使徒の働き 8
1 第五 烈しき迫害起る 其日エルザレムの教會に對して大いなる迫害起り、使徒等の外は皆ユデア及びサマリアの各地方に離散せしが、
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the Assembly which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 敬虔なる人々ステファノを葬り、彼の為に大いなる弔を為せり。
And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 然てサウロは教會を荒らし、家々に入りて男女を引出し、之を付して拘留せしめつつありしが、
As for Saul, he made havock of the Assembly, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 離散せる人々は行巡りて、神の御言の福音を宣傳へつつありき。
Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
5 第一 フィリッポのサマリアに於る布教の功績 第二項 教會異邦人の中に弘まらんとす 第一款 サマリア人及びエチオピアの閹者に及ぼせる感化 然てフィリッポ、サマリアの都會に下りてキリストの事を述べければ、
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 人々心を揃へてフィリッポの云ふ所を聴きすまし、其為せる徴を見居たり。
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 即ち多くの汚鬼其憑きたる人々の中より聲高く叫びつつ出で、又癱瘋者と跛者との醫されたる者多かりければ、
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 彼市中に大いなる喜となれり。
And there was great joy in that city.
9 爰にシモンと云へる人あり、豫て彼市中に魔術を行ひて、サマリアの人民を惑はし、自ら大人と稱し、
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 小より大に至るまで人皆之に歸服して、所謂大神力とは此人なり、と云ひ居たりしが、
To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 人々の彼に歸服せるは、久く其魔術に心を奪はれたる故なりき。
And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 然れどフィリッポが神の國に就て宣ぶる福音を信じて、男女共にイエズス、キリストの御名によりて洗せられければ、
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 シモン自らも信じて洗せられ、フィリッポの傍を離れず、徴と最も大いなる奇蹟との行はるるを見て驚嘆し居たり。
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 第二 サマリアに於るペトロ及びヨハネの聖役 然てエルザレムに居る使徒等、サマリア人が神の御言を承入れたるを聞き、ペトロとヨハネとを遣はしければ、
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 兩人彼處に至りて彼等の聖霊を受けん為に祈れり。
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 其は彼等、主イエズスの御名によりて洗せられしのみにて、聖霊は未だ其一人にも降り給ひし事なければなり。
( For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 斯て兩人信者の上に按手しければ、皆聖霊を蒙りつつありき。
Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
18 使徒等の按手によりて聖霊の授けらるるを見るや、シモン彼等に金を差出し、
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 如何なる人に按手するも其人聖霊を蒙る様、我にも此能力を與へよ、と云ひしかば、ペトロ之に向ひて云ひけるは、
Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 汝の金は汝と共に亡びよ、其は汝神の賜を金にて得らるるものと思ひたればなり。
But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 汝は此事に配分なく與る所なし、其心神の御前に正しからざればなり。
Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 然れば此不義より改心して神に祈れ、汝が心の此念或は赦さるる事あらん。
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 我が見る所によれば、汝は苦き胆汁と不義の縲絏との中に在ればなり、と。
For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 シモン答へて云ひけるは、汝等こそ我為に主に祈りて、其語れる所を一も我に來る事なからしめよ、と。
Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
25 斯てペトロとヨハネとは、主の御言を證し且語りて、後エルザレムに歸りしが、途次サマリア人の多くの村に福音を宣べたり。
And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 第三 エチオピアの閹者の感化 然て主の使フィリッポに語りて、汝起ちて南に向ひ、エルザレムよりガザに下る道に至れ、其は寂しき道なり、と云ひしかば、
And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 彼起ちて往きしに、折しも一人のエチオピア人、即ちエチオピア女王カンダケの大臣なる閹者にして悉く其寳を宰れる者、禮拝の為にエルザレムに來たりしが、
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 己が車に坐して、預言者イザヤ[の書]を読みながら歸りつつありき。
Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Isaiah the prophet.
29 其時[聖]霊フィリッポに向ひ、近づきて彼車に跟け、と曰ひしかば、
Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 フィリッポ走寄りて、彼が預言者イザヤ[の書]を読めるを聞き、汝其読む所を暁れりと思ふか、と云ひしに、彼、
And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Isaiah, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 我を導く者なくば争でか暁ることを得ん、と云ひて、乗りて共に坐せん事をフィリッポに乞へり。
And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 然て其読みつつありし聖書の文は次の如し、「彼羊の如く屠所に引かれ、口を開かざる事、羔の其毛を剪る者の前に聲なきが如く、
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 卑しめられて裁判を奪はれたり、誰か其時代の人の處分を述ぶる事を得ん、即ち活ける者の地上より取除かれたればなり」。
In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 閹者フィリッポに向ひて、請ふ、預言者の斯く云へるは誰が事ぞ、己が事か将他人の事か、と云ひければ、
And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 フィリッポ口を開きて、聖書の此文を初としてイエズスの福音を宣べたり。
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 尚道を往きけるに、水ある處に至りしかば閹者、看よ、水あり、我が洗せらるるに何の障かある、と云ひしを、
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 フィリッポ、汝一心に信ぜば可かるべし、と云ひければ彼答へて、我イエズス、キリストの神の御子たる事を信ず、と云ひ、
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 命じて車を停めしめ、二人ながら水に下りてフィリッポ閹者を洗せり。
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 彼等水より上りしに、主の霊フィリッポを取去り給ひしかば、閹者は再び之を見ざりしかども、喜びつつ己が道を往き居たりき。
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 然てフィリッポはアゾトに現れ、至る處の町村に福音を宣傳へつつカイザリアに至れり。
But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Cæsarea.
