ルカの福音書 3
1 皇帝テベリオの治世の第十五年、ポンテオ・ピラトがユダヤの総督、ヘロデがガリラヤの国主、その兄弟ピリポがイツリヤとテラコニテ地方の国主、ルサニヤがアビレネの国主であり、
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2 アンナスとカヤパが大祭司であったころ、神のことばが、荒野でザカリヤの子ヨハネに下った。
in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zechariah, in the wilderness.
3 そこでヨハネは、ヨルダン川のほとりのすべての地方に行って、罪が赦されるための悔い改めに基づくバプテスマを説いた。
He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.
4 そのことは預言者イザヤのことばの書に書いてあるとおりである。 「荒野で叫ぶ者の声がする。 『主の道を用意し、 主の通られる道をまっすぐにせよ。
As it is written in the scroll of the words of Isaiah the prophet, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.
5 すべての谷はうずめられ、 すべての山と丘とは低くされ、 曲がった所はまっすぐになり、 でこぼこ道は平らになる。
Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be made low, and the crooked will be made straight, and the rough ways smooth.
6 こうして、あらゆる人が、 神の救いを見るようになる。』」
And all humanity will see the salvation of God.'"
7 それで、ヨハネは、彼からバプテスマを受けようとして出て来た群衆に言った。「まむしのすえたち。だれが必ず来る御怒りをのがれるように教えたのか。
He said therefore to the crowds who went out to be baptized by him, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 それならそれで、悔い改めにふさわしい実を結びなさい。『われわれの先祖はアブラハムだ。』などと心の中で言い始めてはいけません。よく言っておくが、神は、こんな石ころからでも、アブラハムの子孫を起こすことがおできになるのです。
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say among yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father;' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
9 斧もすでに木の根元に置かれています。だから、良い実を結ばない木は、みな切り倒されて、火に投げ込まれます。」
Even now the axe also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire."
10 群衆はヨハネに尋ねた。「それでは、私たちはどうすればよいのでしょう。」
The crowds asked him, "What then must we do?"
11 彼は答えて言った。「下着を二枚持っている者は、一つも持たない者に分けなさい。食べ物を持っている者も、そうしなさい。」
He answered them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise."
12 取税人たちも、バプテスマを受けに出て来て、言った。「先生。私たちはどうすればよいのでしょう。」
Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what must we do?"
13 ヨハネは彼らに言った。「決められたもの以上には、何も取り立ててはいけません。」
He said to them, "Collect no more than that which is appointed to you."
14 兵士たちも、彼に尋ねて言った。「私たちはどうすればよいのでしょうか。」ヨハネは言った。「だれからも、力ずくで金をゆすったり、無実の者を責めたりしてはいけません。自分の給料で満足しなさい。」
Soldiers also asked him, saying, "What about us? What must we do?" He said to them, "Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages."
15 民衆は救い主を待ち望んでおり、みな心の中で、ヨハネについて、もしかするとこの方がキリストではあるまいか、と考えていたので、
As the people were in expectation, and all were wondering in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ,
16 ヨハネはみなに答えて言った。「私は水であなたがたにバプテスマを授けています。しかし、私よりもさらに力のある方がおいでになります。私などは、その方のくつのひもを解く値うちもありません。その方は、あなたがたに聖霊と火とのバプテスマをお授けになります。
John answered them all, "I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire,
17 また手に箕を持って脱穀場をことごとくきよめ、麦を倉に納め、殻を消えない火で焼き尽くされます。」
whose winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
18 ヨハネは、そのほかにも多くのことを教えて、民衆に福音を知らせた。
Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,
19 さて国主ヘロデは、その兄弟の妻ヘロデヤのことについて、また、自分の行なった悪事のすべてを、ヨハネに責められたので、
but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother's wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
20 ヨハネを牢に閉じ込め、すべての悪事にもう一つこの悪事を加えた。
added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 さて、民衆がみなバプテスマを受けていたころ、イエスもバプテスマをお受けになり、そして祈っておられると、天が開け、
Now it happened, when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened,
22 聖霊が、鳩のような形をして、自分の上に下られるのをご覧になった。また、天から声がした。「あなたは、わたしの愛する子、わたしはあなたを喜ぶ。」
and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying "You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased."
23 教えを始められたとき、イエスはおよそ三十歳で、人々からヨセフの子と思われていた。このヨセフは、ヘリの子、順次さかのぼって、
When he began, Jesus was about thirty years old, being the son, as was supposed, of Joseph, of Eli,
24 マタテの子、レビの子、メルキの子、ヤンナイの子、ヨセフの子、
of Mattat, of Levi, of Melchi, of Jannai, of Joseph,
25 マタテヤの子、アモスの子、ナホムの子、エスリの子、ナンガイの子、
of Mattithiah, of Amos, of Nahum, of Hesli, of Naggai,
26 マハテの子、マタテヤの子、シメイの子、ヨセクの子、ヨダの子、
of Mahath, of Mattithiah, of Shimei, of Joseph, of Judah,
27 ヨハナンの子、レサの子、ゾロバベルの子、サラテルの子、ネリの子、
of Johanan, of Rhesa, of Zerubbabel, of Shealtiel, of Neri,
28 メルキの子、アデイの子、コサムの子、エルマダムの子、エルの子、
of Melchi, of Addi, of Cosam, of Elmodam, of Er,
29 ヨシュアの子、エリエゼルの子、ヨリムの子、マタテの子、レビの子、
of Josi, of Eliezer, of Jorim, of Mattat, of Levi,
30 シメオンの子、ユダの子、ヨセフの子、ヨナムの子、エリヤキムの子、
of Simeon, of Judah, of Joseph, of Jehonan, of Eliakim,
31 メレヤの子、メナの子、マタタの子、ナタンの子、ダビデの子、
of Maleah, of Menan, of Mattattah, of Nathan, of David,
32 エッサイの子、オベデの子、ボアズの子、サラの子、ナアソンの子、
of Jesse, of Obed, of Boaz, of Salmon, of Nahshon,
33 アミナダブの子、アデミンの子、アルニの子、エスロンの子、パレスの子、ユダの子、
of Amminadab, of Ram, of Hezron, of Perez, of Judah,
34 ヤコブの子、イサクの子、アブラハムの子、テラの子、ナホルの子、
of Jacob, of Isaac, of Abraham, of Terah, of Nahor,
35 セルグの子、レウの子、ペレグの子、エベルの子、サラの子、
of Serug, of Reu, of Peleg, of Eber, of Shelah,
36 カイナンの子、アルパクサデの子、セムの子、ノアの子、ラメクの子、
of Kenan, of Arpachshad, of Shem, of Noah, of Lamech,
37 メトセラの子、エノクの子、ヤレデの子、マハラレルの子、カイナンの子、
of Methuselah, of Hanoch, of Jared, of Mahalalel, of Kenan,
38 エノスの子、セツの子、アダムの子、このアダムは神の子である。
of Enosh, of Seth, of Adam, of God.
