ヨハネの福音書 4
1 第三款 イエズスサマリアを過り給ふ 時にイエズス、己が弟子を造り人を洗する事、ヨハネよりも多き由の、ファリザイ人の耳に入りしを知り給ひしかば、
When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 ――但洗せるはイエズスに非ずして、其の弟子等なりき――
( Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples, )
3 ユデアを去りて再びガリレアに往き給へり。
He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4 然るにサマリアを通らざるを得ざりしければ、
And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 ヤコブが其子ヨゼフに與へし土地に近き、サマリアのシカルと云へる町に至り給ひしが、
Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 此處にヤコブの井ありけるに、イエズス旅に疲れて、其儘井の上に坐し給へり、時は十二時頃なりき。
Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 爰にサマリアの一人の婦、水汲みに來りしかば、イエズス之に向ひて、我に飲ませよ、と曰へり。
There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 是弟子等は食物を買はんとて町に往きたればなり。
( For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 其時サマリアの婦云ひけるは、汝はユデア人なるに、何ぞサマリアの婦なる我に飲物を求むるや、と。是ユデア人はサマリア人と交らざる故なり。
Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 イエズス答へて曰ひけるは、汝若神の賜を知り、又我に飲ませよと汝に云へる者の誰なるかを知らば、必ず彼に求め、彼は活ける水を汝に與へしならん。
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 婦云ひけるは、君よ、汝は汲む物を有たず、井は深し、然るを何處よりして活ける水を有てるぞ。
The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 我等が父ヤコブ此井を我等に與へ、自らも其子等も其家畜も之より飲みしが、汝は彼より優れる者なるか。
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 イエズス答へて曰ひけるは、総て此水を飲む者は復渇くべし、
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
15 婦云ひけるは、君よ、我が渇く事なく此處に汲みにも來らざる様、其水を我に與へよ。
The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 イエズス曰ひけるは、往きて夫を呼來れ。
Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 婦答へて、我は夫なし、と云ひしかば、イエズス曰ひけるは、善くこそ夫なしと云ひたれ、
The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 夫は五人まで有ちたりしに、今あるは汝の夫に非ず、汝が然云ひしは實なり。
For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 婦云ひけるは、君よ、我観るに、汝は預言者なり。
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 我等が先祖は此山にて禮拝したるに、汝等は云ふ、禮拝すべき處はエルザレムなりと。
Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 イエズス曰ひけるは、婦よ、我を信ぜよ、汝等が此山となくエルザレムとなく、父を禮拝せん時來るなり。
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 汝等は知らざる者を禮拝し、我等は知りたる者を禮拝す、救はユデア人の中より出づればなり。
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 然て眞の禮拝者が、霊と實とを以て父を禮拝すべき時來る、今既に其時なり。其は父も、斯く己を禮拝する人を求め給へばなり。
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 神は霊にて在せば、之を禮拝する人は、霊と實とを以て禮拝せざるべからず、と。
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 婦イエズスに謂ひけるは、我はメッシア（所謂キリスト）の來るを知る。然れば彼來らば萬事を我等に告ぐべし。
The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 イエズス之に曰ひけるは、汝と語りつつある我、即ち其なり、と。
Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 軈て弟子等來り、イエズスの婦と語り給へるを怪しみしかど、誰も何をか求め何故彼と語り給ふ、と云ふ者なかりき。
And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 斯て婦、其水瓶を遺して町に往き、其處なる人々に向ひ、
The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 來て見よ、我が為しし事を殘らず我に云ひたる人を、是はキリストならんか、と云ひしかば、
Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 彼等町より出でてイエズスの許に來れり。
Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 其隙に弟子等イエズスに請ひて、ラビ食し給へ、と云ひしに、
In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 曰ひけるは、我には汝等の知らざる食物の食すべきあり、と。
But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 弟子等、誰か食物を持來りしぞ、と云ひ合へるを、
Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 イエズス曰ひけるは、我が食物は、我を遣はし給ひし者の御旨を行ひて其業を全うする事是なり。
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 汝等は、尚四箇月の間あり、其後収穫の時來る、と云ふに非ずや。我汝等に告ぐ、目を翹げて田畑を見よ、最早穫取るべく白みたり。
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
37 諺に一人は撒き一人は穫ると云へる事、是に於て乎實なり。
And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 我汝等を遣はして、勞作せざりし物を穫らしめたり。即ち他の人前に勞作して、其勞作したる所を、汝等が承継ぎたるなり、と。
I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 然て彼町にては、彼人我が為しし事を殘らず我に告げたり、と證したる婦の言によりて、多くのサマリア人イエズスを信ぜしかば、
And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 人々御許に來りて、此處に留り給はんことを請へり、然れば此處に留り給ふ事二日にして、
So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 尚多くの人御言によりて之を信仰せり。
And many more believed because of his own word;
42 斯て彼婦に向ひ、我等は最早汝の語る所によりて信ずる者に非ず、即ち自ら彼に聴きて、其眞に救世主たる事を知れり、と云ひ居たり。
And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 第四款 イエズスガリレアに至り給ふ 然るに二日の後、イエズス其處を出でてガリレアに往き給へり。
Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44 預言者其本國に尊ばれず、と自ら證し給ひしが、
For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45 ガリレアに至り給ひしに、ガリレア人は、曾て祭日にエルザレムにて行ひ給ひし一切の事を見たりければ、イエズスを歓迎せり、其は彼等も祭日に往きてありしなり。
Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46 斯てイエズス再び、嚮に水を酒に化し給ひしガリレアのカナに至り給ひしに、一人の王官あり、其子カファルナウムにて病み居ければ、
So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 イエズスユデアよりガリレアに來給ふと聞きて、御許に至り、下りて己が子を醫し給はん事を切に願ひ居たり、彼将に死なんとすればなり。
When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48 イエズス之に曰ひけるは、汝等は徴と奇蹟とを見ざれば信ぜず、と。
Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 官人イエズスに向ひて、主よ、我子の死なざる前に下り來給へ、と云ひしに、
The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 イエズス、往け、汝の子活く、と曰ひしかば、此人イエズスの己に曰ひし御言を信じて往きたり。
Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 然て下る途に、僕等行逢ひて、其子の活きたる由を告げければ、
And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 其回復せし時刻を問ひしに、彼等、昨日の午後一時に熱去れり、と云ふにぞ、
Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 父は恰もイエズスが汝の子活くと己に曰ひしと同時なりしを知り、其身も一家も挙りて信仰せり。
So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 此第二の奇蹟は、イエズスユデアよりガリレアに至り給ひし時に行ひ給ひしなり。
This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.
