詩篇 127

1 ソロモンがよんだ都もうでの歌 主が家を建てられるのでなければ、建てる者の勤労はむなしい。主が町を守られるのでなければ、守る者のさめているのはむなしい。

A Song of Ascents. By Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, they who build it labour in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.

2 あなたがたが早く起き、おそく休み、辛苦のかてを食べることは、むなしいことである。主はその愛する者に、眠っている時にも、なくてならぬものを与えられるからである。

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

3 見よ、子供たちは神から賜わった嗣業であり、胎の実は報いの賜物である。

Behold, children are a heritage of the LORD. The fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 壮年の時の子供は勇士の手にある矢のようだ。

As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.

5 矢の満ちた矢筒を持つ人はさいわいである。彼は門で敵と物言うとき恥じることはない。

Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They won’t be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
