ヨシュア記 16

1 ヨセフの子孫が、くじによって獲た地の境は、エリコのほとりのヨルダン、すなわちエリコの水の東から起って、荒野に延び、エリコから山地に上っている荒野を経て、ベテルに至り、

The lot came out for the descendants of Joseph from the Jordan at Jericho, at the waters of Jericho on the east, even the wilderness, going up from Jericho through the hill country to Bethel.

2 ベテルからルズにおもむき、アルキびとの領地であるアタロテに進み、

It went out from Bethel to Luz, and passed along to the border of the Archites at Ataroth;

3 西に下ってヤフレテびとの領地に達し、下ベテホロンの地域に及び、ゲゼルに達し、海に至って尽きる。

and it went down westward to the border of the Japhletites, to the border of Lower Beth Horon, even to Gezer; and ended at the sea.

4 こうしてヨセフの子孫のマナセと、エフライムとは、その嗣業を受けた。

The descendants of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

5 エフライムの子孫が、その家族にしたがって獲た地の境は、次のとおりである。彼らの嗣業の東の境は、アタロテ・アダルであって、上ベテホロンに達し、

This was the border of the descendants of Ephraim according to their families. The border of their inheritance eastward was Ataroth Addar, to Upper Beth Horon.

6 その境は、その所から海に及ぶ。北にはミクメタテがあり、東ではその境はタアナテシロで曲り、進んでヤノアの東に至り、

The border went out westward at Michmethath on the north of Termah. The border turned about eastward to Taanath Shiloh, and passed along it on the east of Janoah.

7 ヤノアからアタロテとナアラに下り、エリコに達し、ヨルダンに至って尽きる。

It went down from Janoah to Ataroth, to Naaratah, reached to Jericho, and went out at the Jordan.

8 タップアからその境は西に進んで、カナの川に達し、海に至って尽きる。これはエフライムの子孫の部族が、その家族にしたがって獲た嗣業である。

From Tappuah the border went along westward to Wadi Kanah; and ended at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the descendants of Ephraim according to their families;

9 このほかにマナセの子孫の嗣業のうちにも、エフライムの子孫のために分け与えられた町々があって、そのすべての町々と、それに属する村々を獲た。

together with the cities which were set apart for the descendants of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the descendants of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

10 ただし、ゲゼルに住むカナンびとを、追い払わなかったので、カナンびとは今日までエフライムの中に住み、奴隷となって追い使われている。

They did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwell in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and have become servants to do forced labor.
