コリント人への手紙第二 2
1 然て我心の中に、再び悲を以て汝等に至らじと定めたり、
But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
2 蓋我もし汝等を悲しましめば、我が悲しましむる其者ならで誰か我を喜ばしめんや。
For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
3 我が曩に汝等に書遣りしも、至らん時我を喜ばすべき筈の人々に由りて、却て悲に悲を重ぬる事なからん為にして、我喜は汝等一同の喜なりと、汝等一同に就きて信ずる故なり。
And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
4 蓋我大いなる患難と心痛とにより、多くの涙を以て汝等に書遣れり、是汝等を悲しましめんとには非ず、汝等に對する我寵の殊に深きを知らしめん為なりき。
For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
5 若悲しましめたる人あらば、其は我[のみ]を悲しましめたるに非ずして、幾許か汝等一同を悲しましめたるなり、我は激しく責めじとて斯く言ふ。
But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
6 然る人は多くの人より受けたる譴責にて事足れり。
Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
7 汝等は寧之を宥恕し且慰めよ、恐くは其人堪へ難き悲しみに沈むべければ、
So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8 我は汝等が彼に對して、愈愛を加へん事を希ふ。
Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
9 曩に書遣りしも是が為にして、汝等が萬事に從へるや否やを試に知らんとてなりき。
For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
10 抑汝等何事をか人に赦したらば我も然せん、我が赦したる事あるも汝等に對してキリストの御前に赦したるなり。
To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
11 是は我等サタンの謀を知らざるに非ざれば、之に籠絡せられざらん為なり。
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
12 然我キリストの福音の為トロアデ[町]に至りしに、主我に門を開き給ひたれど、
Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
13 我は我兄弟チトに遇はざるによりて心安からず、別を彼等に告げてマケドニアに出發せり。
I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
14 我等をして何時もキリスト、イエズスによりて勝を得させ、且我等を以て彼を知る事の香を何處にも顕し給へる神に感謝し奉る。
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15 蓋救はるる人にも亡ぶる人にも、我等は神の御為キリストの馨しき香なり、
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
16 或人には死の香にして死に至らしむれど、或人には生の香にして生に至らしむ。而も、誰か此等の任に勝へたる者ぞ。
To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17 蓋我等は多くの人の如くに神の御言を僞造せず、眞實の儘に神より出づる如く、神の御前にキリストに於て語る。
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
