コリント人への手紙第一 4
1 第四項 パウロ自己の弁解 然れば人は宜しく、我等をキリストの僕、神の奥義の分配者と思ふべし。
Let a man so account of us as servants of Christ, and stewards of [the] mysteries of God.
2 然て分配者に要求する所は其忠實なる事なれど、
Here, further, it is sought in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
3 我は汝等により、或は人の裁判によりて是非せらるることを、聊も意と為ず、又自ら是非する事をも為ざるなり。
But for me it is the very smallest matter that I be examined of you or of man's day. Nor do I even examine myself.
4 蓋良心に何の咎むる事はなけれども、之に由りて義とせらるるには非ず、我を是非し給ふ者は主なり。
For I am conscious of nothing in myself; but I am not justified by this: but he that examines me is the Lord.
5 然れば汝等主の來り給ふ迄は、時に先ちて是非すること勿れ、主は暗夜の隠れたる所をを照らし、心の謀を發き給ふべし、其時面々に神より誉を得ん。
So that do not judge anything before [the] time, until the Lord shall come, who shall also both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and shall make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then shall each have [his] praise from God.
6 兄弟等よ、我が是等の事を、我とアポルロとに引當てて云ひしは、是汝等の為、即ち我等の例を以て、録されたる以外に、一人を揚げ一人を蔑げて誇らざらん事を汝等に學ばしめん為なり。
Now these things, brethren, I have transferred, in their application, to myself and Apollos, for your sakes, that ye may learn in us the [lesson of] not [letting your thoughts go] above what is written, that ye may not be puffed up one for [such a] one against another.
7 蓋汝を差別する者は誰ぞや、汝の有てる物にして、貰はざりし物は何かある、貰ひしならば、何ぞ貰はざりしが如くに誇るや。
For who makes thee to differ? and what hast thou which thou hast not received? but if also thou hast received, why boastest thou as not receiving?
8 汝等既に飽足れり、既に富めり、我等を措きて王となれり。然り汝等王たれかし、然らば我等も汝等と共に王たるを得ん。
Already ye are filled; already ye have been enriched; ye have reigned without us; and I would that ye reigned, that we also might reign with you.
9 蓋我想ふに、神は使徒たる我等を、後の者、死に定まりたる者として見せ給へり。即ち我等は全世界、天使等にも人間にも観物とせられたるなり。
For I think that God has set us the apostles for the last, as appointed to death. For we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men.
10 我等はキリストの為に愚者なるに、汝等はキリストに於て智者なり、我等は弱くして汝等は強く、汝等は尊くして我等は卑し。
We [are] fools for Christ's sake, but ye prudent in Christ: we weak, but ye strong: ye glorious, but we in dishonour.
11 今の時に至る迄も、我等は飢ゑ、又渇き、又素肌なり、又頬を打たれ、又定まれる住所なく、
To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are in nakedness, and buffeted, and wander without a home,
12 又手業を営みて勞し、詛はれては祝し、迫害せられては忍び、
and labour, working with our own hands. Railed at, we bless; persecuted, we suffer [it];
13 罵られては祈り、今に至る迄も世の芥、衆人の捨物の如くになれり。
insulted, we entreat: we are become as [the] offscouring of the world, [the] refuse of all, until now.
14 我が斯く書記せるは、汝等を辱めんとには非ず、唯我至愛なる子として誡むるのみ。
Not [as] chiding do I write these things to you, but as my beloved children I admonish [you].
15 蓋汝等キリストに於て、師は一萬ありとも父は數多からず、其は福音を以て汝等をキリスト、イエズスに生みたるは我なればなり。
For if ye should have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the glad tidings.
16 故に我汝等に希ふ、（我がキリストに倣へる如く）汝等も我に倣へ。
I entreat you therefore, be my imitators.
17 我は之が為に、主に於て忠實なる我至愛の子チモテオを汝等に遣はしたるが、彼はキリスト、イエズスに於る我道、即ち至る處の各教會に我が教ふる所を、汝等に思出さしめん。
For this reason I have sent to you Timotheus, who is my beloved and faithful child in [the] Lord, who shall put you in mind of my ways [as] they [are] in Christ, according as I teach everywhere in every assembly.
18 或人々は我汝等に至らずとて誇れども、
But some have been puffed up, as if I were not coming to you;
19 主の思召ならば、我は速に汝等に至り、誇れる人々の言を措きて其實力を知らんとす。
but I will come quickly to you, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of those that are puffed up, but the power.
20 是神の國は言にあるに非ずして實力にあればなり。
For the kingdom of God [is] not in word, but in power.
21 汝等は敦をか望める、我が鞭を以て汝等に至らん事か、将愛と温和の心とを以て至らん事か。
What will ye? that I come to you with a rod; or in love, and [in] a spirit of meekness?
