コリント人への手紙第二 8
1 さて、兄弟たち。私たちは、マケドニヤの諸教会に与えられた神の恵みを、あなたがたに知らせようと思います。
Moreover, brothers, we make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia;
2 苦しみゆえの激しい試練の中にあっても、彼らの満ちあふれる喜びは、その極度の貧しさにもかかわらず、あふれ出て、その惜しみなく施す富となったのです。
how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.
3 私はあかしします。彼らは自ら進んで、力に応じ、いや力以上にささげ、
For according to their power, I testify, yes and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,
4 聖徒たちをささえる交わりの恵みにあずかりたいと、熱心に私たちに願ったのです。
begging us with much entreaty to receive this grace and the fellowship in the service to the saints.
5 そして、私たちの期待以上に、神のみこころに従って、まず自分自身を主にささげ、また、私たちにもゆだねてくれました。
This was not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God.
6 それで私たちは、テトスがすでにこの恵みのわざをあなたがたの間で始めていたのですから、それを完了させるよう彼に勧めたのです。
So we urged Titus, that as he made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace.
7 あなたがたは、すべてのことに、すなわち、信仰にも、ことばにも、知識にも、あらゆる熱心にも、私たちから出てあなたがたの間にある愛にも富んでいるように、この恵みのわざにも富むようになってください。
But as you abound in everything, in faith, utterance, knowledge, all earnestness, and in the love from us that is in you, see that you also abound in this grace.
8 こうは言っても、私は命令するのではありません。ただ、他の人々の熱心さをもって、あなたがた自身の愛の真実を確かめたいのです。
I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.
9 あなたがたは、私たちの主イエス・キリストの恵みを知っています。すなわち、主は富んでおられたのに、あなたがたのために貧しくなられました。それは、あなたがたが、キリストの貧しさによって富む者となるためです。
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.
10 この献金のことについて、私の意見を述べましょう。それはあなたがたの益になることだからです。あなたがたは、このことを昨年から、他に先んじて行なっただけでなく、このことを他に先んじて願った人たちです。
I give a judgment in this: for this is expedient for you, who were the first to start a year ago, not only to do, but also to be willing.
11 ですから、今、それをし遂げなさい。喜んでしようと思ったのですから、持っている物で、それをし遂げることができるはずです。
But now complete the doing also, that as there was the readiness to be willing, so there may be the completion also out of your ability.
12 もし熱意があるならば、持たない物によってではなく、持っている程度に応じて、それは受納されるのです。
For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you do not have.
13 私はこのことによって、他の人々には楽をさせ、あなたがたには苦労をさせようとしているのではなく、平等を図っているのです。
For this is not that others may be eased and you distressed,
14 今あなたがたの余裕が彼らの欠乏を補うなら、彼らの余裕もまた、あなたがたの欠乏を補うことになるのです。こうして、平等になるのです。
but for equality. Your abundance at this present time supplies their lack, that their abundance also may become a supply for your lack; that there may be equality.
15 「多く集めた者も余るところがなく、少し集めた者も足りないところがなかった。」と書いてあるとおりです。
As it is written, "He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack."
16 私があなたがたのことを思うのと同じ熱心を、テトスの心にも与えてくださった神に感謝します。
But thanks be to God, who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.
17 彼は私の勧めを受け入れ、非常な熱意をもって、自分から進んであなたがたのところに行こうとしています。
For he indeed accepted our exhortation, but being himself very earnest, he went out to you of his own accord.
18 また私たちは、テトスといっしょに、ひとりの兄弟を送ります。この人は、福音の働きによって、すべての教会で称賛されていますが、
We have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the Good News is known through all the churches.
19 そればかりでなく、彼は、この恵みのわざに携わっている私たちに同伴するよう諸教会の任命を受けたのです。私たちがこの働きをしているのは、主ご自身の栄光のため、また、私たちの誠意を示すためにほかなりません。
Not only so, but who was also appointed by the churches to travel with us in this grace, which is served by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and to show our readiness.
20 私たちは、この献金の取り扱いについて、だれからも非難されることがないように心がけています。
We are avoiding this, that no one should blame us concerning this abundance which is administered by us.
21 それは、主の御前ばかりでなく、人の前でも公明正大なことを示そうと考えているからです。
For we have regard for what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of others.
22 また、彼らといっしょに、もうひとりの兄弟を送ります。私たちはこの兄弟が多くのことについて熱心であることを、しばしば認めることができました。彼は今、あなたがたに深い信頼を寄せ、ますます熱心になっています。
We have sent with them our brother, whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he has in you.
23 テトスについて言えば、彼は私の仲間で、あなたがたの間での私の同労者です。兄弟たちについて言えば、彼らは諸教会の使者、キリストの栄光です。
As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker for you. As for our brothers, they are apostles of the churches, the glory of Christ.
24 ですから、あなたがたの愛と、私たちがあなたがたを誇りとしている証拠とを、諸教会の前で、彼らに示してほしいのです。
Therefore show the proof of your love to them in front of the churches, and of our boasting about you.
