エレミヤ書 49
1 アンモンびとについて、主はこう言われる、「イスラエルには子がないのか、世継ぎがないのか。どうしてミルコムがガドを追い出して、その民がその町々に住んでいるのか。
Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
2 主は言われる、それゆえ、見よ、アンモンびとのラバを攻める戦いの叫びを、わたしが聞えさせる日が来る。ラバは荒塚となり、その村々は火で焼かれる。そのときイスラエルは自分を追い出した者どもを追い出すと主は言われる。
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir to them that were his heirs, saith the LORD.
3 ヘシボンよ嘆け、アイは滅ぼされた。ラバの娘たちよ呼ばわれ。荒布を身にまとい、悲しんで、まがきのうちを走りまわれ。ミルコムとその祭司およびつかさが共に捕え移されるからだ。
Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird yourselves with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
4 不信の娘よ、あなたはなぜ自分の谷の事を誇るのか。あなたは自分の富に寄り頼んで、『だれがわたしに攻めてくるものか』と言う。
Why gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come to me?
5 主なる万軍の神は言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたの上に恐れを臨ませる、それはあなたの周囲の者から来る。あなたは追われて、おのおの直ちに他人に続き、逃げる者を集める人もない。
Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that are about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.
6 しかし、のちになって、わたしはアンモンびとを再び栄えさせると、主は言われる」。
And afterward I will bring again the captives of the children of Ammon, saith the LORD.
7 エドムの事について、万軍の主はこう言われる、「テマンには、もはや知恵がないのか。さとい者には計りごとがなくなったのか。その知恵は消えうせたのか。
Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? hath counsel perished from the prudent? hath their wisdom vanished?
8 デダンに住む者よ、逃げよ、のがれよ、深い所に隠れよ。わたしがエサウの災難を彼の上に臨ませ、彼を罰する時をこさせるからだ。
Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will punish him.
9 ぶどうを集める者があなたの所に来たならば、すこしの実をも残さないであろうか。夜、盗びとが来たならば、自分たちの満足するだけ滅ぼさないであろうか。
If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.
10 しかしわたしはエサウを裸にし、その隠れる所を現したので、彼はその身を隠すことができない。その子どもたちも、兄弟も、隣り人も滅ぼされる。そして彼は、いなくなる。
But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is laid waste, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.
11 あなたのみなしごを残せ、わたしがそれを生きながらえさせる。あなたのやもめには、わたしに寄り頼ませよ」。
Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.
12 主はこう言われる、「もし、杯を飲むべきでない者もそれを飲まなければならなかったとすれば、あなたは罰を免れることができようか。あなたは罰を免れない。それを飲まなければならない。
For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunk; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it.
13 主は言われる、わたしは自分をさして誓った、ボズラは驚きとなり、ののしりとなり、荒れ地となり、のろいとなる。その町々は長く荒れ地となる」。
For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.
14 わたしは主からのおとずれを聞いた。ひとりの使者がつかわされて万国に行き、そして言った、「あなたがたは集まり、行って彼を攻め、立って戦え。
I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent to the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
15 見よ、わたしはあなたを万国のうちに小さい者とし、人々のうちに卑しめられる者とする。
For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.
16 岩の割れ目に住み、山の高みを占める者よ、あなたの恐ろしい事と、あなたの心の高ぶりが、あなたを欺いた。あなたは、わたしのように巣を高い所に作っているが、わたしはその所からあなたを取りおろすと主は言われる。
Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thy heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from there, saith the LORD.
17 エドムは恐れとなる。そのかたわらを通り過ぎる者はみな恐れ、その災のために、舌打ちする。
Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues.
18 主は言われる、ソドムとゴモラとその隣の町々がくつがえされた時のように、そこに住む人はなく、そこに宿る人もなくなる。
As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbour cities, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
19 見よ、ししがヨルダンの密林から上ってきて、じょうぶな羊のおりを襲うように、わたしは、たちまち彼らをそこから逃げ走らせ、わたしの選ぶ者をその上に立てる。だれかわたしのような者があるであろうか。だれがわたしを呼びつけることができようか。どの牧者がわたしの前に立つことができようか。
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
20 それゆえ、エドムに対して主が立てた計りごとと、テマンに住む者に対してしようとする事を聞くがよい。彼らの群れのうちの小さいものまでも皆、引かれて行く。彼らのおりのものもその終りを見て恐れる。
Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
21 その倒れる音を聞いて、地は震い、彼らの叫び声は紅海にも聞える。
The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise of it was heard in the Red sea.
22 見よ、敵はわしのように上り、すみやかに飛びかけり、その翼をボズラの上に張り広げる。その日エドムの勇士の心は子を産む女の心のようになる」。
Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
23 ダマスコの事について、「ハマテとアルパデは、うろたえている、彼らは悪いおとずれを聞いたからだ。彼らは勇気を失い、穏やかになることのできない海のように悩む。
Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
24 ダマスコは弱り、身をめぐらして逃げた、恐怖に襲われている。子を産む女に臨むように痛みと悲しみと彼に臨む。
Damascus hath become feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
25 ああ、名ある町、楽しい町は捨てられる。
How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26 それゆえ、その日に、若い者は、広場に倒れ、兵士はことごとく滅ぼされると万軍の主は言われる。
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
27 わたしはダマスコの城壁の上に火を燃やし、ベネハダデの宮殿を焼き尽す」。
And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
28 バビロンの王ネブカデレザルが攻め撃ったケダルとハゾルの諸国の事について、主はこう言われる、「立って、ケダルに向かって進み、東の人々を滅ぼせ。
Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and lay waste the men of the east.
29 彼らの天幕と、その羊の群れとは取られ、その垂幕とそのもろもろの器と、らくだとは彼らの所から運び去られ、人々は彼らに向かって叫ぶ、『恐ろしいことが四方にある』と。
Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry to them, Fear is on every side.
30 主は言われる、ハゾルに住む者よ、逃げよ、遠くさまよい行き、深い所に隠れよ。バビロンの王ネブカデレザルがあなたがたを攻める計りごとをめぐらし、あなたがたを攻める、てだてを設けたからだ。
Flee, go far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
31 主は言われる、立って進み、安全な所に住むきらくな民を攻めよ、彼らは門もなく、貫の木もなく、ひとり離れて住む。
Arise, go up to the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
32 彼らのらくだは、ぶんどり物となり、家畜の群れは奪われる。わたしは、かの髪の毛のすみずみを切る者を四方に散らし、その災難を八方からこさせると主は言われる。
And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides of it, saith the LORD.
33 ハゾルは山犬のすまいとなり、いつまでも荒れ地となっている。だれもそこに住む人はなく、そこに宿る人もない」。
And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.
34 ユダの王ゼデキヤの治世の初めのころに、エラムの事について預言者エレミヤに臨んだ主の言葉。
The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
35 万軍の主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしはエラムが力として頼んでいる弓を折る。
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
36 わたしは天の四方から、四方の風をエラムにこさせ、彼らを四方の風に散らす。エラムから追い出される者の行かない国はない。
And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37 主は言われる、わたしはエラムをしてその敵の前、またその命を求める者の前に恐れさせる。わたしは災をくだし、激しい怒りをその上にくだす。彼らのうしろに、つるぎを送って滅ぼし尽す。
For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
38 そしてわたしの位をエラムにすえ、王とつかさたちとを滅ぼすと主は言われる。
And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from there the king and the princes, saith the LORD.
39 しかし末の日に、わたしはエラムを再び栄えさせると、主は言われる」。
But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captives of Elam, saith the LORD.
