イザヤ書 25
1 主よ、あなたはわが神、わたしはあなたをあがめ、み名をほめたたえる。あなたはさきに驚くべきみわざを行い、いにしえから定めた計画を真実をもって行われたから。
Jehovah, thou art my God: I will exalt thee; I will celebrate thy name, for thou hast done wonderful things; counsels of old [which are] faithfulness [and] truth.
2 あなたは町を石塚とし、堅固な町を荒塚とされた。外国人のやかたは、もはや町ではなく、とこしえに建てられることはない。
For thou hast made of the city a heap, of the fortified town a ruin, the palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built up.
3 それゆえ、強い民はあなたを尊び、あらぶる国々の町はあなたを恐れる。
Therefore shall the mighty people glorify thee, the city of terrible nations shall fear thee.
4 あなたは貧しい者のとりでとなり、乏しい者の悩みのときのとりでとなり、あらしをさける避け所となり、熱さをさける陰となられた。あらぶる者の及ぼす害は、石がきを打つあらしのごとく、
For thou hast been a fortress to the poor, a fortress for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat: for the blast of the terrible ones [has been] as the storm [against] a wall.
5 かわいた地の熱さのようだからである。あなたは外国人の騒ぎをおさえ、雲が陰をもって熱をとどめるようにあらぶる者の歌をとどめられる。
Thou hast subdued the tumult of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; [as] the heat, by the shadow of a cloud, [so] the song of the terrible ones is brought low.
6 万軍の主はこの山で、すべての民のために肥えたものをもって祝宴を設け、久しくたくわえたぶどう酒をもって祝宴を設けられる。すなわち髄の多い肥えたものと、よく澄んだ長くたくわえたぶどう酒をもって祝宴を設けられる。
And in this mountain will Jehovah of hosts make unto all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
7 また主はこの山で、すべての民のかぶっている顔おおいと、すべての国のおおっているおおい物とを破られる。
And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the veil which veileth all the peoples, and the covering that is spread over all the nations.
8 主はとこしえに死を滅ぼし、主なる神はすべての顔から涙をぬぐい、その民のはずかしめを全地の上から除かれる。これは主の語られたことである。
He will swallow up death in victory. And the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Jehovah hath spoken.
9 その日、人は言う、「見よ、これはわれわれの神である。わたしたちは彼を待ち望んだ。彼はわたしたちを救われる。これは主である。わたしたちは彼を待ち望んだ。わたしたちはその救を喜び楽しもう」と。
And it shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is Jehovah, we have waited for him; we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
10 主の手はこの山にとどまり、モアブは肥だめの中に踏まれるわらのように、おのれの所で踏みにじられる。
For in this mountain shall the hand of Jehovah rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, as straw is trodden down in the dunghill;
11 彼はその中で泳ぐ物が泳ごうとして手を伸ばすように、その手を伸ばす。しかし主はその高ぶりを、その手の巧みなわざと共に低くされる。
and he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth them forth to swim; and he shall bring down their pride together with the plots of their hands.
12 その石がきの高い城郭を主は傾け倒し、地に投げうって、ちりにかえされる。
And the fortress of the high defences of thy walls will he bring down, lay low, bring to the ground, into the dust.
