エレミヤ書 31
1 「主は言われる、その時わたしはイスラエルの全部族の神となり、彼らはわたしの民となる」。
At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.
2 主はこう言われる、「つるぎをのがれて生き残った民は、荒野で恵みを得た。イスラエルが安息を求めた時、
Thus saith the LORD, The people [which were] left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; [even] Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
3 主は遠くから彼に現れた。わたしは限りなき愛をもってあなたを愛している。それゆえ、わたしは絶えずあなたに真実をつくしてきた。
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
4 イスラエルのおとめよ、再びわたしはあなたを建てる、あなたは建てられる。あなたは再び鼓をもって身を飾り、出て行って、喜び楽しむ者と共に踊る。
Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
5 またあなたはぶどうの木をサマリヤの山に植える。植える者は、植えてその実を食べることができる。
Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat [them] as common things.
6 見守る者がエフライムの山の上に立って呼ばわる日が来る。『立って、シオンに上り、われわれの神、主に、もうでよう』と」。
For there shall be a day, [that] the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.
7 主はこう仰せられる、「ヤコブのために喜んで声高く歌い、万国のかしらのために叫び声をあげよ。告げ示し、ほめたたえて言え、『主はその民イスラエルの残りの者を救われた』と。
For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.
8 見よ、わたしは彼らを北の国から連れ帰り、彼らを地の果から集める。彼らのうちには、盲人やあしなえ、妊婦、産婦も共にいる。彼らは大きな群れとなって、ここに帰ってくる。
Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, [and] with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.
9 彼らは泣き悲しんで帰ってくる。わたしは慰めながら彼らを導き帰る。彼らがつまずかないように、まっすぐな道により、水の流れのそばを通らせる。それは、わたしがイスラエルの父であり、エフライムはわたしの長子だからである。
They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim [is] my firstborn.
10 万国の民よ、あなたがたは主の言葉を聞き、これを遠い、海沿いの地に示して言いなさい、『イスラエルを散らした者がこれを集められる。牧者がその群れを守るようにこれを守られる』と。
Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare [it] in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd [doth] his flock.
11 すなわち主はヤコブをあがない、彼らよりも強い者の手から彼を救いだされた。
For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of [him that was] stronger than he.
12 彼らは来てシオンの山で声高く歌い、主から賜わった良い物のために、穀物と酒と油および若き羊と牛のために、喜びに輝く。その魂は潤う園のようになり、彼らは重ねて憂えることがない。
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
13 その時おとめたちは舞って楽しみ、若い者も老いた者も共に楽しむ。わたしは彼らの悲しみを喜びにかえ、彼らを慰め、憂いの代りに喜びを与える。
Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
14 わたしは多くのささげ物で、祭司の心を飽かせ、わたしの良き物で、わたしの民を満ち足らせると主は言われる」。
And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.
15 主はこう仰せられる、「嘆き悲しみ、いたく泣く声がラマで聞える。ラケルがその子らのために嘆くのである。子らがもはやいないので、彼女はその子らのことで慰められるのを願わない」。
Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, [and] bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they [were] not.
16 主はこう仰せられる、「あなたは泣く声をとどめ、目から涙をながすことをやめよ。あなたのわざに報いがある。彼らは敵の地から帰ってくると主は言われる。
Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
17 あなたの将来には希望があり、あなたの子供たちは自分の国に帰ってくると主は言われる。
And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.
18 わたしは確かに、エフライムがこう言って嘆くの聞いた、『あなたはわたしを懲しめられた、わたしはくびきに慣れない子牛のように懲しめをうけた。主よ、あなたはわたしの神、主でいらせられる、わたしを連れ帰って、もとにかえしてください。
I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus; ] Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed [to the yoke: ] turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou [art] the LORD my God.
19 わたしはそむき去った後、悔い、教をうけた後、ももを打った。若い時のはずかしめが身にあるので、わたしは恥じ、 うろたえた』。
Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon [my] thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.
20 主は言われる、エフライムはわたしの愛する子、わたしの喜ぶ子であろうか。わたしは彼について語るごとに、なお彼を忘れることができない。それゆえ、わたしの心は彼をしたっている。わたしは必ず彼をあわれむ。
[Is] Ephraim my dear son? [is he] a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.
21 みずからのために道しるべを置き、みずからのために標柱を立てよ。大路に、あなたの通って行った道に心を留めよ。イスラエルのおとめよ、帰れ、これらの、あなたの町々に帰れ。
Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, [even] the way [which] thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.
22 不信の娘よ、いつまでさまようのか。主は地の上に新しい事を創造されたのだ、女が男を保護する事である」。
How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.
23 万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、「わたしが彼らを再び栄えさせる時、人々はまたユダの地とその町々でこの言葉を言う、『正義のすみかよ、聖なる山よ、どうか主がおまえを祝福してくださるように』。
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, [and] mountain of holiness.
24 ユダとそのすべての町の人、および農夫と群れを飼って歩き回る者は共にそこに住む。
And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they [that] go forth with flocks.
25 わたしが疲れた魂を飽き足らせ、すべて悩んでいる魂を慰めるからである」。
For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
26 ここでわたしは目をさましたが、わたしの眠りは、ここちよかった。
Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
27 「主は言われる、見よ、わたしが人の種と獣の種とをイスラエルの家とユダの家とにまく日が来る。
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
28 わたしは彼らを抜き、砕き、倒し、滅ぼし、悩まそうと待ちかまえていたように、また彼らを建て、植えようと待ちかまえていると主は言われる。
And it shall come to pass, [that] like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.
29 その時、彼らはもはや、『父がすっぱいぶどうを食べたので、子どもの歯がうく』とは言わない。
In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.
30 人はめいめい自分の罪によって死ぬ。すっぱいぶどうを食べる人はみな、その歯がうく。
But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
31 主は言われる、見よ、わたしがイスラエルの家とユダの家とに新しい契約を立てる日が来る。
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 この契約はわたしが彼らの先祖をその手をとってエジプトの地から導き出した日に立てたようなものではない。わたしは彼らの夫であったのだが、彼らはそのわたしの契約を破ったと主は言われる。
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33 しかし、それらの日の後にわたしがイスラエルの家に立てる契約はこれである。すなわちわたしは、わたしの律法を彼らのうちに置き、その心にしるす。わたしは彼らの神となり、彼らはわたしの民となると主は言われる。
But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 人はもはや、おのおのその隣とその兄弟に教えて、『あなたは主を知りなさい』とは言わない。それは、彼らが小より大に至るまで皆、わたしを知るようになるからであると主は言われる。わたしは彼らの不義をゆるし、もはやその罪を思わない」。
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
35 主はこう言われる、すなわち太陽を与えて昼の光とし、月と星とを定めて夜の光とし、海をかき立てて、その波を鳴りとどろかせる者その名は万軍の主という。
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, [and] the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts [is] his name:
36 主は言われる、「もしこの定めがわたしの前ですたれてしまうなら、イスラエルの子孫もすたって、永久にわたしの前で民であることはできない」。
If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, [then] the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
37 主はこう言われる、「もし上の天を量ることができ、下の地の基を探ることができるなら、そのとき、わたしはイスラエルのすべての子孫をそのもろもろの行いのために捨て去ると主は言われる」。
Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
38 主は言われる、「見よ、この町が、ハナネルの塔から隅の門まで、主のために再建される時が来る。
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
39 測りなわはそれよりも遠くまっすぐに延びて、ガレブの丘に達し、ゴアのほうに向かう。
And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
40 死体と灰との谷の全部、またキデロンの谷に行くまでと、東のほうの馬の門のすみに行くまでとのすべての畑はみな主の聖なる所となり、永遠にわたって、ふたたび抜かれ、また倒されることはない」。
And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, [shall be] holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
