ペテロの手紙第一 5
1 そこで、私は、あなたがたのうちの長老たちに、同じく長老のひとり、キリストの苦難の証人、また、やがて現われる栄光にあずかる者として、お勧めします。
The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 あなたがたのうちにいる、神の羊の群れを、牧しなさい。強制されてするのではなく、神に従って、自分から進んでそれをなし、卑しい利得を求める心からではなく、心を込めてそれをしなさい。
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy illegal gain, but of a ready mind;
3 あなたがたは、その割り当てられている人たちを支配するのではなく、むしろ群れの模範となりなさい。
Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4 そうすれば、大牧者が現われるときに、あなたがたは、しぼむことのない栄光の冠を受けるのです。
And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, all of you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.
5 同じように、若い人たちよ。長老たちに従いなさい。みな互いに謙遜を身に着けなさい。神は高ぶる者に敵対し、へりくだる者に恵みを与えられるからです。
Likewise, all of you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.
6 ですから、あなたがたは、神の力強い御手の下にへりくだりなさい。神が、ちょうど良い時に、あなたがたを高くしてくださるためです。
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 あなたがたの思い煩いを、いっさい神にゆだねなさい。神があなたがたのことを心配してくださるからです。
Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.
8 身を慎み、目をさましていなさい。あなたがたの敵である悪魔が、ほえたけるししのように、食い尽くすべきものを捜し求めながら、歩き回っています。
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 堅く信仰に立って、この悪魔に立ち向かいなさい。ご承知のように、世にあるあなたがたの兄弟である人々は同じ苦しみを通って来たのです。
Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 あらゆる恵みに満ちた神、すなわち、あなたがたをキリストにあってその永遠の栄光の中に招き入れてくださった神ご自身が、あなたがたをしばらくの苦しみのあとで完全にし、堅く立たせ、強くし、不動の者としてくださいます。 (aiōnios g166)
But the God of all grace, who has called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that all of you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. (aiōnios g166)
To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 私の認めている忠実な兄弟シルワノによって、私はここに簡潔に書き送り、勧めをし、これが神の真の恵みであることをあかししました。この恵みの中に、しっかりと立っていなさい。
By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein all of you stand.
13 バビロンにいる、あなたがたとともに選ばれた婦人がよろしくと言っています。また私の子マルコもよろしくと言っています。
The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, salutes you; and so does Marcus my son.
14 愛の口づけをもって互いにあいさつをかわしなさい。 キリストにあるあなたがたすべての者に、平安がありますように。
Greet all of you one another with a kiss of love. (agape) Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
