ヨハネの手紙第一 5
1 イエスがキリストであると信じる者はだれでも、神によって生まれたのです。生んでくださった方を愛する者はだれでも、その方によって生まれた者をも愛します。
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him.
2 私たちが神を愛してその命令を守るなら、そのことによって、私たちが神の子どもたちを愛していることがわかります。
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.
3 神を愛するとは、神の命令を守ることです。その命令は重荷とはなりません。
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.
4 なぜなら、神によって生まれた者はみな、世に勝つからです。私たちの信仰、これこそ、世に打ち勝った勝利です。
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
5 世に勝つ者とはだれでしょう。イエスを神の御子と信じる者ではありませんか。
Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 このイエス・キリストは、水と血とによって来られた方です。ただ水によってだけでなく、水と血とによって来られたのです。そして、あかしをする方は御霊です。御霊は真理だからです。
This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
7 あかしするものが三つあります。
For there are three who testify:
8 御霊と水と血です。この三つが一つとなるのです。
the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.
9 もし、私たちが人間のあかしを受け入れるなら、神のあかしはそれにまさるものです。御子についてあかしされたことが神のあかしだからです。
If we accept human testimony, the witness of God is greater; for this is God's testimony that he has testified concerning his Son.
10 神の御子を信じる者は、このあかしを自分の心の中に持っています。神を信じない者は、神を偽り者とするのです。神が御子についてあかしされたことを信じないからです。
He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.
The testimony is this, that God gave to us everlasting life, and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
12 御子を持つ者はいのちを持っており、神の御子を持たない者はいのちを持っていません。
He who has the Son has the life. He who does not have God's Son does not have the life.
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
14 何事でも神のみこころにかなう願いをするなら、神はその願いを聞いてくださるということ、これこそ神に対する私たちの確信です。
This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
15 私たちの願う事を神が聞いてくださると知れば、神に願ったその事は、すでにかなえられたと知るのです。
And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
16 だれでも兄弟が死に至らない罪を犯しているのを見たなら、神に求めなさい。そうすれば神はその人のために、死に至らない罪を犯している人々に、いのちをお与えになります。死に至る罪があります。この罪については、願うようにとは言いません。
If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he should ask, and he will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death. I do not say that he should make a request concerning this.
17 不正はみな罪ですが、死に至らない罪があります。
All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.
18 神によって生まれた者はだれも罪の中に生きないことを、私たちは知っています。神から生まれた方が彼を守っていてくださるので、悪い者は彼に触れることができないのです。
We know that whoever is born of God does not sin, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.
19 私たちは神からの者であり、全世界は悪い者の支配下にあることを知っています。
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
20 しかし、神の御子が来て、真実な方を知る理解力を私たちに与えてくださったことを知っています。それで私たちは、真実な方のうちに、すなわち御子イエス・キリストのうちにいるのです。この方こそ、まことの神、永遠のいのちです。 (aiōnios g166)
We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
21 子どもたちよ。偶像を警戒しなさい。
Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
