ペテロの手紙第二 1
1 イエス・キリストのしもべであり使徒であるシモン・ペテロから、私たちの神であり救い主であるイエス・キリストの義によって私たちと同じ尊い信仰を受けた方々へ。
Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:
2 神と私たちの主イエスを知ることによって、恵みと平安が、あなたがたの上にますます豊かにされますように。
Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
3 というのは、私たちをご自身の栄光と徳によってお召しになった方を私たちが知ったことによって、主イエスの、神としての御力は、いのちと敬虔に関するすべてのことを私たちに与えるからです。
seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue,
4 その栄光と徳によって、尊い、すばらしい約束が私たちに与えられました。それは、あなたがたが、その約束のゆえに、世にある欲のもたらす滅びを免れ、神のご性質にあずかる者となるためです。
by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.
5 こういうわけですから、あなたがたは、あらゆる努力をして、信仰には徳を、徳には知識を、
Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;
6 知識には自制を、自制には忍耐を、忍耐には敬虔を、
and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness;
7 敬虔には兄弟愛を、兄弟愛には愛を加えなさい。
and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.
8 これらがあなたがたに備わり、ますます豊かになるなら、あなたがたは、私たちの主イエス・キリストを知る点で、役に立たない者とか、実を結ばない者になることはありません。
For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 これらを備えていない者は、近視眼であり、盲目であって、自分の以前の罪がきよめられたことを忘れてしまったのです。
For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.
10 ですから、兄弟たちよ。ますます熱心に、あなたがたの召されたことと選ばれたこととを確かなものとしなさい。これらのことを行なっていれば、つまずくことなど決してありません。
Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.
For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
12 ですから、すでにこれらのことを知っており、現に持っている真理に堅く立っているあなたがたであるとはいえ、私はいつもこれらのことを、あなたがたに思い起こさせようとするのです。
Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth.
13 私が地上の幕屋にいる間は、これらのことを思い起こさせることによって、あなたがたを奮い立たせることを、私のなすべきことと思っています。
I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,
14 それは、私たちの主イエス・キリストも、私にはっきりお示しになったとおり、私がこの幕屋を脱ぎ捨てるのが間近に迫っているのを知っているからです。
knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.
15 また、私の去った後に、あなたがたがいつでもこれらのことを思い起こせるよう、私は努めたいのです。
Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.
16 私たちは、あなたがたに、私たちの主イエス・キリストの力と来臨とを知らせましたが、それは、うまく考え出した作り話に従ったのではありません。この私たちは、キリストの威光の目撃者なのです。
For we didn’t follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 キリストが父なる神から誉れと栄光をお受けになったとき、おごそかな、栄光の神から、こういう御声がかかりました。「これはわたしの愛する子、わたしの喜ぶ者である。」
For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
18 私たちは聖なる山で主イエスとともにいたので、天からかかったこの御声を、自分自身で聞いたのです。
We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19 また、私たちは、さらに確かな預言のみことばを持っています。夜明けとなって、明けの明星があなたがたの心の中に上るまでは、暗い所を照らすともしびとして、それに目を留めているとよいのです。
We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts,
20 それには何よりも次のことを知っていなければいけません。すなわち、聖書の預言はみな、人の私的解釈を施してはならない、ということです。
knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.
21 なぜなら、預言は決して人間の意志によってもたらされたのではなく、聖霊に動かされた人たちが、神からのことばを語ったのだからです。
For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
