ヘブル人への手紙 12
1 こういうわけで、このように多くの証人たちが、雲のように私たちを取り巻いているのですから、私たちも、いっさいの重荷とまつわりつく罪とを捨てて、私たちの前に置かれている競走を忍耐をもって走り続けようではありませんか。
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 信仰の創始者であり、完成者であるイエスから目を離さないでいなさい。イエスは、ご自分の前に置かれた喜びのゆえに、はずかしめをものともせずに十字架を忍び、神の御座の右に着座されました。
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 あなたがたは、罪人たちのこのような反抗を忍ばれた方のことを考えなさい。それは、あなたがたの心が元気を失い、疲れ果ててしまわないためです。
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest all of you be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 あなたがたはまだ、罪と戦って、血を流すまで抵抗したことがありません。
All of you have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
5 そして、あなたがたに向かって子どもに対するように語られたこの勧めを忘れています。 「わが子よ。 主の懲らしめを軽んじてはならない。 主に責められて弱り果ててはならない。
And all of you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not you the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of him:
6 主はその愛する者を懲らしめ、 受け入れるすべての子に、 むちを加えられるからである。」
For whom the Lord loves he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives.
7 訓練と思って耐え忍びなさい。神はあなたがたを子として扱っておられるのです。父が懲らしめることをしない子がいるでしょうか。
If all of you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chastens not?
8 もしあなたがたが、だれでも受ける懲らしめを受けていないとすれば、私生子であって、ほんとうの子ではないのです。
But if all of you be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are all of you bastards, and not sons.
9 さらにまた、私たちには肉の父がいて、私たちを懲らしめたのですが、しかも私たちは彼らを敬ったのであれば、なおさらのこと、私たちはすべての霊の父に服従して生きるべきではないでしょうか。
Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, (pneuma) and live?
10 なぜなら、肉の父親は、短い期間、自分が良いと思うままに私たちを懲らしめるのですが、霊の父は、私たちの益のため、私たちをご自分のきよさにあずからせようとして、懲らしめるのです。
For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11 すべての懲らしめは、そのときは喜ばしいものではなく、かえって悲しく思われるものですが、後になると、これによって訓練された人々に平安な義の実を結ばせます。
Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
12 ですから、弱った手と衰えたひざとを、まっすぐにしなさい。
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13 また、あなたがたの足のためには、まっすぐな道を作りなさい。足なえの人も関節をはずすことのないため、いやむしろ、いやされるためです。
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
14 すべての人との平和を追い求め、また、きよめられることを追い求めなさい。きよくなければ、だれも主を見ることができません。
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
15 そのためには、あなたがたはよく監督して、だれも神の恵みから落ちる者がないように、また、苦い根が芽を出して悩ましたり、これによって多くの人が汚されたりすることのないように、
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
16 また、不品行の者や、一杯の食物と引き替えに自分のものであった長子の権利を売ったエサウのような俗悪な者がないようにしなさい。
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.
17 あなたがたが知っているとおり、彼は後になって祝福を相続したいと思ったが、退けられました。涙を流して求めても、彼には心を変えてもらう余地がありませんでした。
For all of you know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
18 あなたがたは、手でさわれる山、燃える火、黒雲、暗やみ、あらし、
For all of you are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
19 ラッパの響き、ことばのとどろきに近づいているのではありません。このとどろきは、これを聞いた者たちが、それ以上一言も加えてもらいたくないと願ったものです。
And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; (rhema) which voice they that heard implored that the word (logos) should not be spoken to them any more:
20 彼らは、「たとい、獣でも、山に触れるものは石で打ち殺されなければならない。」というその命令に耐えることができなかったのです。
(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
21 また、その光景があまり恐ろしかったので、モーセは、「私は恐れて、震える。」と言いました。
And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake: )
22 しかし、あなたがたは、シオンの山、生ける神の都、天にあるエルサレム、無数の御使いたちの大祝会に近づいているのです。
But all of you are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 また、天に登録されている長子たちの教会、万民の審判者である神、全うされた義人たちの霊、
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits (pneuma) of just men made perfect,
24 さらに、新しい契約の仲介者イエス、それに、アベルの血よりもすぐれたことを語る注ぎかけの血に近づいています。
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things that that of Abel.
25 語っておられる方を拒まないように注意しなさい。なぜなら、地上においても、警告を与えた方を拒んだ彼らが処罰を免れることができなかったとすれば、まして天から語っておられる方に背を向ける私たちが、処罰を免れることができないのは当然ではありませんか。
See that all of you refuse not him that speaks. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:
26 あのときは、その声が地を揺り動かしましたが、このたびは約束をもって、こう言われます。「わたしは、もう一度、地だけではなく、天も揺り動かす。」
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he has promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27 この「もう一度」ということばは、決して揺り動かされることのないものが残るために、すべての造られた、揺り動かされるものが取り除かれることを示しています。
And this word, Yet once more, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 こういうわけで、私たちは揺り動かされない御国を受けているのですから、感謝しようではありませんか。こうして私たちは、慎みと恐れとをもって、神に喜ばれるように奉仕をすることができるのです。
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29 私たちの神は焼き尽くす火です。
For our God is a consuming fire.
