ガラテヤ人への手紙 3

1 第一項 律法にて詛はれ、信仰にて祝福を得。 愚かなる哉ガラチア人よ、十字架に釘けられ給ひしイエズス、キリスト、汝等の目前に書かれ給ひたるに、誰か汝等を蕩して眞理に背かしめしぞ、

O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, that all of you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

2 我は唯此事を聞かんと欲す、汝等が聖霊を蒙りしは律法の業によるか、信仰に從ひしによるか。

This only would I learn of you, Received all of you the Spirit (pneuma) by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 汝等聖霊を以て始りしものを、今は肉を以て終る迄に愚なるか。

Are all of you so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, (pneuma) are all of you now made perfect by the flesh?

4 夥しく苦しみしは無益とならんか、否無益に非ざれかし。

Have all of you suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

5 然れば汝等に[聖]霊を賜ひて、汝等の中に奇蹟を行ひ給へる者の斯く為し給ふは律法の業によるか、信仰に從ひしによるか、

He therefore that ministers to you the Spirit, (pneuma) and works miracles among you, does he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

6 録して、「アブラハム神を信ぜり、而して此事義として之に歸せられたり」とあるが如し。

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

7 故に信仰に由る人々は、是アブラハムの子等なりと知れ。

Know all of you therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

8 斯て聖書は、神が信仰に由りて異邦人を義とし給ふ事を豫め知りて、曾てアブラハムに福音を告げて曰く、「萬民汝に於て祝せられん」と。

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In you shall all nations be blessed.

9 然れば信仰に由る人々は、忠實なるアブラハムと共に祝せらるべきなり。

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

10 凡律法の業に由る人々は詛の下に在り、其は録して、「総て律法の書に録されたる事を悉く守らんとして、之に止らざる人は詛はるべし」、とあればなり。

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11 抑人が律法によりて神の御前に義とせられざる事は、「義人は信仰によりて活く」、とあるを以て明なり。

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12 律法は信仰によるに非ずして、「掟を行ふ人は之によりて活きん」、とあり。

And the law is not of faith: but, The man that does them shall live in them.

13 録して、「総て木に吊さるる人は詛はれたるなり」、とあれば、キリストは我等の為に詛はれたる者となりて、律法の詛より我等を贖ひ給ひしなり。

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:

14 是アブラハムの祝福がキリスト、イエズスによりて異邦人に及ぼされ、約束せられ給ひし聖霊を信仰によりて我等が受けん為なり。

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit (pneuma) through faith.

15 第二項 律法の下に在りては未丁年者なるに、信仰及びキリスト教の下に在りては、丁年者となる 兄弟等よ、我人の言ふが如くに言へば、人の公正なる遺書は廃する人なく書加ふる人なし。

Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man nullifies, or adds thereto.

16 アブラハムと其裔とに約束せられし時、多くの人を斥すが如く裔[等]とは曰はずして、一人を斥して汝の裔と曰へり、これ即ちキリストなり。

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He says not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to your seed, which is Christ.

17 然て我は言はん、神の既に固め給ひし契約をば、其より四百三十年の後に與へられし律法が、約束を空しからしめんとて廃したるに非ず。

And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot nullify, that it should make the promise of no effect.

18 蓋世継若律法に由らば、是既に約束に由らざるなり。然れど神は約束を以て、之をアブラハムに賜ひたるなり。

For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

19 然らば律法は何ぞや、是約束せられし裔の來る迄の間、犯則の為に置かれしものにして、仲裁者の手を経て天使等によりて布告せられたるものなり。

Wherefore then serves the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

20 然て仲裁者は一方のものに非ざるに、神は唯一にて在す。

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

21 然れば律法は神の約束に反するか、否々、蓋若人を能く活かすべき律法を與へられたらんには、義は實に律法により出づべし

Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

22 と雖も、聖書は萬物を罪の下に閉籠たり。是約束はイエズス、キリストに於る信仰に由りて、信ずる人に與へられん為なり。

But the scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23 信仰の來る前には、我等は律法の下に閉籠められて、顕れんとする信仰の來るまで衛られつつありき。

But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 然れば我等が信仰に由りて義とせられん為に、律法は我等をキリストに導く指導者となれり。

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 然れど信仰既に來りては、我等は最早指導者の下に在らず、

But after that faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 其は汝等、キリスト、イエズスに於る信仰に由りて、皆神の子等なればなり。

For all of you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 即ちキリストに由りて洗せられたる汝等は、悉くキリストを着せるなり。

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 斯てユデア人もなくギリシア人もなく、奴隷も自由の身もなく、男も女もなし、其は汝等キリスト、イエズスに於て皆一人なればなり。

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for all of you are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 汝等若キリストのものならば、是アブラハムの裔なり、約束の儘なる世嗣なり。

And if all of you be Christ's, then are all of you Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
