ルカの福音書 15
1 さて、取税人、罪人たちがみな、イエスの話を聞こうとして、みもとに近寄って来た。
Then drew near to him all the tax collectors and sinners to hear him.
2 すると、パリサイ人、律法学者たちは、つぶやいてこう言った。「この人は、罪人たちを受け入れて、食事までいっしょにする。」
And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
3 そこでイエスは、彼らにこのようなたとえを話された。
And he spoke this parable to them, saying,
4 「あなたがたのうちに羊を百匹持っている人がいて、そのうちの一匹をなくしたら、その人は九十九匹を野原に残して、いなくなった一匹を見つけるまで捜し歩かないでしょうか。
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he loseth one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he findeth it?
5 見つけたら、大喜びでその羊をかついで、
And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 帰って来て、友だちや近所の人たちを呼び集め、『いなくなった羊を見つけましたから、いっしょに喜んでください。』と言うでしょう。
And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7 あなたがたに言いますが、それと同じように、ひとりの罪人が悔い改めるなら、悔い改める必要のない九十九人の正しい人にまさる喜びが天にあるのです。
I say to you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.
8 また、女の人が銀貨を十枚持っていて、もしその一枚をなくしたら、あかりをつけ、家を掃いて、見つけるまで念入りに捜さないでしょうか。
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loseth one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she findeth it?
9 見つけたら、友だちや近所の女たちを呼び集めて、『なくした銀貨を見つけましたから、いっしょに喜んでください。』と言うでしょう。
And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
10 あなたがたに言いますが、それと同じように、ひとりの罪人が悔い改めるなら、神の御使いたちに喜びがわき起こるのです。」
Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
11 またこう話された。 「ある人に息子がふたりあった。
And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 弟が父に、『おとうさん。私に財産の分け前を下さい。』と言った。それで父は、身代をふたりに分けてやった。
And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided to them his living.
13 それから、幾日もたたぬうちに、弟は、何もかもまとめて遠い国に旅立った。そして、そこで放蕩して湯水のように財産を使ってしまった。
And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14 何もかも使い果たしたあとで、その国に大ききんが起こり、彼は食べるにも困り始めた。
And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15 それで、その国のある人のもとに身を寄せたところ、その人は彼を畑にやって、豚の世話をさせた。
And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 彼は豚の食べるいなご豆で腹を満たしたいほどであったが、だれひとり彼に与えようとはしなかった。
And he was longing to fill his belly with the husks that the swine ate: and no man gave to him.
17 しかし、我に返ったとき彼は、こう言った。『父のところには、パンのあり余っている雇い人が大ぜいいるではないか。それなのに、私はここで、飢え死にしそうだ。
And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I am perishing with hunger!
18 立って、父のところに行って、こう言おう。「おとうさん。私は天に対して罪を犯し、またあなたの前に罪を犯しました。
I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 もう私は、あなたの子と呼ばれる資格はありません。雇い人のひとりにしてください。」』
And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 こうして彼は立ち上がって、自分の父のもとに行った。ところが、まだ家までは遠かったのに、父親は彼を見つけ、かわいそうに思い、走り寄って彼を抱き、口づけした。
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 息子は言った。『おとうさん。私は天に対して罪を犯し、またあなたの前に罪を犯しました。もう私は、あなたの子と呼ばれる資格はありません。』
And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 ところが父親は、しもべたちに言った。『急いで一番良い着物を持って来て、この子に着せなさい。それから、手に指輪をはめさせ、足にくつをはかせなさい。
But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 そして肥えた子牛を引いて来てほふりなさい。食べて祝おうではないか。
And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 この息子は、死んでいたのが生き返り、いなくなっていたのが見つかったのだから。』そして彼らは祝宴を始めた。
For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 ところで、兄息子は畑にいたが、帰って来て家に近づくと、音楽や踊りの音が聞こえて来た。それで、
Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
26 しもべのひとりを呼んで、これはいったい何事かと尋ねると、
And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27 しもべは言った。『弟さんがお帰りになったのです。無事な姿をお迎えしたというので、おとうさんが、肥えた子牛をほふらせなさったのです。』
And he said to him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28 すると、兄はおこって、家にはいろうともしなかった。それで、父が出て来て、いろいろなだめてみた。
And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore his father came out, and entreated him.
29 しかし兄は父にこう言った。『ご覧なさい。長年の間、私はおとうさんに仕え、戒めを破ったことは一度もありません。その私には、友だちと楽しめと言って、子山羊一匹下さったことがありません。
And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither have I at any time transgressed thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 それなのに、遊女におぼれてあなたの身代を食いつぶして帰って来たこのあなたの息子のためには、肥えた子牛をほふらせなさったのですか。』
But as soon as this thy son had come, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 父は彼に言った。『おまえはいつも私といっしょにいる。私のものは、全部おまえのものだ。
And he said to him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32 だがおまえの弟は、死んでいたのが生き返って来たのだ。いなくなっていたのが見つかったのだから、楽しんで喜ぶのは当然ではないか。』」
It was right that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
