ヨブ 記 33
1 だから、ヨブよ、今わたしの言うことを聞け、わたしのすべての言葉に耳を傾けよ。
Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
2 見よ、わたしは口を開き、口の中の舌は物言う。
Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
3 わたしの言葉はわが心の正しきを語り、わたしのくちびるは真実をもってその知識を語る。
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
4 神の霊はわたしを造り、全能者の息はわたしを生かす。
The Spirit of El hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
5 あなたがもしできるなら、わたしに答えよ、わたしの前に言葉を整えて、立て。
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
6 見よ、神に対しては、わたしもあなたと同様であり、わたしもまた土から取って造られた者だ。
Behold, you and I are the same before El: I also am formed out of the clay.
7 見よ、わたしの威厳はあなたを恐れさせない、わたしの勢いはあなたを圧しない。
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
8 確かに、あなたはわたしの聞くところで言った、わたしはあなたの言葉の声を聞いた。
Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
9 あなたは言う、『わたしはいさぎよく、とがはない。わたしは清く、不義はない。
I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
10 見よ、彼はわたしを攻める口実を見つけ、わたしを自分の敵とみなし、
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
11 わたしの足をかせにはめ、わたしのすべての行いに目をとめられる』と。
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
12 見よ、わたしはあなたに答える、あなたはこの事において正しくない。神は人よりも大いなる者だ。
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that Eloah is greater than man.
13 あなたが『彼はわたしの言葉に少しも答えられない』といって、彼に向かって言い争うのは、どういうわけであるか。
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
14 神は一つの方法によって語られ、また二つの方法によって語られるのだが、人はそれを悟らないのだ。
For El speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
15 人々が熟睡するとき、または床にまどろむとき、夢あるいは夜の幻のうちで、
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
16 彼は人々の耳を開き、警告をもって彼らを恐れさせ、
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
17 こうして人にその悪しきわざを離れさせ、高ぶりを人から除き、
That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
18 その魂を守って、墓に至らせず、その命を守って、つるぎに滅びないようにされる。
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
19 人はまたその床の上で痛みによって懲らされ、その骨に戦いが絶えることなく、
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
20 その命は、食物をいとい、その食欲は、おいしい食物をきらう。
So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
21 その肉はやせ落ちて見えず、その骨は見えなかったものまでもあらわになり、
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
22 その魂は墓に近づき、その命は滅ぼす者に近づく。
Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
23 もしそこに彼のためにひとりの天使があり、千のうちのひとりであって、仲保となり、人にその正しい道を示すならば、
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
24 神は彼をあわれんで言われる、『彼を救って、墓に下ることを免れさせよ、わたしはすでにあがないしろを得た。
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
25 彼の肉を幼な子の肉よりもみずみずしくならせ、彼を若い時の元気に帰らせよ』と。
His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
26 その時、彼が神に祈るならば、神は彼を顧み、喜びをもって、み前にいたらせ、その救を人に告げ知らせられる。
He shall pray unto Eloah, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
27 彼は人々の前に歌って言う、『わたしは罪を犯し、正しい事を曲げた。しかしわたしに報復がなかった。
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
28 彼はわたしの魂をあがなって、墓に下らせられなかった。わたしの命は光を見ることができる』と。
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
29 見よ、神はこれらすべての事をふたたび、みたび人に行い、
Lo, all these things worketh El oftentimes with man,
30 その魂を墓から引き返し、彼に命の光を見させられる。
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
31 ヨブよ、耳を傾けてわたしに聞け、黙せよ、わたしは語ろう。
Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
32 あなたがもし言うべきことがあるなら、わたしに答えよ、語れ、わたしはあなたを正しい者にしようと望むからだ。
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
33 もし語ることがないなら、わたしに聞け、黙せよ、わたしはあなたに知恵を教えよう」。
If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
