マタイの福音書 25
1 このとき天國は、燈火を執りて新郎を迎へに出づる、十 人の處女に比ふべし。
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be like ten virgins, who, taking their lamps, went out to meet the groom and the bride.
2 その中の五 人は愚にして五 人は慧し。
But five of them were foolish, and five were prudent.
3 愚なる者は燈火をとりて油を携へず、
For the five foolish, having brought their lamps, did not take oil with them.
4 慧きものは油を器に入れて燈火とともに携へたり。
Yet truly, the prudent ones brought the oil, in their containers, with the lamps.
5 新郎 遲かりしかば、皆まどろみて寢ぬ。
Since the bridegroom was delayed, they all fell asleep, and they were sleeping.
6 夜半に「やよ、新郎なるぞ、出で迎へよ」と呼はる聲す。
But in the middle of the night, a cry went out: ‘Behold, the groom is arriving. Go out to meet him.’
7 ここに處女みな起きてその燈火を整へたるに、
Then all those virgins rose up and trimmed their lamps.
8 愚なる者は慧きものに言ふ「なんぢらの油を分けあたへよ、我らの燈火きゆるなり」
But the foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give to us from your oil, for our lamps are being extinguished.’
9 慧きもの答へて言ふ「恐らくは我らと汝らとに足るまじ、寧ろ賣るものに往きて己がために買へ」
The prudent responded by saying, ‘Lest perhaps there may not be enough for us and for you, it would be better for you to go to the vendors and buy some for yourselves.’
10 彼ら買はんとて往きたる間に新郎きたりたれば、備へをりし者どもは彼とともに婚筵にいり、而して門は閉されたり。
But while they were going to buy it, the groom arrived. And those who were prepared entered with him to the wedding, and the door was closed.
11 その後かの他の處女ども來りて「主よ、主よ、われらの爲にひらき給へ」と言ひしに、
Yet truly, at the very end, the remaining virgins also arrived, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12 答へて「まことに汝らに告ぐ、我は汝らを知らず」と言へり。
But he responded by saying, ‘Amen I say to you, I do not know you.’
13 されば目を覺しをれ、汝らは其の日その時を知らざるなり。
And so you must be vigilant, because you do not know the day or the hour.
14 また或 人とほく旅立せんとして、其の僕どもを呼び、之に己が所有を預くるが如し。
For it is like a man setting out on a long journey, who called his servants and delivered to them his goods.
15 各人の能力に應じて、或 者には五タラント、或 者には二タラント、或 者には一タラントを與へ置きて旅立せり。
And to one he gave five talents, and to another two, yet to another he gave one, to each according to his own ability. And promptly, he set out.
16 五タラントを受けし者は、直ちに往き、之をはたらかせて他に五タラントを贏け、
Then he who had received five talents went out, and he made use of these, and he gained another five.
17 二タラントを受けし者も同じく他に二タラントを贏く。
And similarly, he who had received two gained another two.
18 然るに一タラントを受けし者は、往きて地を掘り、その主人の銀をかくし置けり。
But he who had received one, going out, dug into the earth, and he hid the money of his lord.
19 久しうして後この僕どもの主人きたりて彼らと計算したるに、
Yet truly, after a long time, the lord of those servants returned and he settled accounts with them.
20 五タラントを受けし者は他に五タラントを持ちきたりて言ふ「主よ、なんぢ我に五タラントを預けたりしが、視よ、他に五タラントを贏けたり」
And when he who had received five talents approached, he brought another five talents, saying: ‘Lord, you delivered five talents to me. Behold, I have increased it by another five.’
21 主人いふ「宜いかな、善かつ忠なる僕、なんぢは僅なる物に忠なりき。我なんぢに多くの物を掌どらせん、汝の主人の勸喜に入れ」
His lord said to him: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful over a few things, I will appoint you over many things. Enter into the gladness of your lord.’
22 二タラントを受けし者も來りて言ふ「主よ、なんぢ我に二タラントを預けたりしが、視よ、他に二タラントを贏けたり」
Then he who had received two talents also approached, and he said: ‘Lord, you delivered two talents to me. Behold, I have gained another two.’
23 主人いふ「宜いかな、善かつ忠なる僕、なんぢは僅なる物に忠なりき。我なんぢに多くの物を掌どらせん、汝の主人の勸喜にいれ」
His lord said to him: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful over a few things, I will appoint you over many things. Enter into the gladness of your lord.’
24 また一タラントを受けし者もきたりて言ふ「主よ、我はなんぢの嚴しき人にて、播かぬ處より刈り、散らさぬ處より斂むることを知るゆゑに、
Then he who had received one talent, approaching, said: ‘Lord, I know that you are a hard man. You reap where you have not sown, and gather where you have not scattered.
25 懼れてゆき、汝のタラントを地に藏しおけり。視よ、汝はなんぢの物を得たり」
And so, being afraid, I went out and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
26 主人こたへて言ふ「惡しくかつ惰れる僕、わが播かぬ處より刈り、散さぬ處より斂むることを知るか。
But his lord said to him in response: ‘You evil and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered.
27 さらば我が銀を銀行にあづけ置くべかりしなり、我きたりて利子とともに我が物をうけ取りしものを。
Therefore, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and then, at my arrival, at least I would have received what is mine with interest.
28 されば彼のタラントを取りて十タラントを有てる人に與へよ。
And so, take the talent away from him and give it to the one who has ten talents.
29 すべて有てる人は、與へられて愈々 豐ならん。されど有たぬ者は、その有てる物をも取らるべし。
For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he shall have in abundance. But from him who has not, even what he seems to have, shall be taken away.
30 而して此の無 益なる僕を外の暗黒に逐ひいだせ、其處にて哀哭・切齒することあらん」
And cast that useless servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31 人の子その榮光をもて、もろもろの御使を率ゐきたる時、その榮光の座位に坐せん。
But when the Son of man will have arrived in his majesty, and all the Angels with him, then he will sit upon the seat of his majesty.
32 かくてその前にもろもろの國人あつめられん、之を別つこと牧羊者が羊と山羊とを別つ如くして、
And all the nations shall be gathered together before him. And he shall separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 羊をその右に、山羊をその左におかん。
And he shall station the sheep, indeed, on his right, but the goats on his left.
34 ここに王その右にをる者どもに言はん「わが父に祝せられたる者よ、來りて世の創より汝 等のために備へられたる國を嗣げ。
Then the King shall say to those who will be on his right: ‘Come, you blessed of my Father. Possess the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 なんぢら我が飢ゑしときに食はせ、渇きしときに飮ませ、旅人なりし時に宿らせ、
For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in;
36 裸なりしときに衣せ、病みしときに訪ひ、獄に在りしときに來りたればなり」
naked, and you covered me; sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.’
37 ここに、正しき者ら答へて言はん「主よ、何時なんぢの飢ゑしを見て食はせ、渇きしを見て飮ませし。
Then the just will answer him, saying: ‘Lord, when have we seen you hungry, and fed you; thirsty, and given you drink?
38 何時なんぢの旅人なりしを見て宿らせ、裸なりしを見て衣せし。
And when have we seen you a stranger, and taken you in? Or naked, and covered you?
39 何時なんぢの病みまた獄に在りしを見て、汝にいたりし」
Or when did we see you sick, or in prison, and visit to you?’
40 王こたへて言はん「まことに汝らに告ぐ、わが兄弟なる此 等のいと小き者の一人になしたるは、即ち我に爲したるなり」
And in response, the King shall say to them, ‘Amen I say to you, whenever you did this for one of these, the least of my brothers, you did it for me.’
Then he shall also say, to those who will be on his left: ‘Depart from me, you accursed ones, into the eternal fire, which was prepared for the devil and his angels. (aiōnios g166)
42 なんぢら我が飢ゑしときに食はせず、渇きしときに飮ませず、
For I was hungry, and you did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and you did not give me to drink;
43 旅人なりしときに宿らせず、裸なりしときに衣せず、病みまた獄にありしときに訪はざればなり」
I was a stranger and you did not take me in; naked, and you did not cover me; sick and in prison, and you did not visit me.’
44 ここに彼らも答へて言はん「主よ、いつ汝の飢ゑ、或は渇き、或は旅人、あるひは裸、あるひは病み、或は獄に在りしを見て事へざりし」
Then they will also answer him, saying: ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to you?’
45 ここに王こたへて言はん「誠になんぢらに告ぐ、此 等のいと小きものの一人に爲さざりしは、即ち我になさざりしなり」と。
Then he shall respond to them by saying: ‘Amen I say to you, whenever you did not do it to one of these least, neither did you do it to me.’
