箴言 知恵の泉 19
1 正しく歩む貧しい者は、曲ったことを言う愚かな者にまさる。
Better is a poor [man] that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 人が知識のないのは良くない、足で急ぐ者は道に迷う。
Also that a person be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet maketh false steps.
3 人は自分の愚かさによって道につまずき、かえって心のうちに主をうらむ。
The folly of man distorteth his way, and his heart is irritated against Jehovah.
4 富は多くの新しい友を作る、しかし貧しい人はその友に捨てられる。
Wealth addeth many friends; but the poor is separated from his friend.
5 偽りの証人は罰を免れない、偽りをいう者はのがれることができない。
A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
6 気前のよい人にこびる者は多い、人はみな贈り物をする人の友となる。
Many court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.
7 貧しい者はその兄弟すらもみなこれを憎む、ましてその友はこれに遠ざからないであろうか。言葉をかけてこれを呼んでも、去って帰らないのである。
All the brethren of a poor [man] hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him: he pursueth [them] with words, — they are not [to be found].
8 知恵を得る者は自分の魂を愛し、悟りを保つ者は幸を得る。
He that getteth sense loveth his own soul; he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 偽りの証人は罰を免れない、偽りをいう者は滅びる。
A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
10 愚かな者が、ぜいたくな暮しをするのは、ふさわしいことではない、しもべたる者が、君たる者を治めるなどは、なおさらである。
Good living beseemeth not a fool; how much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 悟りは人に怒りを忍ばせる、あやまちをゆるすのは人の誉である。
The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 王の怒りは、ししのほえるようであり、その恵みは草の上におく露のようである。
The king's displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 愚かな子はその父の災である、妻の争うのは、雨漏りの絶えないのとひとしい。
A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 家と富とは先祖からうけつぐもの、賢い妻は主から賜わるものである。
House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.
15 怠りは人を熟睡させる、なまけ者は飢える。
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 戒めを守る者は自分の魂を守る、み言葉を軽んじる者は死ぬ。
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; he that is careless of his ways shall die.
17 貧しい者をあわれむ者は主に貸すのだ、その施しは主が償われる。
He that is gracious to the poor lendeth unto Jehovah; and what he hath bestowed will he repay unto him.
18 望みのあるうちに、自分の子を懲らせ、これを滅ぼす心を起してはならない。
Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; but set not thy soul upon killing him.
19 怒ることの激しい者は罰をうける、たとい彼を救ってやっても、さらにくり返さねばならない。
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment; for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.
20 勧めを聞き、教訓をうけよ、そうすれば、ついには知恵ある者となる。
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 人の心には多くの計画がある、しかしただ主の、み旨だけが堅く立つ。
Many are the thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah, that doth stand.
22 人に望ましいのは、いつくしみ深いことである、貧しい人は偽りをいう人にまさる。
The charm of a man is his kindness; and a poor [man] is better than a liar.
23 主を恐れることは人を命に至らせ、常に飽き足りて、災にあうことはない。
The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life, and he [that hath it] shall rest satisfied without being visited with evil.
24 なまけ者は、手を皿に入れても、それを口に持ってゆくことをしない。
A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it to his mouth again.
25 あざける者を打て、そうすれば思慮のない者も慎む。さとき者を戒めよ、そうすれば彼は知識を得る。
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware; reprove the intelligent, and he will understand knowledge.
26 父に乱暴をはたらき、母を追い出す者は、恥をきたらし、はずかしめをまねく子である。
He that ruineth [his] father and chaseth away [his] mother is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
27 わが子よ、知識の言葉をはなれて人を迷わせる教訓を聞くことをやめよ。
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction which causeth to stray from the words of knowledge.
28 悪い証人はさばきをあざけり、悪しき者の口は悪をむさぼり食う。
A witness of Belial scorneth judgment, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.
29 さばきはあざける者のために備えられ、むちは愚かな者の背のために備えられる。
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of the foolish.
