ヨブ 記 34
1 エリフはまた答えて言った、
Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
2 「あなたがた知恵ある人々よ、わたしの言葉を聞け、あなたがた知識ある人々よ、わたしに耳を傾けよ。
Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear to me, ye that have knowledge.
3 口が食物を味わうように、耳は言葉をわきまえるからだ。
For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth food.
4 われわれは正しい事を選び、われわれの間に良い事の何であるかを明らかにしよう。
Let us choose for ourselves what is right: let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 ヨブは言った、『わたしは正しい、神はわたしの公義を奪われた。
For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
6 わたしは正しいにもかかわらず、偽る者とされた。わたしにはとががないけれども、わたしの矢傷はいえない』と。
Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.
7 だれかヨブのような人があろう。彼はあざけりを水のように飲み、
What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
8 悪をなす者どもと交わり、悪人と共に歩む。
Who goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
9 彼は言った、『人は神と親しんでも、なんの益もない』と。
For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
10 それであなたがた理解ある人々よ、わたしに聞け、神は断じて悪を行うことなく、全能者は断じて不義を行うことはない。
Therefore hearken to me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11 神は人のわざにしたがってその身に報い、おのおのの道にしたがって、その身に振りかからせられる。
For the work of a man he shall render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 まことに神は悪しき事を行われない。全能者はさばきをまげられない。
Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
13 だれかこの地を彼にゆだねた者があるか。だれか全世界を彼に負わせた者があるか。
Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
14 神がもしその霊をご自分に取りもどし、その息をご自分に取りあつめられるならば、
If he should set his heart upon man, if he should gather to himself his spirit and his breath;
15 すべての肉は共に滅び、人はちりに帰るであろう。
All flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
16 もし、あなたに悟りがあるならば、これを聞け、わたしの言うところに耳を傾けよ。
If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
17 公義を憎む者は世を治めることができようか。正しく力ある者を、あなたは非難するであろうか。
Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?
18 王たる者に向かって『よこしまな者』と言い、つかさたる者に向かって、『悪しき者』と言うことができるであろうか。
Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?
19 神は君たる者をもかたより見られることなく、富める者を貧しき者にまさって顧みられることはない。彼らは皆み手のわざだからである。
How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.
20 彼らはまたたく間に死に、民は夜の間に振われて、消えうせ、力ある者も人手によらずに除かれる。
In a moment they shall die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
21 神の目が人の道の上にあって、そのすべての歩みを見られるからだ。
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
22 悪を行う者には身を隠すべき暗やみもなく、暗黒もない。
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 人がさばきのために神の前に出るとき、神は人のために時を定めておかれない。
For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.
24 彼は力ある者をも調べることなく打ち滅ぼし、他の人々を立てて、これに替えられる。
He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
25 このように、神は彼らのわざを知り、夜の間に彼らをくつがえされるので、彼らはやがて滅びる。
Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 彼は人々の見る所で、彼らをその悪のために撃たれる。
He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 これは彼らがそむいて彼に従わず、その道を全く顧みないからだ。
Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:
28 こうして彼らは貧しき者の叫びを彼のもとにいたらせ、悩める者の叫びを彼に聞かせる。
So that they cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
29 彼が黙っておられるとき、だれが非難することができようか。彼が顔を隠されるとき、だれが彼を見ることができようか。一国の上にも、一人の上にも同様だ。
When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
30 これは神を信じない者が世を治めることがなく、民をわなにかける事のないようにするためである。
That the hypocrite may not reign, lest the people should be ensnared.
31 だれが神に向かって言ったか、『わたしは罪を犯さないのに、懲しめられた。
Surely hast any one said to God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
32 わたしの見ないものをわたしに教えられたい。もしわたしが悪い事をしたなら、重ねてこれをしない』と。
That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
33 あなたが拒むゆえに、彼はあなたの好むように報いをされるであろうか。あなたみずから選ぶがよい、わたしはしない。あなたの知るところを言いなさい。
Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou shalt refuse, or whether thou shalt choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
34 悟りある人々はわたしに言うだろう、わたしに聞くところの知恵ある人は言うだろう、
Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken to me.
35 『ヨブの言うところは知識がなく、その言葉は悟りがない』と。
Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
36 どうかヨブが終りまで試みられるように、彼は悪人のように答えるからである。
My desire is that Job may be tried to the end because of his answers for wicked men.
37 彼は自分の罪に、とがを加え、われわれの中にあって手をうち、神に逆らって、その言葉をしげくする」。
For he addeth rebellion to his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
