ヨハネの福音書 13
1 過越の祭の前に、イエスは、この世を去って父のみもとに行くべき自分の時がきたことを知り、世にいる自分の者たちを愛して、彼らを最後まで愛し通された。
Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 夕食のとき、悪魔はすでにシモンの子イスカリオテのユダの心に、イエスを裏切ろうとする思いを入れていたが、
By the time supper ended, the devil had put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Jesus.
3 イエスは、父がすべてのものを自分の手にお与えになったこと、また、自分は神から出てきて、神にかえろうとしていることを思い、
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God,
4 夕食の席から立ち上がって、上着を脱ぎ、手ぬぐいをとって腰に巻き、
so he rose from supper, laid aside his outer garments, took a towel, and wrapped it around his waist.
5 それから水をたらいに入れて、弟子たちの足を洗い、腰に巻いた手ぬぐいでふき始められた。
After that, he put water into the washbasin and began to wash his disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around his waist.
6 こうして、シモン・ペテロの番になった。すると彼はイエスに、「主よ、あなたがわたしの足をお洗いになるのですか」と言った。
When he came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are yoʋ going to wash my feet?”
7 イエスは彼に答えて言われた、「わたしのしていることは今あなたにはわからないが、あとでわかるようになるだろう」。
Jesus answered him, “What I am doing yoʋ do not now understand, but afterward yoʋ will understand.”
Peter said to him, “Yoʋ shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash yoʋ, yoʋ have no part with me.” (aiōn g165)
9 シモン・ペテロはイエスに言った、「主よ、では、足だけではなく、どうぞ、手も頭も」。
Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.”
10 イエスは彼に言われた、「すでにからだを洗った者は、足のほかは洗う必要がない。全身がきれいなのだから。あなたがたはきれいなのだ。しかし、みんながそうなのではない」。
Jesus said to him, “He who has bathed has no need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not all of you.”
11 イエスは自分を裏切る者を知っておられた。それで、「みんながきれいなのではない」と言われたのである。
(For he knew who would betray him; that is why he said, “You are not all clean.”)
12 こうして彼らの足を洗ってから、上着をつけ、ふたたび席にもどって、彼らに言われた、「わたしがあなたがたにしたことがわかるか。
When Jesus had washed their feet and collected his garments, he reclined again at the table and said to them, “Do you know what I have done for you?
13 あなたがたはわたしを教師、また主と呼んでいる。そう言うのは正しい。わたしはそのとおりである。
You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am.
14 しかし、主であり、また教師であるわたしが、あなたがたの足を洗ったからには、あなたがたもまた、互に足を洗い合うべきである。
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
15 わたしがあなたがたにしたとおりに、あなたがたもするように、わたしは手本を示したのだ。
For I have given you an example so that you should do as I have done for you.
16 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。僕はその主人にまさるものではなく、つかわされた者はつかわした者にまさるものではない。
Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
17 もしこれらのことがわかっていて、それを行うなら、あなたがたはさいわいである。
If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
18 あなたがた全部の者について、こう言っているのではない。わたしは自分が選んだ人たちを知っている。しかし、『わたしのパンを食べている者が、わたしにむかってそのかかとをあげた』とある聖書は成就されなければならない。
I am not speaking about all of you; I know those whom I have chosen for myself. But the Scripture must be fulfilled: ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’
19 そのことがまだ起らない今のうちに、あなたがたに言っておく。いよいよ事が起ったとき、わたしがそれであることを、あなたがたが信じるためである。
I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe that I am he.
20 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。わたしがつかわす者を受けいれる者は、わたしを受けいれるのである。わたしを受けいれる者は、わたしをつかわされたかたを、受けいれるのである」。
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.”
21 イエスがこれらのことを言われた後、その心が騒ぎ、おごそかに言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。あなたがたのうちのひとりが、わたしを裏切ろうとしている」。
After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit and declared, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
22 弟子たちはだれのことを言われたのか察しかねて、互に顔を見合わせた。
So the disciples began looking at one another, perplexed as to whom he was speaking about.
23 弟子たちのひとりで、イエスの愛しておられた者が、み胸に近く席についていた。
One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining on Jesus' chest.
24 そこで、シモン・ペテロは彼に合図をして言った、「だれのことをおっしゃったのか、知らせてくれ」。
So Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus whom he was talking about.
25 その弟子はそのままイエスの胸によりかかって、「主よ、だれのことですか」と尋ねると、
Leaning back on Jesus' chest, he said to him, “Lord, who is it?”
26 イエスは答えられた、「わたしが一きれの食物をひたして与える者が、それである」。そして、一きれの食物をひたしてとり上げ、シモンの子イスカリオテのユダにお与えになった。
Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this morsel after I have dipped it.” Then he dipped the morsel and gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 この一きれの食物を受けるやいなや、サタンがユダにはいった。そこでイエスは彼に言われた、「しようとしていることを、今すぐするがよい」。
After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, “What yoʋ are about to do, do quickly.”
28 席を共にしていた者のうち、なぜユダにこう言われたのか、わかっていた者はひとりもなかった。
(Now none of those reclining at the table knew why he said this to him.
29 ある人々は、ユダが金入れをあずかっていたので、イエスが彼に、「祭のために必要なものを買え」と言われたか、あるいは、貧しい者に何か施させようとされたのだと思っていた。
Some were thinking, since Judas had the moneybag, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.)
30 ユダは一きれの食物を受けると、すぐに出て行った。時は夜であった。
As soon as Judas took the morsel, he went out. And it was night.
31 さて、彼が出て行くと、イエスは言われた、「今や人の子は栄光を受けた。神もまた彼によって栄光をお受けになった。
When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32 彼によって栄光をお受けになったのなら、神ご自身も彼に栄光をお授けになるであろう。すぐにもお授けになるであろう。
If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him immediately.
33 子たちよ、わたしはまだしばらく、あなたがたと一緒にいる。あなたがたはわたしを捜すだろうが、すでにユダヤ人たちに言ったとおり、今あなたがたにも言う、『あなたがたはわたしの行く所に来ることはできない』。
Little children, I am with you for a little while longer. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, now I say to you also, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’
34 わたしは、新しいいましめをあなたがたに与える、互に愛し合いなさい。わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、あなたがたも互に愛し合いなさい。
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you must love one another.
35 互に愛し合うならば、それによって、あなたがたがわたしの弟子であることを、すべての者が認めるであろう」。
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
36 シモン・ペテロがイエスに言った、「主よ、どこへおいでになるのですか」。イエスは答えられた、「あなたはわたしの行くところに、今はついて来ることはできない。しかし、あとになってから、ついて来ることになろう」。
Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are yoʋ going?” Jesus answered him, “Yoʋ cannot follow me now to the place where I am going, but afterward yoʋ will follow me.”
37 ペテロはイエスに言った、「主よ、なぜ、今あなたについて行くことができないのですか。あなたのためには、命も捨てます」。
Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow yoʋ now? I will lay down my life for yoʋ.”
38 イエスは答えられた、「わたしのために命を捨てると言うのか。よくよくあなたに言っておく。鶏が鳴く前に、あなたはわたしを三度知らないと言うであろう」。
Jesus answered him, “Yoʋ will lay down yoʋr life for me? Truly, truly, I say to yoʋ, a rooster will certainly not crow until yoʋ have denied me three times.”
