イザヤ書 30
1 主は言われる、「そむける子らはわざわいだ、彼らは計りごとを行うけれども、わたしによってではない。彼らは同盟を結ぶけれども、わが霊によってではない、罪に罪を加えるためだ。
Woe to the rebellious sons, says Jehovah, who take counsel, but not of me, and who make a league, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,
2 彼らはわが言葉を求めず、エジプトへ下っていって、パロの保護にたより、エジプトの陰に隠れようとする。
who set out to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth, to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt!
3 それゆえ、パロの保護はかえってあなたがたの恥となり、エジプトの陰に隠れることはあなたがたのはずかしめとなる。
Therefore the strength of Pharaoh shall be your shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
4 たとい、彼の君たちがゾアンにあり、彼の使者たちがハネスに来ても、
For their rulers are at Zoan, and their ambassadors have come to Hanes.
5 彼らは皆おのれを益することのできない民により、すなわち助けとならず、益とならず、かえって恥となり、はずかしめとなる民によって、恥をかくからである」。
They shall all be ashamed because of a people who cannot profit them, who are not a help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.
6 ネゲブの獣についての託宣。彼らはその富を若いろばの背に負わせ、その宝をらくだの背に負わせて、雌じし、雄じし、まむしおよび飛びかけるへびの出る悩みと苦しみの国を通って、おのれを益することのできない民に行く。
The burden of the beasts of the South. Through the land of trouble and anguish, from where come the lioness and the lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of young donkeys, and their treasures upon the humps of camels, to a people who shall not profit them.
7 そのエジプトの助けは無益であって、むなしい。それゆえ、わたしはこれを「休んでいるラハブ」と呼んだ。
For Egypt helps in vain, and to no purpose. Therefore I have called her Rahab who sits still.
8 いま行って、これを彼らの前で札にしるし、書物に載せ、後の世に伝えて、とこしえにあかしとせよ。
Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it on a scroll, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.
9 彼らはそむける民、偽りを言う子ら、主の教を聞こうとしない子らだ。
For it is a rebellious people, lying sons, sons who will not hear the law of Jehovah,
10 彼らは先見者にむかって「見るな」と言い、預言者にむかっては「正しい事をわれわれに預言するな、耳に聞きよいことを語れ、迷わしごとを預言せよ。
who say to the seers, Do not see, and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things. Speak to us smooth things. Prophesy deceits.
11 大路を去り、小路をはなれ、イスラエルの聖者について語り聞かすな」と言う。
Get you out of the way. Turn aside out of the path. Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
12 それゆえ、イスラエルの聖者はこう言われる、「あなたがたはこの言葉を侮り、しえたげと、よこしまとを頼み、これにたよるがゆえに、
Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on it,
13 この不義はあなたがたには突き出て、くずれ落ちようとする高い石がきの破れのようであって、その倒壊はにわかに、またたくまに来る。
therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant.
14 その破れることは陶器師の器を破るように惜しむことなく打ち砕き、その砕けのなかには、炉から火を取り、池から水をくめるほどの、ひとかけらさえ見いだされない」。
And he shall break it as a potter's vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing, so that there shall not be found among the pieces of it a shard with which to take fire from the hearth, or to dip up water out of the cistern.
15 主なる神、イスラエルの聖者はこう言われた、「あなたがたは立ち返って、落ち着いているならば救われ、穏やかにして信頼しているならば力を得る」。しかし、あなたがたはこの事を好まなかった。
For thus said the lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, Ye shall be saved in returning and rest. Your strength shall be in quietness and in confidence. And ye would not,
16 かえって、あなたがたは言った、「否、われわれは馬に乗って、とんで行こう」と。それゆえ、あなたがたはとんで帰る。また言った、「われらは速い馬に乗ろう」と。それゆえ、あなたがたを追う者は速い。
but ye said, No, for we will flee upon horses. Therefore ye shall flee. And ye said, We will ride upon the swift. Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift.
17 ひとりの威嚇によって千人は逃げ、五人の威嚇によってあなたがたは逃げて、その残る者はわずかに山の頂にある旗ざおのように、丘の上にある旗のようになる。
One thousand shall flee at the threat of one. Ye shall flee at the threat of five, till ye are left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on a hill.
18 それゆえ、主は待っていて、あなたがたに恵を施される。それゆえ、主は立ちあがって、あなたがたをあわれまれる。主は公平の神でいらせられる。すべて主を待ち望む者はさいわいである。
And therefore Jehovah will wait, that he may be gracious to you. And therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you, for Jehovah is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.
19 シオンにおり、エルサレムに住む民よ、あなたはもはや泣くことはない。主はあなたの呼ばわる声に応じて、必ずあなたに恵みを施される。主がそれを聞かれるとき、直ちに答えられる。
For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. Thou shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to thee at the voice of thy cry. When he shall hear, he will answer thee.
20 たとい主はあなたがたに悩みのパンと苦しみの水を与えられても、あなたの師は再び隠れることはなく、あなたの目はあなたの師を見る。
And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet thy teachers shall not be hidden anymore, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers.
21 また、あなたが右に行き、あるいは左に行く時、そのうしろで「これは道だ、これに歩め」と言う言葉を耳に聞く。
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
22 その時、あなたがたはしろがねをおおった刻んだ像と、こがねを張った鋳た像とを汚し、これをきたない物のようにまき散らして、これに「去れ」と言う。
And ye shall defile the overlaying of thy graven images of silver, and the plating of thy molten images of gold. Thou shall cast them away as an unclean thing. Thou shall say to it, Get thee away.
23 主はあなたが地にまく種に雨を与え、地の産物なる穀物をくださる。それはおびただしく、かつ豊かである。その日あなたの家畜は広い牧場で草を食べ、
And he will give the rain for thy seed, with which thou shall sow the ground, and bread of the increase of the ground, and it shall be fat and plenteous. In that day thy cattle shall feed in large pastures.
24 地を耕す牛と、ろばは、シャベルと、くまででより分けて塩を加えた飼料を食べる。
Likewise the oxen and the young donkeys that till the ground shall eat savory provender, which has been winnowed with the shovel and with the fork.
25 大いなる虐殺の日、やぐらの倒れる時、すべてのそびえたつ山と、すべての高い丘に水の流れる川がある。
And there shall be upon every lofty mountain, and upon every high hill, brooks and streams of waters, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
26 さらに主がその民の傷を包み、その打たれた傷をいやされる日には、月の光は日の光のようになり、日の光は七倍となり、七つの日の光のようにになる。
Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that Jehovah binds up the hurt of his people, and heals the stroke of their wound.
27 見よ、主の名は遠い所から燃える怒りと、立ちあがる濃い煙をもって来る。そのくちびるは憤りで満ち、その舌は焼きつくす火のごとく、
Behold, the name of Jehovah comes from far, burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke. His lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a devouring fire,
28 その息はあふれて首にまで達する流れのようであって、滅びのふるいをもってもろもろの国をふるい、また惑わす手綱をもろもろの民のあごにつけるために来る。
and his breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction. And a bridle that causes to err shall be in the jaws of the peoples.
29 あなたがたは、聖なる祭を守る夜のように歌をうたう。また笛をならして主の山にきたり、イスラエルの岩なる主にまみえる時のように心に喜ぶ。
Ye shall have a song as in the night when a holy feast is kept, and gladness of heart, as he who goes with a pipe to come to the mountain of Jehovah, to the Rock of Israel.
30 主はその威厳ある声を聞かせ、激しい怒りと、焼きつくす火の炎と、豪雨と、暴風と、ひょうとをもってその腕の下ることを示される。
And Jehovah will cause his glorious voice to be heard, and will show the coming down of his arm with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast and tempest and hailstones.
31 主がそのむちをもって打たれる時、アッスリヤの人々は主の声によって恐れおののく。
For through the voice of Jehovah the Assyrian shall be dismayed. With his rod he will smite him.
32 主が懲しめのつえを彼らの上に加えられるごとに鼓を鳴らし、琴をひく。主は腕を振りかざして、彼らと戦われる。
And every stroke of the appointed staff, which Jehovah shall lay upon him, shall be with the sound of tambourine and harps. And he will fight with them in battles with the brandishing of his arm.
33 焼き場はすでに設けられた。しかも王のために深く広く備えられ、火と多くのたきぎが積まれてある。主の息はこれを硫黄の流れのように燃やす。
For a Topheth is prepared of old, yea, it is made ready for the king. He has made it deep and large. The pile of it is fire and much wood. The breath of Jehovah kindles it, like a stream of brimstone.
