ヨハネの黙示録 12
1 第一款 婦人及び龍 又天に大いなる徴現れたり、即ち日を着たる一個の婦人あり、其足の下に月ありて、頭には十二の星の冠あり。
Then a great portent was seen in the heavens — a woman whose robe was the sun, and who had the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
2 子を姙して陣痛に遇ひ、将に産まんとして叫び居れり。
She was with child; and ‘she is crying out in the pain and agony of childbirth.’
3 又天に他の徴顕れたり、看よ大いなる赤き龍ありて、七の頭、十の角あり、其頭には七の冠あり、
Another portent also was seen in the heavens There was a great red Dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems.
4 尾は天の星の三分の一を引き居りしが、之を地に擲ち、子を産まんとする婦人の前に立ちて、生れなば其子を食はんと構へたり。
His tail draws after it a third of the stars in the heavens, and it hurled them down on the earth. The Dragon is standing in front of the woman who is about to give birth to the child, so that he may devour it as soon as it is born.
5 婦人は萬民を鉄の杖もて治むべき一人の男子を生みしに、其子は神の御許に其玉座へ引上げられたり。
The woman gave birth to a son, a male child, who is destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod; and her child was at once caught up to God upon his throne.
6 婦人は荒野に迯れしが、此處に一千二百六十日の間養はるる様、神より備へられたる處ありき。
But the woman fled into the wilderness, where there is a place prepared for her by God, to be tended there for twelve hundred and sixty days.
7 斯て天に於て大いなる戰起れり、ミカエル及び其使等、龍と戰ひ、龍も其使等も戰ひ居りしが、
Then a battle took place in the heavens. Michael and his angels fought with the Dragon. But though the Dragon, with his angels, fought,
8 龍勝を得ずして天に其跡すらも遺らざりき。 海の砂の上に立てり。
he did not prevail; and there was no place left for them any longer in the heavens.
9 而して彼大いなる龍、全世界を惑はせる蛇、所謂惡魔又はサタンなるもの投下されたり、彼地に投下されしかば、其使等も共に投下されたり。
Then the great Dragon, the primeval Serpent, known as the ‘Devil’ and ‘Satan,’ who deceives all the world, was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.
10 我又大いなる聲の天に於て斯く言へるを聞けり、我等の神の救と、力と、國と、又其キリストの権能とは、今ぞ至れる、其は我等の兄弟等を訴へて、我等の神の御前に日夜彼等を訴へ居たりしもの、投下されたればなり。
And I heard a loud voice in Heaven which said — ‘Now has begun the day of the Salvation, and Power, and Dominion of our God, and the Rule of his Christ; for the Accuser of our Brothers has been hurled down, he who has been accusing them before our God day and night.
11 而して兄弟等は羔の御血により、又己が證明の言によりて之に勝ち、死に至るまで己が生命を惜まざりき。
Their victory was due to the Blood of the Lamb, and to the Message to which they bore their testimony. In their love of life they shrank not from death.
12 是故に喜べや、天及び天に住へるものよ、禍なる哉地よ海よ、其は惡魔己が時の唯暫時なるを知りて、大いなる怒を啣みつつ汝等に下りたればなり、と。
Therefore, be glad, O Heaven, and all who live in Heaven! Alas for the earth and for the sea, for the Devil has gone down to you in great fury, knowing that he has but little time.’
13 斯て龍は己が地に投下されたるを見て、男子を生みし婦人に追迫りしが、
when the Dragon saw that he was hurled down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
14 婦人は荒野に飛ばん為に大いなる鷲の翼を授けられしかば、己が處に至り、一年と數年と半年との間、龍の面前を離れて此處に養はれたり。
But to the woman were given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she might fly to her place in the wilderness, where she is being tended for ‘one year, and for two years, and for half a year’ in safety from the Serpent.
15 然るに龍は其口より水を出して、婦人の後より吹懸くる事河の如く、之を河に流さしめんとしたりしも、
Then the Serpent poured water from its mouth after the woman, like a river, so that it might sweep her away.
16 地は婦人を助け、口を開きて龍の口より吹出したる水を呑盡り。
But Earth came to her help, and opened her mouth and drank up the river which the Dragon had poured out of its mouth.
17 龍は婦人を怒りて、其子孫の中神の掟を守り且イエズス、キリストの證を有する人々と戰はんとて、往きて、
The Dragon was enraged at the woman, and went to fight with the rest of her offspring — those who lay to heart the commands of God and bear their testimony to Jesus; and he took his stand on the sea-shore.
