コリント人への手紙第一 9
1 第五項 パウロ、生活上に自由を濫用せざりしことを説示す 我は自由の身ならずや、使徒ならずや、我主イエズス、キリストを見奉りしに非ずや、汝等が主に在るは、我業ならずや。
Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? and are not ye my work in the Lord?
2 我假令他の人に取りては使徒に非ずとするも、汝等には使徒なり、其は汝等は主に於て我使徒職の印章なればなり。
If I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you: for ye are in the Lord the seal of my apostleship.
3 我に問ふ人々に對する我答弁は其なり。
And this is my answer to them that call me to account: have we not power to eat and to drink?
4 然て我等は飲食する権なきか、
have
5 他の使徒等、主の兄弟等及びケファの如く、姉妹なる婦を携ふる権なきか、
we not power to lead about with us a sister a wife as well as other apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
6 又唯我一人とバルナバとのみ勞働せざる権なきか。
Or is it I only and Barnabas, that have not power to forbear working?
7 誰か自ら費用を弁じて軍に出づる者あらんや、誰か葡萄園を植ゑて其果を食せざる者あらんや、誰か群を牧して群の乳を飲まざる者あらんや。
Who ever goes a warfare at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and doth not eat of the fruit of it? or who feedeth a flock, and doth not eat of the milk of the flock?
8 我豈人間の通例に由りてのみ斯る事を言はんや、律法も斯く云ふに非ずや。
Do I speak these things as a man only?
9 即ちモイゼの律法に録して、「汝穀物を踏碾す牛の口を結ぶ事勿れ」、とあり、神は牛の為に慮り給へるか、
or saith not the law the same also? for it is written in the law of Moses, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn." Now doth God take care for oxen,
10 之を曰へるは實に我等の為なるか、然り我等の為に録されたるなり。蓋耕す者は希望を以て耕し、穀物を踏碾す者も其果を得るの希望を以てすべきなり。
or doth He say this indeed for our sakes? For it is certainly written for our sakes, that he, who ploweth, might plow in hope; and that he, who thresheth in hope, should partake of his hope.
11 汝等の中に霊的の物を蒔きたる我等なれば、汝等の肉的の物を刈取るとも、豈大事ならんや。
If we then have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we reap your carnal things?
12 他の人汝等の上に其権を有するに、我等何を以てか一層然らざらんや。然れども我等は此権を利用せずして、聊もキリストの福音を妨げざらん為に、何事をも忍ぶなり。
If others partake of this power over you, may not we rather? though we have not used this power; but we bear all things, least we should cause any hindrance to the gospel of Christ.
13 汝等知らずや、聖職を営む人々は[聖]殿の物を食し、又祭壇に事ふる人々は祭壇の分配に與る。
Do ye not know, that they who are employed about the sacrifices have their food from the temple? and they, who attend at the altar, are partakers with the altar?
14 斯の如く、主も亦福音を宣ぶる人々が福音に由りて生活する事を定め給ひしなり。
So also the Lord hath ordained, that those who preach the Gospel should live of the Gospel.
15 我斯る事を一も利用せざりしに、而も之を書送るは、斯の如く為られんとには非ず、其は此名誉の點を人に奪はるるよりは、寧死するこそ我に取りて善ければなり。
But I have availed myself of none of these things. Nor have I written these things, that it might be so done as to me: for it were better for me to die, than that any one should make this my glorying void.
16 蓋福音を宣ぶるも、之を以て名誉とするに非ず、我は其必要に迫れるなり。福音を宣傳へざらんは、我に取りて禍なればなり。
For if I preach the gospel, yet I have no ground for boasting; because I am under necessity to do it: and wo is me if I do not preach the Gospel.
17 即ち快く之を為せば報を得、心ならず之を為すも、其務は我に委ねられたるなり。
Now if I do this willingly, I have a reward; and if unwillingly, yet I am intrusted with the commission, and I must execute it.
18 然らば我報は如何なるものぞ、其は福音を宣べて、人に費なく福音を得させ、福音に於る我権を利用せざる事是なり。
What is my reward then but this? that when I preach I may make the gospel of Christ not expensive, that so I may not abuse my power in the gospel.
19 蓋我は衆人に對して自由の身なれども、成るべく多くの人を儲けん為に、身を以て衆人の奴隷となせり。
For though I am free from all, yet I have made myself a servant to all, that I might gain the more.
20 ユデア人を儲けん為には、ユデア人に對してユデア人の如くに成り、
And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; that is, to those, who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law:
21 律法の下に在る人々を儲けん為には、己律法の下に在ざれども、律法の下にある人々に對して律法の下に在が如くに成り、律法なき人々を儲けん為には、己は神の律法なきに非ずしてキリストの律法の下に在ども、律法なき人々に對して律法なき者の如くに成り、
and to those without the law as without the law, (not being without law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain those who are without the law.
22 弱き人々を儲けん為には、弱き者に對して弱き者と成り、如何にもして數人を救はん為には、衆人に對して如何なる者にも成れり。
To the weak I became as the weak, that I might gain the weak: I became all things to all men, that I might by every means save some.
23 我が如何なる事をも福音の為にするは、其分に與らんとてなり。
And this I do for the sake of the gospel, that I may be a fellow partaker of it.
24 第六項 此理を應用して献身を勧む 汝等知らずや、競走の場を走る人は悉く走ると雖も、賞を受くるは一人のみ、汝等受け得べき様に走れ。
Know ye not, that those, who run in a race, do all indeed run, but one only receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain.
25 総て勝負を争ふ人は萬事を節へ慎む、而も彼等は朽つる冠を得んとするに、我等は朽ちざる冠を得んとす。
And every one that enters the lists is temperate in all things: they indeed do it that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible one.
26 故に我が走るは目的なきが如くには非ず、我が戰ふは空を撃つが如くには非ず、
I therefore so run, not as unobserved: I so fight, not as one that beateth the air:
27 而も我わが體を打ちて之を奴隷たらしむ、是は他人を教へて自ら棄てられん事を懼るればなり。
but I mortify my body and bring it into subjection, least after having preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
