コリント人への手紙第二 13
1 私があなたがたのところへ行くのは、これで三度目です。すべての事実は、ふたりか三人の証人の口によって確認されるのです。
This is the third time I am coming to you. “At the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.”
2 私は二度目の滞在のときに前もって言っておいたのですが、こうして離れている今も、前から罪を犯している人たちとほかのすべての人たちに、あらかじめ言っておきます。今度そちらに行ったときには、容赦はしません。
I have warned previously, and I warn again, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, I write to those who have sinned before now and to all the rest that if I come again, I will not spare,
3 こう言うのは、あなたがたはキリストが私によって語っておられるという証拠を求めているからです。キリストはあなたがたに対して弱くはなく、あなたがたの間にあって強い方です。
seeing that you seek a proof of Christ who speaks in me who is not weak, but is powerful in you.
4 確かに、弱さのゆえに十字架につけられましたが、神の力のゆえに生きておられます。私たちもキリストにあって弱い者ですが、あなたがたに対する神の力のゆえに、キリストとともに生きているのです。
For he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives through the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we will live with him through the power of God toward you.
5 あなたがたは、信仰に立っているかどうか、自分自身をためし、また吟味しなさい。それとも、あなたがたのうちにはイエス・キリストがおられることを、自分で認めないのですか。――あなたがたがそれに不適格であれば別です。――
Examine your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know about your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
6 しかし、私たちは不適格でないことを、あなたがたが悟るように私は望んでいます。
But I hope that you will know that we aren’t disqualified.
7 私たちは、あなたがたがどんな悪をも行なわないように神に祈っています。それによって、私たち自身の適格であることが明らかになるというのではなく、たとい私たちは不適格のように見えても、あなたがたに正しい行ないをしてもらいたいためです。
Now I pray to God that you do no evil; not that we may appear approved, but that you may do that which is honorable, though we may seem to have failed.
8 私たちは、真理に逆らっては何をすることもできず、真理のためなら、何でもできるのです。
For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
9 私たちは、自分は弱くてもあなたがたが強ければ、喜ぶのです。私たちはあなたがたが完全な者になることを祈っています。
For we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong. We also pray for this: your becoming perfect.
10 そういうわけで、離れていてこれらのことを書いているのは、私が行ったとき、主が私に授けてくださった権威を用いて、きびしい処置をとることのないようにするためです。この権威が与えられたのは築き上げるためであって、倒すためではないのです。
For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not deal sharply when present, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.
11 終わりに、兄弟たち。喜びなさい。完全な者になりなさい。慰めを受けなさい。一つ心になりなさい。平和を保ちなさい。そうすれば、愛と平和の神はあなたがたとともにいてくださいます。
Finally, brothers, rejoice! Be perfected. Be comforted. Be of the same mind. Live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
12 きよい口づけをもって、互いにあいさつをかわしなさい。
Greet one another with a holy kiss.
13 すべての聖徒たちが、あなたがたによろしくと言っています。
All the saints greet you.
14 主イエス・キリストの恵み、神の愛、聖霊の交わりが、あなたがたすべてとともにありますように。
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s love, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
