箴言 知恵の泉 14
1 知恵はその家を建て、愚かさは自分の手でそれをこわす。
Every wise woman buildeth her house; but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2 まっすぐに歩む者は主を恐れる、曲って歩む者は主を侮る。
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD; but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth Him.
3 愚かな者の言葉は自分の背にむちを当てる、知恵ある者のくちびるはその身を守る。
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4 牛がなければ穀物はない、牛の力によって農作物は多くなる。
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 真実な証人はうそをいわない、偽りの証人はうそをつく。
A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness breatheth forth lies.
6 あざける者は知恵を求めても得られない、さとき者は知識を得ることがたやすい。
A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; but knowledge is easy unto him that hath discernment.
7 愚かな者の前を離れ去れ、そこには知識の言葉がないからである。
Go from the presence of a foolish man, for thou wilt not perceive the lips of knowledge.
8 さとき者の知恵は自分の道をわきまえることにあり、愚かな者の愚かは、欺くことにある。
The wisdom of the prudent is to look well to his way; but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 神は悪しき者をあざけられる、正しい者は、その恵みを受ける。
Amends pleadeth for fools; but among the upright there is good will.
10 心の苦しみは心みずからが知る、その喜びには他人はあずからない。
The heart knoweth its own bitterness; and with its joy no stranger can intermeddle.
11 悪しき者の家は滅ぼされ、正しい者の幕屋は栄える。
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12 人が見て自ら正しいとする道でも、その終りはついに死に至る道となるものがある。
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13 笑う時にも心に悲しみがあり、喜びのはてに憂いがある。
Even in laughter the heart acheth; and the end of mirth is heaviness.
14 心のもとれる者はそのしわざの実を刈り取り、善良な人もまたその行いの実を刈り取る。
The dissembler in heart shall have his fill from his own ways; and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15 思慮のない者はすべてのことを信じる、さとき者は自分の歩みを慎む。
The thoughtless believeth every word; but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16 知恵ある者は用心ぶかく、悪を離れる、愚かな者は高ぶって用心しない。
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; but the fool behaveth overbearingly, and is confident.
17 怒りやすい者は愚かなことを行い、賢い者は忍耐強い。
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly; and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18 思慮のない者は愚かなことを自分のものとする、さとき者は知識をもって冠とする。
The thoughtless come into possession of folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 悪人は善人の前にひれ伏し、悪しき者は正しい者の門にひれ伏す。
The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 貧しい者はその隣にさえも憎まれる、しかし富める者は多くの友をもつ。
The poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
21 隣り人を卑しめる者は罪びとである、貧しい人をあわれむ者はさいわいである。
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious unto the humble, happy is he.
22 悪を計る者はおのれを誤るではないか、善を計る者にはいつくしみと、まこととがある。
Shall they not go astray that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be for them that devise good.
23 すべての勤労には利益がある、しかし口先だけの言葉は貧乏をきたらせるだけだ。
In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 知恵ある者の冠はその知恵である、愚かな者の花の冠はただ愚かさである。
The crown of the wise is their riches; but the folly of fools remaineth folly.
25 まことの証人は人の命を救う、偽りを吐く者は裏切者である。
A true witness delivereth souls; but he that breatheth forth lies is all deceit.
26 主を恐れることによって人は安心を得、その子らはのがれ場を得る。
In the fear of the LORD a man hath strong confidence; and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 主を恐れることは命の泉である、人を死のわなからのがれさせる。
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28 王の栄えは民の多いことにあり、君の滅びは民を失うことにある。
In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the want of people is the ruin of the prince.
29 怒りをおそくする者は大いなる悟りがあり、気の短い者は愚かさをあらわす。
He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30 穏やかな心は身の命である、しかし興奮は骨を腐らせる。
A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; but envy is the rottenness of the bones.
31 貧しい者をしえたげる者はその造り主を侮る、乏しい者をあわれむ者は、主をうやまう。
He that oppresseth the poor blasphemeth his Maker; but he that is gracious unto the needy honoureth Him.
32 悪しき者はその悪しき行いによって滅ぼされ、正しい者はその正しきによって、のがれ場を得る。
The wicked is thrust down in his misfortune; but the righteous, even when he is brought to death, hath hope.
33 知恵はさとき者の心にとどまり、愚かな者の心に知られない。
In the heart of him that hath discernment wisdom resteth; but in the inward part of fools it maketh itself known.
34 正義は国を高くし、罪は民をはずかしめる。
Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.
35 賢いしもべは王の恵みをうけ、恥をきたらす者はその怒りにあう。
The king's favour is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; but his wrath striketh him that dealeth shamefully.
