使徒の働き 6
1 第一 執事の選挙 其頃弟子の數の加はるに随ひ、ギリシア語のユデア人、其寡婦等が毎日の施に漏らされたりとて、ヘブレオ語のユデア人に對して呟くに至りしかば、
And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 十二使徒許多の弟子を呼集めて云ひけるは、我等が神の御言を措て食卓に給仕するは、道理に非ず。
Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word (logos) of God, and serve tables.
3 故に兄弟等よ、汝等の中より、聖霊と知慮とに充ちて好評ある者七人を選め、我等之に此事務を宰らしめ、
Wherefore, brethren, look all of you out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit (pneuma) and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 自らは祈祷と宣教とに身を委ねん、と。
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. (logos)
5 此言群衆一同の心に適ひしかば、信仰と聖霊とに充てるステファノ並にフィリッポ、プロコロ、ニカノル、チモン、パルメナ、又ユデア教に歸依したりしアンチオキアのニコラを選みて、
And the saying (logos) pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 使徒等の前に差出したるに、使徒等は祈祷しつつ之に按手せり。
Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 斯て主の御言益弘まり、エルザレムに於て弟子の數の増す事非常にして、司祭の信仰に歸服したる者も亦夥しかりき。
And the word (logos) of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 第二 ステファノ衆議所に引かる 斯てステファノは恩寵と勇氣とに充ちて、大いなる奇蹟と徴とを人民の中に行ひ居たりしが、
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
9 或人々は、所謂被解放者の會堂、及びクレネ人、アレキサンドリア人、及びシリシアと[小]アジアとの出身者の諸會堂より起ちて、ステファノと争論すれども、
Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10 彼の智恵と彼に於て語り給へる聖霊とに抵抗する事能はざりき。
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit (pneuma) by which he spoke.
11 然れば彼等或人々を教唆して、我等は彼がモイゼと神とを冒涜する言を出せるを聞けり、と云はしめ、
Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words (rhema) against Moses, and against God.
12 終に人民と長老と律法學士とを煽動して、一斉に飛掛りて之を捕へ、衆議所に引出し、
And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13 僞證人を立てて云はせけるは、此人は聖所と律法とに反する言を語りて止まず、
And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words (rhema) against this holy place, and the law:
14 即ち我等は、彼ナザレトのイエズス此所を亡ぼし、モイゼの我等に傳へし例を變ふべし、と彼が言ふを聞けり、と。
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
15 斯て議會に列座せる人、一同に目を注ぎてステファノを見れば、其顔恰も天使の顔の如くなりき。
And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
