ルカの福音書 23
1 そこで、彼らは全員が立ち上がり、イエスをピラトのもとに連れて行った。
And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
2 そしてイエスについて訴え始めた。彼らは言った。「この人はわが国民を惑わし、カイザルに税金を納めることを禁じ、自分は王キリストだと言っていることがわかりました。」
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this [fellow] perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
3 するとピラトはイエスに、「あなたは、ユダヤ人の王ですか。」と尋ねた。イエスは答えて、「そのとおりです。」と言われた。
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest [it].
4 ピラトは祭司長たちや群衆に、「この人には何の罪も見つからない。」と言った。
Then said Pilate to the chief priests and [to] the people, I find no fault in this man.
5 しかし彼らはあくまで言い張って、「この人は、ガリラヤからここまで、ユダヤ全土で教えながら、この民を扇動しているのです。」と言った。
And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6 それを聞いたピラトは、この人はガリラヤ人かと尋ねて、
When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.
7 ヘロデの支配下にあるとわかると、イエスをヘロデのところに送った。ヘロデもそのころエルサレムにいたからである。
And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8 ヘロデはイエスを見ると非常に喜んだ。ずっと前からイエスのことを聞いていたので、イエスに会いたいと思っていたし、イエスの行なう何かの奇蹟を見たいと考えていたからである。
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long [season], because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9 それで、いろいろと質問したが、イエスは彼に何もお答えにならなかった。
Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10 祭司長たちと律法学者たちは立って、イエスを激しく訴えていた。
And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11 ヘロデは、自分の兵士たちといっしょにイエスを侮辱したり嘲弄したりしたあげく、はでな衣を着せて、ピラトに送り返した。
And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked [him], and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12 この日、ヘロデとピラトは仲よくなった。それまでは互いに敵対していたのである。
And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13 ピラトは祭司長たちと指導者たちと民衆とを呼び集め、
And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 こう言った。「あなたがたは、この人を、民衆を惑わす者として、私のところに連れて来たけれども、私があなたがたの前で取り調べたところ、あなたがたが訴えているような罪は別に何も見つかりません。
Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined [him] before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 ヘロデとても同じです。彼は私たちにこの人を送り返しました。見なさい。この人は、死罪に当たることは、何一つしていません。
No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16 だから私は、懲らしめたうえで、釈放します。」
I will therefore chastise him, and release [him].
17 しかし彼らは、声をそろえて叫んだ。「この人を除け。バラバを釈放しろ。」
(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this [man], and release unto us Barabbas:
19 バラバとは、都に起こった暴動と人殺しのかどで、牢にはいっていた者である。
(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20 ピラトは、イエスを釈放しようと思って、彼らに、もう一度呼びかけた。
Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21 しかし、彼らは叫び続けて、「十字架だ。十字架につけろ。」と言った。
But they cried, saying, Crucify [him], crucify him.
22 しかしピラトは三度目に彼らにこう言った。「あの人がどんな悪いことをしたというのか。あの人には、死に当たる罪は、何も見つかりません。だから私は、懲らしめたうえで、釈放します。」
And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let [him] go.
23 ところが、彼らはあくまで主張し続け、十字架につけるよう大声で要求した。そしてついにその声が勝った。
And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24 ピラトは、彼らの要求どおりにすることを宣告した。
And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 すなわち、暴動と人殺しのかどで牢にはいっていた男を願いどおりに釈放し、イエスを彼らに引き渡して好きなようにさせた。
And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26 彼らは、イエスを引いて行く途中、いなかから出て来たシモンというクレネ人をつかまえ、この人に十字架を負わせてイエスのうしろから運ばせた。
And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear [it] after Jesus.
27 大ぜいの民衆やイエスのことを嘆き悲しむ女たちの群れが、イエスのあとについて行った。
And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28 しかしイエスは、女たちのほうに向いて、こう言われた。「エルサレムの娘たち。わたしのことで泣いてはいけない。むしろ自分自身と、自分の子どもたちのことのために泣きなさい。
But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 なぜなら人々が、『不妊の女、子を産んだことのない胎、飲ませたことのない乳房は、幸いだ。』と言う日が来るのですから。
For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed [are] the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 そのとき、人々は山に向かって、『われわれの上に倒れかかってくれ。』と言い、丘に向かって、『われわれをおおってくれ。』と言い始めます。
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 彼らが生木にこのようなことをするのなら、枯れ木には、いったい、何が起こるでしょう。」
For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 ほかにもふたりの犯罪人が、イエスとともに死刑にされるために、引かれて行った。
And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 「どくろ」と呼ばれている所に来ると、そこで彼らは、イエスと犯罪人とを十字架につけた。犯罪人のひとりは右に、ひとりは左に。
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 そのとき、イエスはこう言われた。「父よ。彼らをお赦しください。彼らは、何をしているのか自分でわからないのです。」彼らは、くじを引いて、イエスの着物を分けた。
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 民衆はそばに立ってながめていた。指導者たちもあざ笑って言った。「あれは他人を救った。もし、神のキリストで、選ばれた者なら、自分を救ってみろ。」
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided [him], saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 兵士たちもイエスをあざけり、そばに寄って来て、酸いぶどう酒を差し出し、
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 「ユダヤ人の王なら、自分を救え。」と言った。
And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 「これはユダヤ人の王。」と書いた札もイエスの頭上に掲げてあった。
And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 十字架にかけられていた犯罪人のひとりはイエスに悪口を言い、「あなたはキリストではないか。自分と私たちを救え。」と言った。
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 ところが、もうひとりのほうが答えて、彼をたしなめて言った。「おまえは神をも恐れないのか。おまえも同じ刑罰を受けているではないか。
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 われわれは、自分のしたことの報いを受けているのだからあたりまえだ。だがこの方は、悪いことは何もしなかったのだ。」
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 そして言った。「イエスさま。あなたの御国の位にお着きになるときには、私を思い出してください。」
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 イエスは、彼に言われた。「まことに、あなたに告げます。あなたはきょう、わたしとともにパラダイスにいます。」
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 そのときすでに十二時ごろになっていたが、全地が暗くなって、三時まで続いた。
And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 太陽は光を失っていた。また、神殿の幕は真二つに裂けた。
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 イエスは大声で叫んで、言われた。「父よ。わが霊を御手にゆだねます。」こう言って、息を引き取られた。
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47 この出来事を見た百人隊長は、神をほめたたえ、「ほんとうに、この人は正しい方であった。」と言った。
Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 また、この光景を見に集まっていた群衆もみな、こういういろいろの出来事を見たので、胸をたたいて悲しみながら帰った。
And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 しかし、イエスの知人たちと、ガリラヤからイエスについて来ていた女たちとはみな、遠く離れて立ち、これらのことを見ていた。
And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 さてここに、ヨセフという、議員のひとりで、りっぱな、正しい人がいた。
And, behold, [there was] a man named Joseph, a counsellor; [and he was] a good man, and a just:
51 この人は議員たちの計画や行動には同意しなかった。彼は、アリマタヤというユダヤ人の町の人で、神の国を待ち望んでいた。
(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them; ) [he was] of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 この人が、ピラトのところに行って、イエスのからだの下げ渡しを願った。
This [man] went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 それから、イエスを取り降ろして、亜麻布で包み、そして、まだだれをも葬ったことのない、岩に掘られた墓にイエスを納めた。
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 この日は準備の日で、もう安息日が始まろうとしていた。
And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55 ガリラヤからイエスといっしょに出て来た女たちは、ヨセフについて行って、墓と、イエスのからだの納められる様子を見届けた。
And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 そして、戻って来て、香料と香油を用意した。 安息日には、戒めに従って、休んだが、
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
