イザヤ書 58
1 「大いに呼ばわって声を惜しむな。あなたの声をラッパのようにあげ、わが民にそのとがを告げ、ヤコブの家にその罪を告げ示せ。
Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
2 彼らは日々わたしを尋ね求め、義を行い、神のおきてを捨てない国民のように、わが道を知ることを喜ぶ。彼らは正しいさばきをわたしに求め、神に近づくことを喜ぶ。
Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.
3 彼らは言う、『われわれが断食したのに、なぜ、ごらんにならないのか。われわれがおのれを苦しめたのに、なぜ、ごぞんじないのか』と。見よ、あなたがたの断食の日には、おのが楽しみを求め、その働き人をことごとくしえたげる。
Why have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? why have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
4 見よ、あなたがたの断食するのは、ただ争いと、いさかいのため、また悪のこぶしをもって人を打つためだ。きょう、あなたがたのなす断食は、その声を上に聞えさせるものではない。
Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
5 このようなものは、わたしの選ぶ断食であろうか。人がおのれを苦しめる日であろうか。そのこうべを葦のように伏せ、荒布と灰とをその下に敷くことであろうか。あなたは、これを断食ととなえ、主に受けいれられる日と、となえるであろうか。
Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
6 わたしが選ぶところの断食は、悪のなわをほどき、くびきのひもを解き、しえたげられる者を放ち去らせ、すべてのくびきを折るなどの事ではないか。
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 また飢えた者に、あなたのパンを分け与え、さすらえる貧しい者を、あなたの家に入れ、裸の者を見て、これを着せ、自分の骨肉に身を隠さないなどの事ではないか。
Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou shouldest bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou shouldest cover him; and that thou shouldest not hide thyself from thy own flesh?
8 そうすれば、あなたの光が暁のようにあらわれ出て、あなたは、すみやかにいやされ、あなたの義はあなたの前に行き、主の栄光はあなたのしんがりとなる。
Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rear guard.
9 また、あなたが呼ぶとき、主は答えられ、あなたが叫ぶとき、『わたしはここにおる』と言われる。もし、あなたの中からくびきを除き、指をさすこと、悪い事を語ることを除き、
Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou shalt take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
10 飢えた者にあなたのパンを施し、苦しむ者の願いを満ち足らせるならば、あなたの光は暗きに輝き、あなたのやみは真昼のようになる。
And if thou shalt draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:
11 主は常にあなたを導き、良き物をもってあなたの願いを満ち足らせ、あなたの骨を強くされる。あなたは潤った園のように、水の絶えない泉のようになる。
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
12 あなたの子らは久しく荒れすたれたる所を興し、あなたは代々やぶれた基を立て、人はあなたを『破れを繕う者』と呼び、『市街を繕って住むべき所となす者』と呼ぶようになる。
And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
13 もし安息日にあなたの足をとどめ、わが聖日にあなたの楽しみをなさず、安息日を喜びの日と呼び、主の聖日を尊ぶべき日ととなえ、これを尊んで、おのが道を行わず、おのが楽しみを求めず、むなしい言葉を語らないならば、
If thou shalt turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thy own ways, nor finding thy own pleasure, nor speaking thy own words:
14 その時あなたは主によって喜びを得、わたしは、あなたに地の高い所を乗り通らせ、あなたの先祖ヤコブの嗣業をもって、あなたを養う」。これは主の口から語られたものである。
Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
