コリント人への手紙第二 7

1 愛する者たち。私たちはこのような約束を与えられているのですから、いっさいの霊肉の汚れから自分をきよめ、神を恐れかしこんできよきを全うしようではありませんか。

Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2 私たちに対して心を開いてください。私たちは、だれにも不正をしたことがなく、だれをもそこなったことがなく、だれからも利をむさぼったことがありません。

Open your hearts to us. We wronged no one. We corrupted no one. We took advantage of no one.

3 責めるためにこう言うのではありません。前にも言ったように、あなたがたは、私たちとともに死に、ともに生きるために、私たちの心のうちにあるのです。

I say this not to condemn you, for I have said before that you are in our hearts to die together and live together.

4 私のあなたがたに対する信頼は大きいのであって、私はあなたがたを大いに誇りとしています。私は慰めに満たされ、どんな苦しみの中にあっても喜びに満ちあふれています。

Great is my boldness of speech toward you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in all our affliction.

5 マケドニヤに着いたとき、私たちの身には少しの安らぎもなく、さまざまの苦しみに会って、外には戦い、うちには恐れがありました。

For even when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side. Fightings were outside. Fear was inside.

6 しかし、気落ちした者を慰めてくださる神は、テトスが来たことによって、私たちを慰めてくださいました。

Nevertheless, he who comforts the lowly, God, comforted us by the coming of Titus,

7 ただテトスが来たことばかりでなく、彼があなたがたから受けた慰めによっても、私たちは慰められたのです。あなたがたが私を慕っていること、嘆き悲しんでいること、また私に対して熱意を持っていてくれることを知らされて、私はますます喜びにあふれました。

and not by his coming only, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you while he told us of your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more.

8 あの手紙によってあなたがたを悲しませたけれども、私はそれを悔いていません。あの手紙がしばらくの間であったにしろあなたがたを悲しませたのを見て、悔いたけれども、

For though I grieved you with my letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it. For I see that my letter made you grieve, though just for a while.

9 今は喜んでいます。あなたがたが悲しんだからではなく、あなたがたが悲しんで悔い改めたからです。あなたがたは神のみこころに添って悲しんだので、私たちのために何の害も受けなかったのです。

I now rejoice, not that you were grieved, but that you were grieved to repentance. For you were grieved in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing.

10 神のみこころに添った悲しみは、悔いのない、救いに至る悔い改めを生じさせますが、世の悲しみは死をもたらします。

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death.

11 ご覧なさい。神のみこころに添ったその悲しみが、あなたがたのうちに、どれほどの熱心を起こさせたことでしょう。また、弁明、憤り、恐れ、慕う心、熱意を起こさせ、処罰を断行させたことでしょう。あの問題について、あなたがたは、自分たちがすべての点で潔白であることを証明したのです。

For behold, this same thing, that you were grieved in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vindication! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.

12 ですから、私はあなたがたに手紙を書きましたが、それは悪を行なった人のためでもなく、その被害者のためでもなくて、私たちに対するあなたがたの熱心が、神の御前に明らかにされるためであったのです。

So although I wrote to you, I wrote not for his cause that did the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be revealed in you in the sight of God.

13 こういうわけですから、私たちは慰めを受けました。 この慰めの上にテトスの喜びが加わって、私たちはなおいっそう喜びました。テトスの心が、あなたがたすべてによって安らぎを与えられたからです。

Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.

14 私はテトスに、あなたがたのことを少しばかり誇りましたが、そのことで恥をかかずに済みました。というのは、私たちがあなたがたに語ったことがすべて真実であったように、テトスに対して誇ったことも真実となったからです。

For if in anything I have boasted to him on your behalf, I was not disappointed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth.

15 彼は、あなたがたがみなよく言うことを聞き、恐れおののいて、自分を迎えてくれたことを思い出して、あなたがたへの愛情をますます深めています。

His affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembers all of your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him.

16 私は、あなたがたに全幅の信頼を寄せることができるのを喜んでいます。

I rejoice that in everything I am confident concerning you.
