詩篇 73

1 アサフの歌 神は正しい者にむかい、心の清い者にむかって、まことに恵みふかい。

[A Psalm by Asaph.] Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.

2 しかし、わたしは、わたしの足がつまずくばかり、わたしの歩みがすべるばかりであった。

But as for me, my feet were almost gone. My steps had nearly slipped.

3 これはわたしが、悪しき者の栄えるのを見て、その高ぶる者をねたんだからである。

For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 彼らには苦しみがなく、その身はすこやかで、つやがあり、

For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm.

5 ほかの人々のように悩むことがなく、ほかの人々のように打たれることはない。

They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men.

6 それゆえ高慢は彼らの首飾となり、暴力は衣のように彼らをおおっている。

Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment.

7 彼らは肥え太って、その目はとびいで、その心は愚かな思いに満ちあふれている。

Their sin proceeds forth from fatness. Their hearts overflow with imaginations.

8 彼らはあざけり、悪意をもって語り、高ぶって、しえたげを語る。

They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression.

9 彼らはその口を天にさからって置き、その舌は地をあるきまわる。

They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.

10 それゆえ民は心を変えて彼らをほめたたえ、彼らのうちにあやまちを認めない。

Therefore his people turn to them, and they drink up waters of abundance.

11 彼らは言う、「神はどうして知り得ようか、いと高き者に知識があろうか」と。

They say, "How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?"

12 見よ、これらは悪しき者であるのに、常に安らかで、その富が増し加わる。

Look, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.

13 まことに、わたしはいたずらに心をきよめ、罪を犯すことなく手を洗った。

Surely in vain I have cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocence,

14 わたしはひねもす打たれ、朝ごとに懲しめをうけた。

For all day long have I been plagued, and punished every morning.

15 もしわたしが「このような事を語ろう」と言ったなら、わたしはあなたの子らの代を誤らせたであろう。

If I had said, "I will speak thus;" look, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.

16 しかし、わたしがこれを知ろうと思いめぐらしたとき、これはわたしにめんどうな仕事のように思われた。

When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me;

17 わたしが神の聖所に行って、彼らの最後を悟り得たまではそうであった。

Until I entered God's sanctuary, and considered their latter end.

18 まことにあなたは彼らをなめらかな所に置き、彼らを滅びに陥らせられる。

Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction.

19 なんと彼らはまたたくまに滅ぼされ、恐れをもって全く一掃されたことであろう。

How they are suddenly destroyed. They are completely swept away with terrors.

20 あなたが目をさまして彼らの影をかろしめられるとき、彼らは夢みた人の目をさました時のようである。

As a dream when one wakes up, so, LORD, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.

21 わたしの魂が痛み、わたしの心が刺されたとき、

For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.

22 わたしは愚かで悟りがなく、あなたに対しては獣のようであった。

I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.

23 けれどもわたしは常にあなたと共にあり、あなたはわたしの右の手を保たれる。

Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.

24 あなたはさとしをもってわたしを導き、その後わたしを受けて栄光にあずからせられる。

You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

25 わたしはあなたのほかに、だれを天にもち得よう。地にはあなたのほかに慕うものはない。

Who do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth who I desire besides you.

26 わが身とわが心とは衰える。しかし神はとこしえにわが心の力、わが嗣業である。

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

27 見よ、あなたに遠い者は滅びる。あなたは、あなたにそむく者を滅ぼされる。

For, look, those who are far from you shall perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.

28 しかし神に近くあることはわたしに良いことである。わたしは主なる神をわが避け所として、あなたのもろもろのみわざを宣べ伝えるであろう。

But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the LORD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works in the gates of the daughter of Zion.
