民数記 36

1 ヨセフの子孫の氏族のうち、マナセの子マキルの子であるギレアデの子らの氏族のかしらたちがきて、モーセとイスラエルの人々のかしらであるつかさたちとの前で語って、

And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:

2 言った、「イスラエルの人々に、その嗣業の地をくじによって与えることを主はあなたに命じられ、あなたもまた、われわれの兄弟ゼロペハデの嗣業を、その娘たちに与えるよう、主によって命じられました。

And they said, YHWH commanded my master to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my master was commanded by YHWH to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.

3 その娘たちがもし、イスラエルの人々のうちの他の部族のむすこたちにとつぐならば、彼女たちの嗣業は、われわれの父祖の嗣業のうちから取り除かれて、そのとつぐ部族の嗣業に加えられるでしょう。こうしてそれはわれわれの嗣業の分から取り除かれるでしょう。

And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.

4 そしてイスラエルの人々のヨベルの年がきた時、彼女たちの嗣業は、そのとついだ部族の嗣業に加えられるでしょう。こうして彼女たちの嗣業は、われわれの父祖の部族の嗣業のうちから取り除かれるでしょう」。

And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.

5 モーセは主の言葉にしたがって、イスラエルの人々に命じて言った、「ヨセフの子孫の部族の言うところは正しい。

And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of YHWH, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.

6 ゼロペハデの娘たちについて、主が命じられたことはこうである。すなわち『彼女たちはその心にかなう者にとついでもよいが、ただその父祖の部族の一族にのみ、とつがなければならない。

This is the thing which YHWH doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.

7 そうすればイスラエルの人々の嗣業は、部族から部族に移るようなことはないであろう。イスラエルの人々は、おのおのその父祖の部族の嗣業をかたく保つべきだからである。

So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

8 イスラエルの人々の部族のうち、嗣業をもっている娘はみな、その父の部族に属する一族にとつがなければならない。そうすればイスラエルの人々は、おのおのその父祖の嗣業を保つことができる。

And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.

9 こうして嗣業は一つの部族から他の部族に移ることはなかろう。イスラエルの人々の部族はおのおのその嗣業をかたく保つべきだからである』」。

Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.

10 そこでゼロペハデの娘たちは、主がモーセに命じられたようにした。

Even as YHWH commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:

11 すなわちゼロペハデの娘たち、マアラ、テルザ、ホグラ、ミルカおよびノアは、その父の兄弟のむすこたちにとついだ。

For Mahlal, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father's brothers' sons:

12 彼女たちはヨセフの子マナセのむすこたちの一族にとついだので、その嗣業はその父の一族の属する部族にとどまった。

And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

13 これらはエリコに近いヨルダンのほとりのモアブの平野で、主がモーセによってイスラエルの人々に命じられた命令とおきてである。

These are the commandments and the judgments, which YHWH commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.
