イザヤ書 46
1 ベルは伏し、ネボはかがみ、彼らの像は獣と家畜との上にある。あなたがたが持ち歩いたものは荷となり、疲れた獣の重荷となった。
Bel bows down, Nebo stoops, their idols are upon the beasts, and upon the cattle. The things that ye carried about are made a load, a burden to the weary beast.
2 彼らはかがみ、彼らは共に伏し、重荷となった者を救うことができずかえって、自分は捕われて行く。
They stoop, they bow down together. They could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
3 「ヤコブの家よ、イスラエルの家の残ったすべての者よ、生れ出た時から、わたしに負われ、胎を出た時から、わたしに持ち運ばれた者よ、わたしに聞け。
Hearken to me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from their birth, who have been carried from the womb.
4 わたしはあなたがたの年老いるまで変らず、白髪となるまで、あなたがたを持ち運ぶ。わたしは造ったゆえ、必ず負い、持ち運び、かつ救う。
And even to old age I am he, and even to hoar hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear, yea, I will carry, and will deliver.
5 あなたがたは、わたしをだれにたぐい、だれと等しくし、だれにくらべ、かつなぞらえようとするのか。
To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be alike?
6 彼らは袋からこがねを注ぎ出し、はかりをもって、しろがねをはかり、金細工人を雇って、それを神に造らせ、これにひれ伏して拝む。
Such as lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, they hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god. They fall down, yea, they worship.
7 彼らはこれをもたげて肩に載せ、持って行って、その所に置き、そこに立たせる。これはその所から動くことができない。人がこれに呼ばわっても答えることができない。また彼をその悩みから救うことができない。
They bear it upon the shoulder. They carry it, and set it in its place, and it stands. From its place it shall not remove. Yea, he may cry to it, yet it cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
8 あなたがたはこの事をおぼえ、よく考えよ。そむける者よ、この事を心にとめよ、
Remember this, and show yourselves men. Bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.
9 いにしえよりこのかたの事をおぼえよ。わたしは神である、わたしのほかに神はない。わたしは神である、わたしと等しい者はない。
Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is none else. I am God, and there is none like me,
10 わたしは終りの事を初めから告げ、まだなされない事を昔から告げて言う、『わたしの計りごとは必ず成り、わが目的をことごとくなし遂げる』と。
declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure,
11 わたしは東から猛禽を招き、遠い国からわが計りごとを行う人を招く。わたしはこの事を語ったゆえ、必ずこさせる。わたしはこの事をはかったゆえ、必ず行う。
calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. Yea, I have spoken. I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed. I will also do it.
12 心をかたくなにして、救に遠い者よ、わたしに聞け。
Hearken to me, ye stout-hearted, who are far from righteousness:
13 わたしはわが救を近づかせるゆえ、その来ることは遠くない。わが救はおそくない。わたしは救をシオンに与え、わが栄光をイスラエルに与える」。
I bring near my righteousness. It shall not be far off. And my salvation shall not tarry, and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
