イザヤ書 20

1 アッスリヤの王サルゴンからつかわされた最高司令官がアシドドに来て、これを攻め、これを取った年、

In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, ) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

2 その時に主はアモツの子イザヤによって語って言われた、「さあ、あなたの腰から荒布を解き、足からくつを脱ぎなさい」。そこでイザヤはそのようにし、裸、はだしで歩いた。

At the same time spake YHWH by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 主は言われた、「わがしもべイザヤは三年の間、裸、はだしで歩き、エジプトとエチオピヤに対するしるしとなり、前ぶれとなったが、

And YHWH said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

4 このようにエジプトびとのとりことエチオピヤびとの捕われ人とは、アッスリヤの王に引き行かれて、その若い者も老いた者もみな裸、はだしで、しりをあらわし、エジプトの恥を示す。

So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

5 彼らはその頼みとしたエチオピヤのゆえに、その誇としたエジプトのゆえに恐れ、かつ恥じる。

And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

6 その日には、この海べに住む民は言う、『見よ、われわれが頼みとした国、すなわちわれわれがのがれて行って助けを求め、アッスリヤ王から救い出されようとした国はすでにこのとおりである。われわれはどうしてのがれることができようか』と。」

And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?
