エペソ人への手紙 3
1 こういうわけで、あなたがた異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスの囚人となった私パウロが言います。
For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles,
2 あなたがたのためにと私がいただいた、神の恵みによる私の務めについて、あなたがたはすでに聞いたことでしょう。
if it is so that you have heard of the administration of that grace of God which was given me toward you,
3 先に簡単に書いたとおり、この奥義は、啓示によって私に知らされたのです。
how that by revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I wrote before in few words,
4 それを読めば、私がキリストの奥義をどう理解しているかがよくわかるはずです。
by which, when you read, you can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ,
5 この奥義は、今は、御霊によって、キリストの聖なる使徒たちと預言者たちに啓示されていますが、前の時代には、今と同じようには人々に知らされていませんでした。
which in other generations was not made known to the children of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit,
6 その奥義とは、福音により、キリスト・イエスにあって、異邦人もまた共同の相続者となり、ともに一つのからだに連なり、ともに約束にあずかる者となるということです。
that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of his promise in Christ Jesus through the Good News,
7 私は、神の力の働きにより、自分に与えられた神の恵みの賜物によって、この福音に仕える者とされました。
of which I was made a servant according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.
8 すべての聖徒たちのうちで一番小さな私に、この恵みが与えられたのは、私がキリストの測りがたい富を異邦人に宣べ伝え、
To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
and to make all men see what is the administration of the mystery which for ages (aiōn g165) has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ,
10 これは、今、天にある支配と権威とに対して、教会を通して、神の豊かな知恵が示されるためであって、
to the intent that now through the assembly the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places,
according to the purpose of the ages (aiōn g165) which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12 私たちはこのキリストにあり、キリストを信じる信仰によって大胆に確信をもって神に近づくことができるのです。
In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.
13 ですから、私があなたがたのために受けている苦難のゆえに落胆することのないようお願いします。私の受けている苦しみは、そのまま、あなたがたの光栄なのです。
Therefore I ask that you may not lose heart at my troubles for you, which are your glory.
14 こういうわけで、私はひざをかがめて、
For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 天上と地上で家族と呼ばれるすべてのものの名の元である父の前に祈ります。
from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
16 どうか父が、その栄光の豊かさに従い、御霊により、力をもって、あなたがたの内なる人を強くしてくださいますように。
that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,
17 こうしてキリストが、あなたがたの信仰によって、あなたがたの心のうちに住んでいてくださいますように。また、愛に根ざし、愛に基礎を置いているあなたがたが、
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 すべての聖徒とともに、その広さ、長さ、高さ、深さがどれほどであるかを理解する力を持つようになり、
may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth,
19 人知をはるかに越えたキリストの愛を知ることができますように。こうして、神ご自身の満ち満ちたさまにまで、あなたがたが満たされますように。
and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 どうか、私たちのうちに働く力によって、私たちの願うところ、思うところのすべてを越えて豊かに施すことのできる方に、
Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
