詩篇 44
1 聖歌隊の指揮者によってうたわせたコラの子のマスキールの歌 神よ、いにしえ、われらの先祖たちの日に、あなたがなされたみわざを彼らがわれらに語ったのを耳で聞きました。
We have sh'ma ·heard obeyed· with our ears, God; our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
2 すなわちあなたはみ手をもって、もろもろの国民を追い払ってわれらの先祖たちを植え、またもろもろの民を悩まして、われらの先祖たちをふえ広がらせられました。
You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
3 彼らは自分のつるぎによって国を獲たのでなく、また自分の腕によって勝利を得たのでもありません。ただあなたの右の手、あなたの腕、あなたのみ顔の光によるのでした。あなたが彼らを恵まれたからです。
For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.
4 あなたはわが王、わが神、ヤコブのために勝利を定められる方です。
You are my King, God. Enjoin yishu'ah ·deliverance· for Jacob [Supplanter]!
5 われらはあなたによって、あだを押し倒し、われらに立ちむかう者を、み名によって踏みにじるのです。
Through you, will we push down our adversaries. Through your name, will we tread them under who rise up against us.
6 わたしは自分の弓を頼まず、わたしのつるぎもまた、わたしを救うことができないからです。
For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
7 しかしあなたはわれらをあだから救い、われらを憎む者をはずかしめられました。
But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.
8 われらは常に神によって誇り、とこしえにあなたのみ名に感謝するでしょう。 (セラ)
In God we have made our boast all day long, we will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to your name forever. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
9 ところがあなたはわれらを捨てて恥を負わせ、われらの軍勢と共に出て行かれませんでした。
But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don’t go out with our armies.
10 あなたがわれらをあだの前から退かせられたので、われらの敵は心のままにかすめ奪いました。
You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
11 あなたはわれらをほふられる羊のようにし、またもろもろの国民のなかに散らされました。
You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.
12 あなたはわずかの金であなたの民を売り、彼らのために高い価を求められませんでした。
You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
13 あなたはわれらを隣り人にそしらせ、われらをめぐる者どもに侮らせ、あざけらせられました。
You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
14 またもろもろの国民のなかにわれらを笑い草とし、もろもろの民のなかに笑い者とされました。
You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
15 わがはずかしめはひねもすわたしの前にあり、恥はわたしの顔をおおいました。
All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,
16 これはそしる者と、ののしる者の言葉により、敵と、恨みを報いる者のゆえによるのです。
At the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.
17 これらの事が皆われらに臨みましたが、われらはあなたを忘れず、あなたの契約にそむくことがありませんでした。
All this has come on us, yet have we not forgotten you, Neither have we been false to your covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties·.
18 われらの心はたじろがず、またわれらの歩みはあなたの道を離れませんでした。
Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,
19 それでもあなたは山犬の住む所でわれらを砕き、暗やみをもってわれらをおおわれました。
Though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
20 われらがもしわれらの神の名を忘れ、ほかの神に手を伸べたことがあったならば、
If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange deity;
21 神はこれを見あらわされないでしょうか。神は心の秘密をも知っておられるからです。
won’t God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
22 ところがわれらはあなたのためにひねもす殺されて、ほふられる羊のようにみなされました。
Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
23 主よ、起きてください。なぜ眠っておられるのですか。目をさましてください。われらをとこしえに捨てないでください。
Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don’t reject us forever.
24 なぜあなたはみ顔を隠されるのですか。なぜわれらの悩みと、しえたげをお忘れになるのですか。
Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
25 まことにわれらの魂はかがんで、ちりに伏し、われらのからだは土につきました。
For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.
26 起きて、われらをお助けください。あなたのいつくしみのゆえに、われらをあがなってください。
Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your cheshed ·loving-kindness’· sake.
