< ローマ人への手紙 5 >

1 第三款 キリストによる義の充満せる事 然れば我等は信仰に由りて義とせられ、我主イエズス、キリストを以て神と和睦したるなり。
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 又彼を以て、信仰によりて今立てる所の恩寵に至る事を得て、神の(子等の)光榮の希望を以て誇と為す。
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 加之我等は又患難に在る事を誇とす、其は患難は忍耐を生じ、
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 忍耐は練達を生じ、練達は希望を生ずるを知ればなり。
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 抑希望は恥を來さず、蓋我等に賜りたる聖霊を以て、神の愛は我等の心に注がれたるなり。
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 即我等が尚弱かりしに、キリストが時至りて不敬者の為に死し給ひしは何ぞや。
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 夫義人の為に死する者は稀なり、誰か敢て善人の為に死なんや。
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 然るに神が我等に對して其愛を著しく顕し給ふは、我等が尚罪人たりしに時至りて
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 キリスト我等の為に死し給ひしを以てなり。然れば今や我等は其御血を以て義とせられたれば、尚彼に由りて怒より救はるべきなり。
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 蓋我等は敵なりしを御子の死によりて神と和睦したる者なれば、况や和睦したる後は彼の生命に由りて救はるべきをや。
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 加之、我等は又今和睦を得させ給ひし我主イエズス、キリストに由りて、神を以て誇と為す。
And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
12 第四款 キリストとアダンとの比較 然れば一人に由りて罪此世に入り、又罪に由りて死の入りし如く、人皆罪を犯したるが故に死総ての上に及べるなり。
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 蓋律法の出づる迄は、罪は世に在りしかど、律法なきを以て罪とせざれざりき。
( For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 然りながら、アダンよりモイゼに至る迄、アダンの犯罪の如き罪を犯さざりし人々にも死は王たりき。抑アダンは将來のアダンの前表なり。
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 然れど罪と賜とは均しからず、即ち一人の罪に因りて死したる者は多けれども、神の恩寵と一人のイエズス、キリストの恵とに由れる賜は、况て多くの人に溢れたるなり。
But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 又賜と一の罪の結果とは均しからず、即ち審判は一の罪よりして、有罪の宣告に至りしに、賜は多くの罪より義とするに至れるなり。
And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 蓋一人の罪の為に、死は其一人よりして王となりたれば、况て溢るる程の恩寵と義の賜とを蒙る人々は、一人のイエズス、キリストに由りて、生命に於て王となるべし。
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 然れば一人の犯罪を以て一切の人間まで有罪の宣告を受くるに至りし如く、一切の人間は一人の義を以て義とせられ生命を得るに至れるなり。
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 蓋一人の不從順に由りて多くの人が罪人とせられし如く、亦一人の從順に由りて多くの人は義人とせらるべし。
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 律法入來りて罪増ししかど、罪の増しし處には恩寵彌増せり。
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 是罪が死を以て王となりし如く、恩寵も亦我主イエズス、キリストに由りて義を以て王となり、永遠の生命に至らしめん為なり。 (aiōnios g166)
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. (aiōnios g166)
