間天が閉じて、全国に大ききんが起こったとき、イスラエルにもやもめは多くいたが、
But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.
26 エリヤはだれのところにも遣わされず、シドンのサレプタにいたやもめ女にだけ遣わされたのです。
Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
27 また、預言者エリシャのときに、イスラエルには、らい病人がたくさんいたが、そのうちのだれもきよめられないで、シリヤ人ナアマンだけがきよめられました。」
There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian."
28 これらのことを聞くと、会堂にいた人たちはみな、ひどく怒り、
They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things.
29 立ち上がってイエスを町の外に追い出し、町が立っていた丘のがけのふちまで連れて行き、そこから投げ落とそうとした。
They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.
30 しかしイエスは、彼らの真中を通り抜けて、行ってしまわれた。
But he, passing through the midst of them, went his way.
31 それからイエスは、ガリラヤの町カペナウムに下られた。そして、安息日ごとに、人々を教えられた。
He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. He was teaching them on the Sabbath day,
32 人々は、その教えに驚いた。そのことばに権威があったからである。
and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.
33 また、会堂に、汚れた悪霊につかれた人がいて、大声でわめいた。
In the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon, and he shouted with a loud voice,
34 「ああ、ナザレ人のイエス。いったい私たちに何をしようというのです。あなたは私たちを滅ぼしに来たのでしょう。私はあなたがどなたか知っています。神の聖者です。」
saying, "Ah. What have we to do with you, Jesus, Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are — the Holy One of God."
35 イエスは彼をしかって、「黙れ。その人から出て行け。」と言われた。するとその悪霊は人々の真中で、その人を投げ倒して出て行ったが、その人は別に何の害も受けなかった。
Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him." When the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
36 人々はみな驚いて、互いに話し合った。「今のおことばはどうだ。権威と力とでお命じになったので、汚れた霊でも出て行ったのだ。」
Amazement came on all, and they spoke together, one with another, saying, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."
37 こうしてイエスのうわさは、回りの地方の至る所に広まった。
News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.
38 イエスは立ち上がって会堂を出て、シモンの家にはいられた。すると、シモンのしゅうとめが、ひどい熱で苦しんでいた。人々は彼女のためにイエスにお願いした。
He rose up from the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they appealed to him about her.
39 イエスがその枕もとに来て、熱をしかりつけられると、熱がひき、彼女はすぐに立ち上がって彼らをもてなし始めた。
He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her. Immediately she rose up and served them.
40 日が暮れると、いろいろな病気で弱っている者をかかえた人たちがみな、その病人をみもとに連れて来た。イエスは、ひとりひとりに手を置いて、いやされた。
When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41 また、悪霊どもも、「あなたこそ神の子です。」と大声で叫びながら、多くの人から出て行った。イエスは、悪霊どもをしかって、ものを言うのをお許しにならなかった。彼らはイエスがキリストであることを知っていたからである。
Demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, "You are the Son of God." But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
42 朝になって、イエスは寂しい所に出て行かれた。群衆は、イエスを捜し回って、みもとに来ると、イエスが自分たちから離れて行かないよう引き止めておこうとした。
When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place, and the crowds looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he would not go away from them.
43 しかしイエスは、彼らにこう言われた。「ほかの町々にも、どうしても神の国の福音を宣べ伝えなければなりません。わたしは、そのために遣わされたのですから。」
But he said to them, "I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent."
44 そしてユダヤの諸会堂で、福音を告げ知らせておられた。
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
