コリント人への手紙第一 12

1 さて、兄弟たち。御霊の賜物についてですが、私はあなたがたに、ぜひ次のことを知っていていただきたいのです。

Now concerning spiritual things, brothers, I don’t want you to be ignorant.

2 ご承知のように、あなたがたが異教徒であったときには、どう導かれたとしても、引かれて行った所は、ものを言わない偶像の所でした。

You know that when you were heathen, you were led away to those mute idols, however you might be led.

3 ですから、私は、あなたがたに次のことを教えておきます。神の御霊によって語る者はだれも、「イエスはのろわれよ。」と言わず、また、聖霊によるのでなければ、だれも、「イエスは主です。」と言うことはできません。

Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God’s Spirit says, “Jesus is accursed.” No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” but by the Holy Spirit.

4 さて、御霊の賜物にはいろいろの種類がありますが、御霊は同じ御霊です。

Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 奉仕にはいろいろの種類がありますが、主は同じ主です。

There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord.

6 働きにはいろいろの種類がありますが、神はすべての人の中ですべての働きをなさる同じ神です。

There are various kinds of workings, but the same God who works all things in all.

7 しかし、みなの益となるために、おのおのに御霊の現われが与えられているのです。

But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.

8 ある人には御霊によって知恵のことばが与えられ、ほかの人には同じ御霊にかなう知識のことばが与えられ、

For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit,

9 またある人には同じ御霊による信仰が与えられ、ある人には同一の御霊によって、いやしの賜物が与えられ、

to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,

10 ある人には奇蹟を行なう力、ある人には預言、ある人には霊を見分ける力、ある人には異言、ある人には異言を解き明かす力が与えられています。

and to another workings of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of languages, and to another the interpretation of languages.

11 しかし、同一の御霊がこれらすべてのことをなさるのであって、みこころのままに、おのおのにそれぞれの賜物を分け与えてくださるのです。

But the one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.

12 ですから、ちょうど、からだが一つでも、それに多くの部分があり、からだの部分はたとい多くあっても、その全部が一つのからだであるように、キリストもそれと同様です。

For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.

13 なぜなら、私たちはみな、ユダヤ人もギリシヤ人も、奴隷も自由人も、一つのからだとなるように、一つの御霊によってバプテスマを受け、そしてすべての者が一つの御霊を飲む者とされたからです。

For in one Spirit we were all baptised into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit.

14 確かに、からだはただ一つの器官ではなく、多くの器官から成っています。

For the body is not one member, but many.

15 たとい、足が、「私は手ではないから、からだに属さない。」と言ったところで、そんなことでからだに属さなくなるわけではありません。

If the foot would say, “Because I’m not the hand, I’m not part of the body,” it is not therefore not part of the body.

16 たとい、耳が、「私は目ではないから、からだに属さない。」と言ったところで、そんなことでからだに属さなくなるわけではありません。

If the ear would say, “Because I’m not the eye, I’m not part of the body,” it’s not therefore not part of the body.

17 もし、からだ全体が目であったら、どこで聞くのでしょう。もし、からだ全体が聞くところであったら、どこでかぐのでしょう。

If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be?

18 しかしこのとおり、神はみこころに従って、からだの中にそれぞれの器官を備えてくださったのです。

But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired.

19 もし、全部がただ一つの器官であったら、からだはいったいどこにあるのでしょう。

If they were all one member, where would the body be?

20 しかしこういうわけで、器官は多くありますが、からだは一つなのです。

But now they are many members, but one body.

21 そこで、目が手に向かって、「私はあなたを必要としない。」と言うことはできないし、頭が足に向かって、「私はあなたを必要としない。」と言うこともできません。

The eye can’t tell the hand, “I have no need for you,” or again the head to the feet, “I have no need for you.”

22 それどころか、からだの中で比較的に弱いと見られる器官が、かえってなくてはならないものなのです。

No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.

23 また、私たちは、からだの中で比較的に尊くないとみなす器官を、ことさらに尊びます。こうして、私たちの見ばえのしない器官は、ことさらに良いかっこうになりますが、

Those parts of the body which we think to be less honourable, on those we bestow more abundant honour; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant modesty,

24 かっこうの良い器官にはその必要がありません。しかし神は、劣ったところをことさらに尊んで、からだをこのように調和させてくださったのです。

while our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honour to the inferior part,

25 それは、からだの中に分裂がなく、各部分が互いにいたわり合うためです。

that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.

26 もし一つの部分が苦しめば、すべての部分がともに苦しみ、もし一つの部分が尊ばれれば、すべての部分がともに喜ぶのです。

When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. When one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

27 あなたがたはキリストのからだであって、ひとりひとりは各器官なのです。

Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

28 そして、神は教会の中で人々を次のように任命されました。すなわち、第一に使徒、次に預言者、次に教師、それから奇蹟を行なう者、それからいやしの賜物を持つ者、助ける者、治める者、異言を語る者などです。

God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.

29 みなが使徒でしょうか。みなが預言者でしょうか。みなが教師でしょうか。みなが奇蹟を行なう者でしょうか。

Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?

30 みながいやしの賜物を持っているでしょうか。みなが異言を語るでしょうか。みなが解き明かしをするでしょうか。

Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret?

31 あなたがたは、よりすぐれた賜物を熱心に求めなさい。 また私は、さらにまさる道を示してあげましょう。

But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.
