ルカの福音書 9
1 それからイエスは十二弟子を呼び集めて、彼らにすべての悪霊を制し、病気をいやす力と権威とをお授けになった。
Then Jesus called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to heal diseases,
2 また神の国を宣べ伝え、かつ病気をなおすためにつかわして
and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
3 言われた、「旅のために何も携えるな。つえも袋もパンも銭も持たず、また下着も二枚は持つな。
He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, neither staffs, knapsack, bread, nor money; and bring only one tunic each.
4 また、どこかの家にはいったら、そこに留まっておれ。そしてそこから出かけることにしなさい。
Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that place.
5 だれもあなたがたを迎えるものがいなかったら、その町を出て行くとき、彼らに対する抗議のしるしに、足からちりを払い落しなさい」。
If any will not receive you, shake off the very dust from your feet as you leave that town, as a testimony against them.”
6 弟子たちは出て行って、村々を巡り歩き、いたる所で福音を宣べ伝え、また病気をいやした。
So they set out and went throughout the villages, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.
7 さて、領主ヘロデはいろいろな出来事を耳にして、あわて惑っていた。それは、ある人たちは、ヨハネが死人の中からよみがえったと言い、
Now Herod the tetrarch heard about everything that Jesus was doing, and he was greatly perplexed, because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead,
8 またある人たちは、エリヤが現れたと言い、またほかの人たちは、昔の預言者のひとりが復活したのだと言っていたからである。
others were saying that Elijah had appeared, and others were saying that one of the ancient prophets had risen.
9 そこでヘロデが言った、「ヨハネはわたしがすでに首を切ったのだが、こうしてうわさされているこの人は、いったい、だれなのだろう」。そしてイエスに会ってみようと思っていた。
But Herod said, “John I beheaded; who then is this man about whom I hear such things?” So he was looking for an opportunity to see him.
10 使徒たちは帰ってきて、自分たちのしたことをすべてイエスに話した。それからイエスは彼らを連れて、ベツサイダという町へひそかに退かれた。
When the apostles returned, they told Jesus about all they had done. Then he took them along and withdrew privately to a desolate place belonging to a town called Bethsaida.
11 ところが群衆がそれと知って、ついてきたので、これを迎えて神の国のことを語り聞かせ、また治療を要する人たちをいやされた。
But when the crowds found out about it, they followed him. So he welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and cured those who had need of healing.
12 それから日が傾きかけたので、十二弟子がイエスのもとにきて言った、「群衆を解散して、まわりの村々や部落へ行って宿を取り、食物を手にいれるようにさせてください。わたしたちはこんな寂しい所にきているのですから」。
As the day began to draw to a close, the twelve came up and said to Jesus, “Send the crowd away so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and provisions, for we are in a desolate place here.”
13 しかしイエスは言われた、「あなたがたの手で食物をやりなさい」。彼らは言った、「わたしたちにはパン五つと魚二ひきしかありません、この大ぜいの人のために食物を買いに行くかしなければ」。
But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have only five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for this entire group of people.”
14 というのは、男が五千人ばかりもいたからである。しかしイエスは弟子たちに言われた、「人々をおおよそ五十人ずつの組にして、すわらせなさい」。
(For there were about five thousand men.) Then he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of fifty each.”
15 彼らはそのとおりにして、みんなをすわらせた。
The disciples did so, and had everyone sit down.
16 イエスは五つのパンと二ひきの魚とを手に取り、天を仰いでそれを祝福してさき、弟子たちにわたして群衆に配らせた。
Then Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.
17 みんなの者は食べて満腹した。そして、その余りくずを集めたら、十二かごあった。
They all ate and were filled, and what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
18 イエスがひとりで祈っておられたとき、弟子たちが近くにいたので、彼らに尋ねて言われた、「群衆はわたしをだれと言っているか」。
Once when Jesus was praying in private and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
19 彼らは答えて言った、「バプテスマのヨハネだと、言っています。しかしほかの人たちは、エリヤだと言い、また昔の預言者のひとりが復活したのだと、言っている者もあります」。
They answered, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others say that one of the ancient prophets has risen.”
20 彼らに言われた、「それでは、あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」。ペテロが答えて言った、「神のキリストです」。
Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”
21 イエスは彼らを戒め、この事をだれにも言うなと命じ、そして言われた、
Jesus then warned them and instructed them to tell this to no one,
22 「人の子は必ず多くの苦しみを受け、長老、祭司長、律法学者たちに捨てられ、また殺され、そして三日目によみがえる」。
saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and he must be killed and on the third day rise again.”
23 それから、みんなの者に言われた、「だれでもわたしについてきたいと思うなら、自分を捨て、日々自分の十字架を負うて、わたしに従ってきなさい。
Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
24 自分の命を救おうと思う者はそれを失い、わたしのために自分の命を失う者は、それを救うであろう。
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
25 人が全世界をもうけても、自分自身を失いまたは損したら、なんの得になろうか。
For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?
26 わたしとわたしの言葉とを恥じる者に対しては、人の子もまた、自分の栄光と、父と聖なる御使との栄光のうちに現れて来るとき、その者を恥じるであろう。
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and the holy angels.
27 よく聞いておくがよい、神の国を見るまでは、死を味わわない者が、ここに立っている者の中にいる」。
But truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will certainly not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”
28 これらのことを話された後、八日ほどたってから、イエスはペテロ、ヨハネ、ヤコブを連れて、祈るために山に登られた。
About eight days after he had spoken these words, he took Peter, John, and James, and went up on the mountain to pray.
29 祈っておられる間に、み顔の様が変り、み衣がまばゆいほどに白く輝いた。
As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white.
30 すると見よ、ふたりの人がイエスと語り合っていた。それはモーセとエリヤであったが、
And behold, two men were talking with him; they were Moses and Elijah,
31 栄光の中に現れて、イエスがエルサレムで遂げようとする最後のことについて話していたのである。
who appeared in glory and were speaking about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment in Jerusalem.
32 ペテロとその仲間の者たちとは熟睡していたが、目をさますと、イエスの栄光の姿と、共に立っているふたりの人とを見た。
Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
33 このふたりがイエスを離れ去ろうとしたとき、ペテロは自分が何を言っているのかわからないで、イエスに言った、「先生、わたしたちがここにいるのは、すばらしいことです。それで、わたしたちは小屋を三つ建てましょう。一つはあなたのために、一つはモーセのために、一つはエリヤのために」。
As the men were parting from Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three shelters, one for yoʋ, one for Moses, and one for Elijah,” not knowing what he was saying.
34 彼がこう言っている間に、雲がわき起って彼らをおおいはじめた。そしてその雲に囲まれたとき、彼らは恐れた。
But as he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
35 すると雲の中から声があった、「これはわたしの子、わたしの選んだ者である。これに聞け」。
Then a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him!”
36 そして声が止んだとき、イエスがひとりだけになっておられた。弟子たちは沈黙を守って、自分たちが見たことについては、そのころだれにも話さなかった。
When the voice finished speaking, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept silent and did not tell anyone in those days about any of the things they had seen.
37 翌日、一同が山を降りて来ると、大ぜいの群衆がイエスを出迎えた。
On the next day, when they came down from the mountain, Jesus was met by a large crowd.
38 すると突然、ある人が群衆の中から大声をあげて言った、「先生、お願いです。わたしのむすこを見てやってください。この子はわたしのひとりむすこですが、
And behold, a man from among the crowd cried out, “Teacher, I beg yoʋ to look at my son, for he is my one and only child.
39 霊が取りつきますと、彼は急に叫び出すのです。それから、霊は彼をひきつけさせて、あわを吹かせ、彼を弱り果てさせて、なかなか出て行かないのです。
A spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth. It hardly ever leaves him alone, bruising him severely.
40 それで、お弟子たちに、この霊を追い出してくださるように願いましたが、できませんでした」。
I begged yoʋr disciples to cast it out, but they could not.”
41 イエスは答えて言われた、「ああ、なんという不信仰な、曲った時代であろう。いつまで、わたしはあなたがたと一緒におられようか、またあなたがたに我慢ができようか。あなたの子をここに連れてきなさい」。
Jesus answered, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring yoʋr son here.”
42 ところが、その子がイエスのところに来る時にも、悪霊が彼を引き倒して、引きつけさせた。イエスはこの汚れた霊をしかりつけ、その子供をいやして、父親にお渡しになった。
Now as the boy was approaching, the demon threw him down and shook him with convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
43 人々はみな、神の偉大な力に非常に驚いた。みんなの者がイエスのしておられた数々の事を不思議に思っていると、弟子たちに言われた、
And they were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while everyone was marveling at all that Jesus had done, he said to his disciples,
44 「あなたがたはこの言葉を耳におさめて置きなさい。人の子は人々の手に渡されようとしている」。
“Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men.”
45 しかし、彼らはなんのことかわからなかった。それが彼らに隠されていて、悟ることができなかったのである。また彼らはそのことについて尋ねるのを恐れていた。
But they did not understand what this meant. It was concealed from them, so that they could not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.
46 弟子たちの間に、彼らのうちでだれがいちばん偉いだろうかということで、議論がはじまった。
Now an argument arose among the disciples as to which of them was greater.
47 イエスは彼らの心の思いを見抜き、ひとりの幼な子を取りあげて自分のそばに立たせ、彼らに言われた、
But Jesus, perceiving the thoughts of their hearts, took a child and placed him by his side.
48 「だれでもこの幼な子をわたしの名のゆえに受けいれる者は、わたしを受けいれるのである。そしてわたしを受けいれる者は、わたしをおつかわしになったかたを受けいれるのである。あなたがたみんなの中でいちばん小さい者こそ、大きいのである」。
Then he said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who will be great.”
49 するとヨハネが答えて言った、「先生、わたしたちはある人があなたの名を使って悪霊を追い出しているのを見ましたが、その人はわたしたちの仲間でないので、やめさせました」。
John responded, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in yoʋr name, and we told him to stop because he does not follow us.”
50 イエスは彼に言われた、「やめさせないがよい。あなたがたに反対しない者は、あなたがたの味方なのである」。
But Jesus said to him, “Do not stop him, for whoever is not against us is for us.”
51 さて、イエスが天に上げられる日が近づいたので、エルサレムへ行こうと決意して、その方へ顔をむけられ、
Now when the days were approaching for Jesus' ascension, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.
52 自分に先立って使者たちをおつかわしになった。そして彼らがサマリヤ人の村へはいって行き、イエスのために準備をしようとしたところ、
He sent messengers on ahead, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans to make preparations for him.
53 村人は、エルサレムへむかって進んで行かれるというので、イエスを歓迎しようとはしなかった。
But the people there refused to welcome him, because his face was set to go to Jerusalem.
54 弟子のヤコブとヨハネとはそれを見て言った、「主よ、いかがでしょう。彼らを焼き払ってしまうように、天から火をよび求めましょうか」。
When his disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do yoʋ want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just like Elijah did?”
55 イエスは振りかえって、彼らをおしかりになった。
But he turned and rebuked them, saying, “You do not know what kind of spirit you belong to.
56 そして一同はほかの村へ行った。
For the Son of Man did not come to destroy people's lives but to save them.” And they went on to another village.
57 道を進んで行くと、ある人がイエスに言った、「あなたがおいでになる所ならどこへでも従ってまいります」。
As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow yoʋ wherever yoʋ go, Lord.”
58 イエスはその人に言われた、「きつねには穴があり、空の鳥には巣がある。しかし、人の子にはまくらする所がない」。
Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
59 またほかの人に、「わたしに従ってきなさい」と言われた。するとその人が言った、「まず、父を葬りに行かせてください」。
Then Jesus said to another man, “Follow me.” But the man said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
60 彼に言われた、「その死人を葬ることは、死人に任せておくがよい。あなたは、出て行って神の国を告げひろめなさい」。
Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead. But yoʋ go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
61 またほかの人が言った、「主よ、従ってまいりますが、まず家の者に別れを言いに行かせてください」。
Still another said, “I will follow yoʋ, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to my family.”
62 イエスは言われた、「手をすきにかけてから、うしろを見る者は、神の国にふさわしくないものである」。
But Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
